*loves everything about those subgroups* <3 And the names sound perfect to me, personally. Catchy, s'what they are.
So if I wanted to hypothetically, say, have a human character around 20 years old who's been hiding in the countryside and various caves for most of his/her life, watching most of his/her family and friends turn, one by one, and who has become a sort of hardened, chain-smoking, vigilante eater slayer as a result, is that a thing that can happen? Hypothetically? I mean obviously it would depend on the timeline and such (for example, if we decide that the zombification event only occurred a few years ago or something), and it's all very fluid right now, but I just thought I'd put it out there for whenever we think about what the human/zombie dynamic will be like. >_>
...I'm probably jumping the gun on this. Am I jumping the gun on this, Reve? D: I wasn't sure whether it would be useful if we started discussing, or if there was something else you wanted to put together first.

Looks good to me! I'm pretty excited for the dynamics between the characters, personally. Mostly because I picture my character being basically just a step up from a shambling eater and being treated like he all lower class but he tries to fit in and is all totally adorkable and agh I want to write this. XD

Alright, I know that some people (myself included) are interested to know the gender ratio of the role-play characters. So if any of you already have an idea of the character you intend to role-play, now is your time to tell us all about him or her. :3 You don't have to write out a full character sheet, since there is still many things that need to be planned, and those things could affect character development. (Of course, if you are ready for a sheet then go ahead and write one up.) But, still. Just a brief blurb would be really helpful. For instance, my character will be Chelsea Adler, the apathetic, despondent, (occasionally snarky and consistently deadpan) waitress over at Memento Mori. This so we can have an idea of what ~ the cast ~ would be. I think it would quite useful in deciding what kind of place Memento Mori is - you can tell a lot about a place by it's customers. This is also my way of cheating and getting a sneak peak at all your characters muahaha.*loves everything about those subgroups* <3 And the names sound perfect to me, personally. Catchy, s'what they are. Am I jumping the gun on this, Reve? D: I wasn't sure whether it would be useful if we started discussing, or if there was something else you wanted to put together first. No not at all! This is a very good question. One of the things we will have to establish is the finer details of the zombiefication. What caused it? When did it happen? How long did it last? My personal idea of how everything passed is fairly idealistic. Well, as idealistic as you can get for a zombie apocalypse. Things happened quick, there was panic, and then things collapsed just as quickly. The initial outbreak and following pandemonium wouldn't take more than two years, the aftermath lasting something like one, and since these are smart, civilized zombies, something would be built from the ruins of the world in the next few years. I'd like to keep the outbreak as a fairly recent thing, and the concept of this zombie-run world standing on shaky, new legs. Thus, there are a lot of problems, and a lot of controversies, and no clear way of defining what is right and what is wrong re: zombie ethics. The timeline could be anywhere from seven to fifteen years, possibly less; starting with the infection, and ending about a year or two after the reconstruction of "civilization". (I'm not sure what would be the most realistic situation. But then again, this is a universe with walking skeletons and zombie BMX, so I guess anything could be possible with a little twisting.) What do the rest of you think? Does this world suit what you have in mind? I may have made the thread, and I guess that put me in the role of coordinator, but this is very much a collaborative effort and I want to hear what the rest of you think.

I think that timeline sounds good, and could easily fit in Tamia's character-- and I think it would be so cool to have both humans that have accepted their new zombie overlords and some humans who still fancy themselves zombie slayers. ^_^
As for me, I know I'd like to play a female singer skeleton zombie who works nights at Memento Mori. She will have a pet cobra or other equally awesome pet. I'm leaning towards having her be an idealist, because an idealist zombie would be awesome.

I'm playing Devin Jacques, a FtM skeleton who's a dapper jazz pianist. As far as personality goes, he's more than a little bit spiteful, under the mask of smooth jazz. He's a cynic, sarcastic, and tends to try and appear far more pleasant than he actually is. Most of this is a holdover from before the zombie -- he's actually far more pleasant now, because nobody can really question his gender when he's just a skeleton.

Oh man, this sounds just a novel I read once, the ending of which made me bawl like a baby, which is a pretty impressive for a book about zombies. If only I could remember the name of it.
Add me to this zombielist, I always say I don't have time to keep up with a roleplay but this? I will MAKE time for this.

T-T <--- Tears of Joy
So.... awwweeessssommmme....
Characters-wise: I'm likely... to make.... one... or two. If permitted, of course. As for all the details... I would very much like to see some other people's ideas/characters, as I don't want to make my zombie(s) and steal someone else's idea like a ninja; a pro ninja that didn't even know he was a ninja, and stole ideas from people's minds without even knowing it, and horded said ideas in a crystalline cave were he slept upon his pile of ideas. Still with no knowledge of being a ninja.
.____.
So... the stats so far...
Joining: ∞ Characters / Zombies: > 0 / < 3 Thought-Ninjas who live in a crystal cave: 1

Oh, also! If you could specify what category your intended character falls into (zombie subculture, human, or otherwise) then that would be really helpful too. I'll keep keeping a shortlist of participants + brief character details on the first page, so if anyone wants to use that for reference then it is there. I wish you remembered the name of it too, because then I could read it. xD And glad to have you onboard! Characters-wise: I'm likely... to make.... one... or two. If permitted, of course. If you're up for balancing more then one character, then I don't see why not! :3 I just don't want anyone going over three, because otherwise the size of our cast might get ahead of us. There will be NPCs that everyone can interact with; I'm just waiting until we get a general idea of the character diversity before posting them. (Although I will say that this list includes a zombie bouncer called Lockjaw.)

I've already mentioned my character's gender and everything, so no real need to repeat that. XD As for subculture, I'd probably say Molder, I guess? (Though obviously not too unsanitary if he's a janitor.)

Hmm. I have this idea for some kind of zombie scholar? Like, he'd be super pretentious and engage in purple prose pretty frequently, and he records everything important that happens in the zombie world and considers his job extremely important. I'm imagining him with long, scraggly white hair and this fluffy purple quill pen that he sticks behind his ear when he's not using it. I don't picture him caring much about his own appearance, so he'd probably fall into the Molder category. (Though maybe he'd be a Formal? Not sure. Or maybe he'd have originally been a Molder, but he's trying to keep up his appearance better now to try to get into some of the higher social circles or something. And probably failing. XD He could wear makeup?)
(I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep this idea yet, though. I still have to think about it.)

That timeline makes the best sense that way, yeah. I like it. =D It works fine for my character too. I hadn't really decided anything yet anyway. xD
Okay, so, going with a tentatively male human character named Flint Summerfall. Around 20 years old, although he's sort of lost track. Hard-eyed, sarcastic, and alarmingly callous when the mood hits him (which is often. Or almost always.). As a vigilante eater hunter, he kills pretty much anything that so much as moans; but he tolerates, albeit tensely, the more passive forms of zombies who frequent Memento Mori (which I'm thinking he probably visits fairly often for beverages of a strong nature, and/or information?). And his constant companion is a sword that he stole from a museum around the time of the outbreak. Yes.
What are we thinking as far as temporal setting beyond the actual zombification process goes? Does the infection basically spring up during some version of the present day as we currently know it, or is it in the future/on an altered earth or some such thing?

Alright. So unless anyone has any objections, I think we could easily make do with an eight year timeline. Or maybe a ten year timeline, since that's a nice shiny round number. Something like two years for the outbreak and following pandemonium, four years for the world to reconstruct itself, and two-four years since the rebirth of civilization. What are we thinking as far as temporal setting beyond the actual zombification process goes? Does the infection basically spring up during some version of the present day as we currently know it, or is it in the future/on an altered earth or some such thing? I am strongly considering a Twenty Minutes Into The Future situation, because that way it would give us something familiar to work with, but also some extra flexibility if needed.

I'll be playing Craig Larson. I think he was killed by a zombie back when the whole thing was getting started, but he just now woke up in his grave, sort of? If that's possible. Molder by circumstance, mid-twenties in appearance, has no idea what's going on. He suffers from a number of phobias, namely necrophobia, or the fear of dead things. Plus he's pretty squeamish and hates germs, sooo he's pretty much screwed. XD Hates being a zombie but is pretty much unable to (cleanly) kill himself right now. Craig remembers everything revolving a few months before his death, but the rest is a blur. He eventually wanders over to Memento Mori, still halfway believing he's having a nightmare. (I'm thinking he'll be more cynical once he's used to things, though still prone to blowing up and freaking out at a moment's notice.) basically he's a joke of a zombie and i can't stop drawing him arrg
