Oh man I love hearing about all your characters. I can't wait to see how everyone interacts with one another. ... which reminds me. I should start drafting up an actual bio trololol... Mind if I tag along? Of course not! All are welcome to join. ^__^

Ok, I was initially going to sit this out but the Skypechat made it sound like so much fun. ;.; So I'll be jumping in. But I'll have to think of a character. So far got an idea for a cyborg female zombie who was an anarchist in life who sees the whole apocalypse thing as a blessing in disguise. Lame and needs more detail, I know.
The timeline sounds good to me, I can't think of anything to add or wrong at the moment.

Yay for characters made up just now! I might edit this later when I have better ideas. Name: Richard (Rich, for short) James Type: Stitches Occupation: None. He's a bum. Personality: He's pretty laid-back. He'd rather socialize than work - which is exactly why he doesn't get a job. He likes making jokes, which can sometimes be a little weak. He's known to go up to random people and bombard them with terrible jokes. BUT. He's also a humongous mooch. There's not a single day that he doesn't go up to about 5 people and asks them for money, which he usually loses anyway. A lot of people do get a little annoyed by him when he does this. --- Oh, and just in case I forget... Appearance: Richard is a very small being in stature, though he appears even tinier due to the lack of food to fill his belly. He has stitches around his neck, wrists, and knees to ensure they don't fall off on a regular basis. His skin is tinted a pale green, and his hair is a thick black jungle on the top of his head. He has a tattoo reading "MOM" that he got the first time he went to get his disembodied shin sewn back on. Backstory: Before the apocalypse, Richard was still jobless, homeless, and hungry, though he applied for as many jobs as he could. He didn't really notice he had been infected until he prodded someone for money and they ran away screaming. After that, he quit applying for jobs for fear that someone would find him and wipe his little zombie face from the earth. Even after humans and zombies quit trying to completely kill each other, he doesn't bother to get a job, but that's mostly out of laziness. His feelings towards humans are neutral, though he is just the teensiest-tiniest bit nervous of approaching them.

okay okay okay so so um -has been thinking about characters- let's see if someone like this would possibly fit into this universe shall we? :3 Meet Tryst!
Okay so yes Tryst might seem like an odd name, but he would like to have you think it is perfectly normal and doesn't it sound smart and cool? Much more smart and cool than Tristan at least, which may or may not have been his name while human, he can't really remember. Something with a T.
Anyways. With how spotty and varied the span of a zombie's memory can be, I have the feeling that Tryst finds himself wandering around amnesiatic and confused after his transformation, a fact that isn't helped with all these rotting people and skeletons and cyborgs roaming around. But then he runs into this one girl who actually looks halfway human and approaches her to ask for help, thinking she can give him an idea of what in the world is going on. While their first little exchange is a bit rocky (she is completely disgusted by him, turns out), he soon explains enough for her to realize what's happened to him, and she takes him under her wing-- thing is, this chick is like a die-hard formal and immediately whisks him away for a procedure before too much more "damage" can be done to him. XD
Now, all this would be fine and dandy if anyone other than this girl in particular had decided to help Tryst out. It's kind of like acquiring an etiquette/life coach who herself has really twisted ideals and is generally not a good role model, but what do you know because you're new here and don't even know any better. So while this chick plays her part in helping Tryst work through what all he remembers of his human life and what he wants to do with himself in this new zombie state, her weird personality also becomes a bit of a shaping factor in how he interacts with others once he's on his own. (Speaking of which, I need to figure out if there was any romance or anything between them, because an ongoing search/bitterness over her would really be interesting for him X3)
So mainly, Tryst decides that he wants to be better than he was as a human. He distinctly remembers struggling through life and being picked on because of some very significant learning disorders he had while alive, so now his main focus is on becoming well-read, artistic, and intelligent. Normally, this would be an admirable goal, but because of the "coaching" he's received, this sort of translates into him acting haughty, self-righteous, and poseriffic pretty much all of the time. He's the kind of tool that wears glasses and a beret because he thinks it makes him smarter (much in the same way that painting lightning on a car makes it faster). Memento Mori, once he discovers it, becomes a frequent haunt for him to practice all of his different endeavors, ranging from writing poetry and prose to trying to discern the tempers of different kinds of vintage brains. He is equally inept at both.
I think deep down, he just wants to be respected, but unfortunately he ends up as more of a nuisance to the other patrons of the speakeasy than anything else. But who knows, maybe he'll make a friend or two during the course of the RP. :3
(not holding my breath though lol) PHEW okay that was long sorry for how long that was but uh yes :3 i also had an idea for a human girl character but i'll post stuff about her up after i've had more time to think about her. and hopefully her description won't be as lengthy XDD;;;

I have a character now. He's a zombie but he looks relatively non-zombieish (except for the massive face stitches) He also has glasses, which seems irrelevant but it's not.

Alright, now to post a character description. It is a work in progress so be patient with me. =P I'll be playing a Andrea "Andy" Trent, a cyborg female zombie. She is an individualist anarchist who saw the zombie apocalypse as a dream come true and a further reinforcement of her ideals. However, after an outing with a bunch of zombie hunters ended badly near the end of the apocalypse and she was bitten, Andy went through a crisis of identity as becoming another mindless zombie, as she valued her free will over everything else. She isolated herself and fought the urge to eat brains and generally display any zombie characteristics, at the expense of rotting quicker. By the time she got over her existential crisis, society had kind of reformed and Andy was greatly disappointed at the fact that everything was not a free-for-all anymore. So she bummed around, causing trouble until one day, her rotten arm finally fell off in the middle of a bar-fight. She just kept pummelling the other guy with it. This spectacle caught the attention of Professor Derek Brenser (a moulder) who happened to be in that very bar and he took her, reluctantly on her part, to a colleage (a formal by the name of Dr. Aaron Homsted) of his who was working on some new prosthetics that he needed a test subject for. Andy reluctantly agreed and was fitted with a new arm, new leg, a metal hand, metal foot and calf, a new eye that looked like an eyepatch and metal strengthening plates on her joints, including a rod in her spine. All this for the price of becoming the doctor's assistant and giving him back data on the functions of the limbs. They've been in this partnership for over four years now and Andy isn't happy with it, often staying out and hanging at Memento Mori as well as other places. She hasn't forgotten her individualism. Her ultimate ambition is to return everything to how it was. However, she views the time before the zombie apocalypse as just part of a dream she had.
Appearance-wise, Andy has green-tinted skin and short brown hair that is usually tucked behind her ears. One eye is a dark green and slightly bloodshot and the other is the aforementioned eyepatch. She often covers her metal arms in bandages to take people who attack her by surprise. One of her prize posessions is an army combat uniform jacket that she found while raiding an abandoned base for supplies.
Personality-wise, Andy is obviously very head-strong. She only goes by her own rules, whether it is to her benefit or not. She delights in fighting and violence, only as long as she feels that the people she's fighting deserve it. She dislikes a lot of things including authority, zombies and all zombie-related lusts such as the desire for brains, but in the end has a soft spot for animals. Good luck getting her to admit it though. She values toughness, the ability to make a choice and self-reliance above everything else. She does however have a code of honour as she tries to repay her debts, explaining why she stays with the Doctor who gave her her cyborg enhancements. Opinionated and likes the sound of her own voice. Yeppers. Such a likeable character. xD

Thanks everyone for posting your characters! I've been updating the list, so if you see I've made any mistakes, don't hesitate to let me know. Another thing we have to settle on before beginning this role-play is the politics of the zombie world, as well as the role of Memento Mori. Zombie governments would resemble something municipal more than anything else. Countries haven't been rebuilt yet, but cities have, and each city sort of stands alone the way a country would. Our story takes place in Haven, one of the first, most popular, and most prosperous zombie cities. I think it's safe to say that Formals are considered "high-class", and that the government is principally run by them. They don't have as much authority as they think they do, and the zombie underworld is quite prevalent. However, they are getting stronger, bigger, and laws are getting stricter... Memento Mori is a place that's existed as long as the city itself. It sprang up as a safe house for competent zombies during the start of the infection (back when everyone was mostly human and zombies were to be eliminated on sight) and has evolved over the years to something else entirely. It has changed places many times and is known wildly by reputation only, but it very difficult to find. You either receive and invitation, or stumble on it by accident. (The initial idea for Memento Mori was basically a zombie speakeasy to the truest form. A place to eat the brains that had been made illegal. But that idea is pretty much scratched, considering we will be having human patrons and that would make things awkward.) Memento Mori is a neutral zone. One of the true last neutral zones around. Humans and zombies simply don't trust each other, you see. The humans who aren't hiding out in the woods are put in separate safe zones within icy walls. This is for the safety of both humans and zombies alike, the government says, but who knows whether they speak truth or not. This makes places like Memento Mori highly controversial, but the speakeasy's got pretty good at remaining undetected over the years. The founder and manager of Memento Mori is another mystery all together. No one knows who they are, what they look like, or why they build Memento Mori in the first place. Their existence is only made known through the presence of their messenger, an enigmatic woman who goes by June. June is demure, polite, and downright terrifying. She looks the furthest thing from threatening, yet she carries herself like a cat about to pounce. She's a frequent visitor to the speakeasy, claiming she is only there to "check up on thing" and urges to customers to treat her as one of them, but underestimating June is like walking down a bad street at night and telling yourself you'll be safe as long as there are cars on the road. No one can tell if she is a very well put-together Formal, or a human who just doesn't get enough sleep. (June has the presence of an NPC, but I'm putting her under lock to ensure the mystery of Memento Mori doesn't get ahead of itself and fall apart to the whims of too many different ideas. I hope no one minds. Chelsea will still be my principal character. June just exists as my way of keeping the plot nice and tidy and together.) That's a brief, vague, and extremely rough vision of the setting. If anyone has any theories to how things would work, I'd very much like to hear them. Or, you know, we could just roll with this and keep things sketchy and bendable. The role-play does revolve around the speakeasy, after all, and it might be best to avoid the government conspiracies for now. If the role-play grows and leans in that direction, then we could flesh things out then. edit: also, speaking of Chelsea, it's about time I whipped up a quick bio for her. x) Chel Adler was at the peak of her life when she died. Rising indie songstress, hipster fashion icon, and number 7 on The Rolling Stone's names to watch out for in the upcoming year, she was just a Coachella performance away from superstardom. And then she got bitten by a fan during a concert fundraiser in Japan. Chel underwent a complete metamorphosis after the transformation, and we're not just talking zombie-wise here. She couldn't hold her guitar right after losing a finger on her left hand, couldn't sing after her lungs rotted. Not that it mattered, anyway. The world was in ruin. Her body was proof of that, so her personality changed to suit it as well. Apathetic, melancholic, despondent. The only indication that she didn't shift into an emotionless being is indicated through her dark, sardonic sense of humour. Chel is painfully blunt and brutal, always the first to point out the elephant in the room. She speaks in a deadpan that is exaggerated by the robotic voicebox she installed in order to speak. A Formal by nature, her skin is tinted a rather prominent green, so many suspect she is freshly bitten Molder. Her hair is a short, incredibly curly bob and she dresses entirely in 1920s flapper style. (This is most likely an ironic statement carried over from her previous life. Or something. idk I just really wanted a flapper zombie.) She has very big eyes that are bloodshot the the point where they can only be considered red. Couple with her gaunt face, her eyes are her most striking and noticeable feature. (She basically looks like this except maybe a little less green. >__> digital art haha y no u work right) She is also missing a finger on her left hand. She tells a different story every time somebody asks. Her expressions are very minimal and she looks very unimpressed with life, the universe, and everything. Chel is the barkeeper over at Memento Mori, serving with an attitude befit of a waitress at a backwater truckstop diner. No one is sure why she got the job and why she hasn't been fired yet, but it's wildly agreed that the place simply wouldn't be the same without her there. She is extremely loyal to the patron of the speakeasy, for reasons she will never say. Sometimes she plays the piano when she forgets that other people are in the room, but she always stops abruptly, leaving the song dissonant, incomplete, and hanging.

Late sorry xD
I shall be playing as Alfie, 13-year-old human. Alfie pretty much grew up in this zombie world, was raised by a variety of people, and had to watch as each of them were turned or eaten, then was saved/adopted by other survivors up until he was about 10, then he found himself alone. He was taught the worst thing ever was being turned to a zombie, it was worse than death. He's goal isn't to kill zombies, it's to survive, anyway possible. He has become submissive to the "zombie overlords" but is terrified of them. He is super polite to them and calls them Sir and Madam. He is super paranoid, and sometimes he swears he sees things and hears thing when nothing is there.

Alright, sorry for the lack of updates, but I am working on a introduction/debriefing of sorts. It should be finished... soon, and I hope to get this thing rolling sometime this week. If anyone has any last minute questions/concerns/suggestions, then this is the time to have them voiced!

I'm working on my character, but I might not get to post a summary. That's perfectly fine. * Alright! Sorry for the delay, but I have kicked myself back into gear and this should very much be a thing by tonight! Or tomorrow... but hopefully tonight! I come bearing a list of NPCs and will be posting the introduction as soon as I finish it. Fret not, zombies. Soon you will be able to eat each other's ears to your heart's content. <3 Timothy Elijah Alcott A tall, willowy Formal with a gaunt face and hawk nose. Dresses in extremely fancy period clothes. From different periods. Sometimes he wears a monocle. Timothy Elijah Alcott fancies himself a very, very important person. Timothy Elijah Alcott is not, in fact, very important at all. Timothy Elijah Alcott is just the bartender. Sure, he is the bookkeeper, too, and in charge of keeping the journal over at Memento Mori up to date, but he earned that job for his impeccable penmanship, and not for his flawless diction and insightful prose. Timothy Elijah Alcott considers himself a poet and philosopher, but he mixes metaphors, mangles idioms, and if he could he would speak in only rhymes and riddles, clichés and puns. He is eccentric, pretentious, and woefully informed when it comes to politics. While he likes to believe that he radiates charm, poise, and authority, he is a sheep, baa baa, and is loyal to whoever asserts the most power. For all his faults, he is oddly endearing, and he does a great job of keeping the bar clean and tidy, as well as a safe-guarded secret. And he does have beautiful penmanship, so we'll give him that.
Timothy Elijah Alcott is always referred to as such. Except for when he is out of earshot. Then it's just "Tim". (Or "Teapot", to some.)
Hattie Wilder A happy-go-lucky Skeleton waitress. Wears a different wig every day. Uses terms of endearment quite frequently. Very friendly and affectionate, but a bit of a meddler. A notorious gossip who tries to be Team Mom to all the patrons, but instead comes off as that weird aunt who always knits you sweaters that smell like cats. Knows everyone's secrets - or at least implies that she does. Would be an excellent information broker if only she knew how to keep her mouth shut.
Lockjaw A huge, lumbering Stitch. Memento Mori's bouncer, although no one's quite sure how he manages to fit through the doorway. Dark skin and even darker eyes, they say every stitch he has tells a story.... ABOUT A PERSON HE KILLED! (Maybe.) Not much is known about him, but he has a reputation built entirely of rumours that gather like flies to the corpses of a thousand urban legends. Lockjaw is incredibly intimidating, but is actually quite polite and soft-spoken. Logical and reasonable. Has a world-weary sort of wisdom; the kind of guy who doesn't speak much, but when he does, everyone listens. Is secretly a fan of the opera. Is even more secretly a bass-baritone. No one must ever know.
Cassandra Cassandra stand outside every day with a sandwich board, raving about the end of the world. Cassandra doesn't know that she's been dead for the past five years. She wears a trench coat, fingerless gloves, and a stained wifebeater. Her hair is a tangled beehive of curls that just might actually be a beehive. Or a nest. (There is a pool going around the speakeasy as to what small animal currently lives in there.) A Moulder in both skin and spirit. On Mondays she sells flowers. (She doesn't realize the flowers are dead, either.)
Mordecai A head above the rest. Literally. Mordecai is a snarky, cynical, disembodied head who serves both as the greeter and the nightwatchman for Memento Mori. Was a major thrill seeker back in the day and advocates zombie extreme sports like there is no tomorrow. (Despite the fact that he lost all his limbs in a tragic cliff-diving accident.) He speaks in a dialect that is 80% sarcasm. British. Sometimes Hattie caries him around in her purse.
Everyone is allowed to control and interact with these NPCs, providing this does not interfere with any of the golden rules of Roleplaying.

Hiya all! I'm here to explain my character. Yes this is late. Oops. I'll be roleplaying as Lila "Akina-chan" Smith, a pure American girl who is, unfortunately for everyone at the MM, a kawaii-desu okatu j/k-pop cosplaying sea-green Moulder zombie.
...Yes, I am very much serious.
Akina, at the point of her being bitten, was at a con for Highschool of the Dead fans, when an infected cosplayer got her and the rest of the crowd. Oops. How sad, to turn into a zombie at a convention for a zombie anime/manga.
Anyway, she was cosplaying as a zombie when she was bitten, and... then she was a zombie. Which kind of sucks.
A fan of many animes, mangas, and other Japanese things (like Vocaloid and K/J-Pop and kawaii things desu), Akina renamed herself as soon as she was bitten. She remembers some things about her old life-- she was 17 at the time of her transformation, she grew up a pure American girl, and she had three siblings (who she hasn't spoken to since that fateful day). Also, she had a cat named Sparkle.
At the MM, Akina took over a large closet in the back full of cosplay clothing and colorful wigs. She technically /can't/ have that closet, but nobody bothers to clean it out due to the fact that every time they tried she just put everything back in again. She also carries around an iPod speaker backpack (with a glitter Hello Kitty on it), the iPod itself full of anime songs, Vocaloid, and every J-Pop band known to man. Yes, that is a lot of songs.
Akina is generally a very spunky and upbeat girl full of smiles and laughter. To date, nobody has ever seen her frown, not once, although she will pout to get her way with the others. Her favorite animals are cats.
When not wearing a wig, her hair is a light blonde color, cut to her shoulders, and her eyes are a deep green. She has to wear contacts, but if they fall out, she needs to wear glasses. Her glasses are, of course, pink.
When a limb falls off, Akina simply puts it in her backpack, which has many pockets. One pocket serves for her various limbs, which usually fall off small enough to fit. Other pockets hold just glitter, glitter, and more glitter, plus a side pocket for her glasses.
