*waves* Mollyscribbles here; joined the forum because I thought Aiopen sounded cool. I've got my story started, but thought I'd check a few details here; I figure consistancy between stories is key to properly selling this issue. So, my main idea is that since the Faerie's Ruin didn't go well for the wraiths, the PR spin is that absolutely no one agreed with this at any point and the best option is to work on reinforcing the barrier between worlds out of fear that Neopia will decide to invade in retaliation. Given that Xandra seemed to be forcibly controlling most of the wraiths, they probably at least didn't agree to that part. Though it should be noted that I'm focusing on characters that are mostly interested in living their own lives and working toward goals that are not 'invade Neopia' so something contradictory that isn't general knowledge is fine.
I'm thinking of an Aiopen that isn't so much bizzaro Neopia as a dark mirror; Darkvale is the opposite of Brightvale, but they both value knowledge and are home to universities, for example, and Oblivion is basically Fyora's counterpart -- ruler of Wraithland, but generally seen as ranking above other regional rulers.
The counterparts of Brynn and Hanso I'm working with are on a mission to gather wraith artifacts to help seal the more unstable portals and at least stop citizens from worrying about a possible Neopian invasion (. . . which isn't likely, but the mind control thing has people paranoid).
Have other alternate place names been decided on, or is it mostly just Wraithland?
Rodatla: The glowing city, as opposed to Altador the city of the sun. They too value the the light but not in how it shuns the darkness but allows it to grow. The city is a marvel of art using negative space as its basis, building a city in the shadows created by a tower of light. But things weren't always great, too much light was still harmful and they risked losing everything when one of its guardians tried using the light to spread some kind of "radiant wisdom". Luckily they sealed away this "Oracle" in an obsidian obelisk, however she vowed to come back with an army of valiant crusaders so they sent it into another dimension where she would never cause problems again...
Darkdale: As you mentioned, it's the Wraith's city of knowledge much like Brightvale. Where Brightvale seeks knowledge through wisdom, Darkdale seeks knowledge through exploration believing one cannot expand their horizons without literally going venturing to different horizons. Their universities have created the most skilled and intelligent adventurers and survivalists with their museums filled with relics discovered from all over Aipoen.
Wraithland: The Wraith home city rivals that of the Faerie home city of Faerieland. Ruled by the strong and fierce King Oblivion, the Wraiths are constantly keeping up a valiant effort to assure their is order within the chaotic nature which makes up Aipoen which includes keeping the Faeries of Neopia out. But when Xandra started weakening the Faeries magic the Wraiths discovered their magic too was connected and Xandra was as much tapping into their power as she was the Faeries. In Aipoen the Wraiths fill the same duties as the Faeries do, even giving out quests to help strengthen the quester.
Enchanted Forest: One of the most tranquil places in Aipoen, it stands out as much as the Haunted Woods does in Neopia. Its filled with ethereal beings whose presence sometimes have an adverse affect on Wraiths so its considered a place of fear and superstition. There's even rumors of their being a small population of Neopian Faeries living there, possibly explaining why this world's magic is so harmful to Wraiths. Many of Wraith have tried creating a settlement within the Enchanted Forest though all have vanished.
Wraith Swamp: The primordial ooze which Aipoen was said to have sprung up from has been kept as murky as Kiko Lake has been kept clean. The place is sacred to the Wraith, many making pilgrimages here yearly to embrace themselves within the goop.
Wraith Cove: Though Aipoen is where all the nice Wraiths are, that doesn't mean there aren't mean ones. As gnarly as the scurviest of Krawk Island pirates, all the ill-gotten goods stolen by unsavory Wraiths end up in the black market here to than be shipped all over Aipoen.
Rodulerk: Aipoen's moon, its in constant strife between warring factions over territory. Unlike the Grundo Civil War on Kreludor, the warring Wraiths all came to the moon at the same time by different means though all claim to have arrived first and thus deserve the biggest chunk of territory. Sometimes the fighting lights up the sky so much you could mistake Rodulerk for a sun instead of a moon.
Wraith Jungle: An enigma of a place, its so overgrown with plantlife no one is able to get through it with getting entangled. There is rumored to be a civilization deep inside, but you have better luck getting through Lutari Island's storm than Wraith Jungle any time soon.
Aquarine: The Wraith's underwater city, though not by choice. Unlike Maraqua which was built underwater, Aquamarine was built on the surface but a terrible incident caused it to sink below the surface. The city survived however, Wraiths can practically survive anywhere, and so they got accustomed to their new home and created a unique underwater culture. They tried to build a new city on the surface but it too oddly sank, this time getting destroyed in the sinking and being abandoned.
Gloomdell: A medieval kingdom taken straight from the dark ages, Gloomdell is what Meridell might have become had they not discovered the Orb before it was too late. Once a great kingdom, it was struck with famine and disease which slowly made it into a desolate place where the people suffered and the aristocrats kept themselves locked away in their luxury. Desperate for relief, they're told by their rulers of a kingdom with a magical relic that could heal Gloomdell and so they gathered for the cause, unaware that their being manipulated by their rulers for their own selfish ends.
Nagirad Fortress: If you look around you'll see the ideal picture of a kingdom, one which would even rival Darigan Citadel (before they had the Orb stolen). There is one difference though, and that's the hundred foot fortress wall that surrounds and gives its name to Nagirad Fortress. When the armies of Gloomdell came marching through the countryside stealing any treasure they could find looking for an imaginary "magical healing relic", the surrounding towns and villages all came together to build a fortress around the main city to keep the invading force out. Nagirad Fortress is now a paradise that none of its citizens are able to leave.
Arasteam: High in the sky, as deep down as Moltara, is a mechanical floating city of gears and steam. Tired of how the surface dwellers were running things in the past, the ancestors of the Arasteam people took to the air where they had lived hidden high above the clouds for centuries. They've been up there so long some Wraiths have even changed into cloud-like creatures, crackling with thunder and lightning.
Revelation Peninsula: Filled with as many answers as Mystery Island has questions, if there's ever a question you need answering this is where you need to go. Revelation Peninsula is covered with whisperocks, stones which when asked a question are said to whisper the answer. They do make a sound, though it sounds like random noises. You need to take them to the Revelation Peninsula Monastery where Wraith Monks, who have meditated for years to be able to understand the whisperocks, can translate what they're saying. Though whether you can understand the message is a whole other issue that involves training at the monastery yourself.
Aipoen Square: Our Neopia Central, it's the main shopping and residential district of Aipoen.
Wraith Arcade: Even Wraiths like playing games! Wraith Arcade is a giant game theme park not unlike Roo Island except its not a kingdom but rather equally funded by the other worlds.
Uuknesh: A packed city bustling with life and movement, Uuknesh is what happens when you have the population of Shenkuu but not the mountains to spread it out. Uuknesh is all about constant movement and efficiency, if you're not doing something you're wasting time and probably getting in the way of at least a few dozen very busy Wraiths. The Wraiths here move fast, talk fast, and would probably eat and sleep fast if Wraiths needed to. Its cramp and your constantly being exposed to buildings and shops which all try grabbing your attention with bright colors, music, and sometimes smells.
Thrill Hills: A valley filled with snowy hills, this is the world for thrill seekers who just want to let loose. Thrill Hill is hills upon hills reaching just as high as Terror Mountain, but where there are deep mysteries in the mountain, in the hills there is only extreme sports. Sure there are dangers, but what's a little excitement without some adrenaline?
The Discovering West: While its not advised to get lost in the Lost Desert, its encouraged to go out exploring in the Discovering West (though as noted the Wraiths don't really need to worry about little things like eating, sleeping, and exposure to the elements). It's more a cowboy western world though there are Egyption/Arabian places hinting at a lost civilization, but to the Wraiths that just means places to explore and discover.
Ainnarty: A prehistoric world, but more Cambrian than Tyrannian's Jurassic. This world is a wetland covered in mist and odd flora growing where it wishes, the only dry land being volcanoes ready to erupt and release rivers of lava. Every step is met with a squish and if you're not careful a splash into unknown waters filled with all sorts of simple and bazaar aquatic life forms.
Virtuwraith Space Station: Because you thought Dr. Sloth only planned on taking over Neopia? HA! Lord Sloth is not just a galactic conqueror but a dimensional one too! He has tried taking over Aipoen just as much as Neopia, and somehow those pesky Wraiths always foil his plans, they're just as infuriating as those Faeries and Neopets.
Wobbleshire: Taking a cue from the NC Mall's twisted history, maybe their version of the rumored Jelly World is the well known and highly visited Wobbleshire.
I might have gone into bizarro world territory a few times, but hey these are just some suggestions.
