Hey, everyone! With Mysteries, Conspiracies and Secrets being an awesome success, it's time to look to the next collab, set in April. Around the first. Might have something to do with Fools, even.
April Fools! Are you ready?
You might remember last year's attempt, Wraithland, which was postponed due to the Times hiatus. But the Times is back, and hopefully Wraithland with it. I know some people have already written something for it, so that gives us incentive to try again.
Wraithland is/was a big concept, and people had many, and sometimes differing ideas for it. So here's the deal. We’re going to be taking the Brightvale University approach, with a basic premise proposed and a large allowance of creative freedom. Some basic ideas will be posted below as to the overarching features but from there, feel free to take it in any direction that you wish.
Carolyn and June will keep track of people interested in participating, keep those reminder neomails going, and help however we can given our crazy schedules (hurray, academia). We will NOT be the keepers of the lore beyond the points listed below to simplify things for everyone, organizers included.
With the above in mind, let’s make this an April Fool’s Day to remember. Compared to last collab, this will be more of a secret event and will be completed mostly by NTWFers and JCWers. That way, we can surprise the folks on the Neoboards and get that “HUH?!” reaction that we love from April Fool’s Day.
Basic Premise:
Wraithland is the mirror of Faerieland, where the Wraiths exist
Wraiths serve the same basic function as Faeries in Wraithland
Wraiths and Faeries do not get along for the most part
There are very few, possibly only one stable portal between Wraithland and Neopia
There are also unstable portals that recently started appearing randomly throughout Neopia
Optional lore:
Wraithland might be a part of the Greater World/Dimension of Aiopen, a darker, edgier version of Neopia
Can treat this place as if it's a brand new site-feature that's just been introduced
Second post will be for submissions and will be updated regularly.
Thanks again for your time, talent, and love of the Times! We can’t wait to see what comes out of this issue.
CQ's reply:
Hi!
Wraithland is a go and it works out nicely that April Fools actually falls on a Friday this year! Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.
As for another collab, that's fine by me. There aren't really any other major special issues in that time, so it's up to you guys. One thing to note is that there are a lot of Pet/Theme days in July, so any entries for those days will have to go with the issue closest to that date. That's not an issue for me, it usually isn't an overwhelming number, but something for you guys to be aware of as you choose your collab date!
Let me know what you settle on!
