Okay, I've had this series that's been rejected numerous times (you wouldn't believe how many), but I've had a lot of people look at it and think that it's actually pretty good. I'm beginning to think that with just Droplet as an editor, no one has gotten a chance to read it, even though it's been a while since I finished it. Does Droplet have a direct e-mail address, or should I just e-mail one of the general Neopets e-mail addresses? I have asked in the Editorial, but to no response. I'd just like to get some clarification and possibly feedback as to why this series keeps being rejected.

You can leave a Neomail at nt_editor, which is the Neopets account.

Sometimes it's literally just a small thing, that seems unimportant.
I had to revise my series SO MANY TIMES when I was submitting for issue 600, many tears were shed. After a few rewrites, it was accepted.
Sometimes it just takes a rework, or moving sections of the story around.

Okay, I sent a ticket in, but they closed it. Does it mean they'll never respond to it?
Also, they rejected my story again...two days after I submitted it. Is that usually a bad sign?

What reason do the neomails give for the rejection?

Too many good entries. I added an introduction, though, and changed it so they wouldn't have had to have reread the previous short story (which made it in, but is technically somewhat of a prequel). Part of the reason is that they probably didn't want to reread it.
And for goodness sakes, telling Herdy, the all-time Neopian Times record holder, my number of rejections would be far, far too embarrassing. Plus someone like me, with only seven published entries and no series, should know their place in this society.

You might be surprised how much other people get TMGEs

Even you, Herdy? I jokingly call you the James Patterson of the NT. If you don't get it, try to look in a bookstore or library for his books. Then you'll see why.
And I've been TMGE'd about...thirty times for this. I lost count somewhere, but I added some new stuff. Some people think TNT doesn't like it because it portrays Tandrak Shaye as a Villain With Good Publicity, but I'm still going to go ahead. And I'm doing as much of a Ship Tease as you can get away with on Neopets by having a reserve player on another team have a crush on Layton.
Ah, how the DC fans would react to this...xD

I can't say what the real reason is without seeing the story, but I seriously doubt this is it. On the other hand, I also doubt Droplet would be able to tell you much about the reason it's being rejected. If there's a specific problem they'll generally send you a more specific rejection letter. Sometimes "too many good entries" means just that. If you haven't already, you might try posting the story on here somewhere and getting some fresh eyes on it?

My intro that I just wrote is really good, in my opinion. I did some small editing things, since I did, after all, write it a while ago. For instance, changing all the instances of "snuck" to "sneaked." And I changed the title to gather more attention.

I admittedly haven't written for the NT in several years, but I do know that back when I was active, TMGEs were occasionally sent out when there was an intrinsic issue with a story but there weren't any appropriate/exact form letters that would cover the rejection reason. I would strongly recommend posting your story here on the forum in the Reviews section so people can take a look at it and possibly point out to you if there is in fact something specific getting it rejected-- or if it truly is just a case of TMGE.

I'm kind of wary of posting stories. I know you guys probably won't steal them, but I still have to be alert. Somebody on fanfiction.net tried to steal my short story, "Chapter Thirteen." Thankfully, the person posted it after it had made it in the NT, so it got deleted pretty quickly.

Obviously we can't make any guarantees, but I'd saying posting here is relatively safe (much safer than fanfiction.net, where it's pretty much a free-for-all). I can't recall any story posted here ever being stolen, and I've been around on this forum for about nine years-- and if it was, you'd have pretty solid proof that it was yours first, based on posting date. xD;

If I do that, I might just post the first part. But I'll see what happens with the new changes first.
