Since I've seen people sharing information on different healthcare systems and gaining a useful perspective from it, I'll just drop a little anecdote. In France, every three years, a child will get a voucher from social security for one checkup with a dentist. Pregnant women can also get this. How it goes: you get a paper and a form in the mail, inviting you to get a checkup with a dentist, for prevention. You have several months and it's valid until your birthday. When you go to the dentist's, you give them the form, and your checkup and the procedure that might follow after it - even if it's months later - are fully covered.

Bloodwork revealed everything is normal. I swear if my high blood pressure is just caused by me being anxious in the doctor's office... That actually happens to my mom, she gets super high blood pressure readings at the office, she calls it stage fright. She bought a blood pressure reader for at home to get a more accurate reading. I mean, she still has high blood pressure and takes medicine for it, it just gets really bad at the doctor's office.

I don't know how accurate those home readings are compared to the office, but good ones aren't bad (or even that expensive); it might not be a bad idea to get one if blood pressure is a concern. Especially if it's blood pressure combined with anxiety. My family got one when blood pressure became a concern for someone, and they were required to test with it on the regular. The rest of us kind of took advantage of that whenever we needed it or if we just wanted a regular reading. It's a good way to determine baseline pressure while ruling out other circumstances.

My doctor has arranged for me to get one to take home, I just need to get it. I did read that high blood pressure at the doctor's office can be caused by just anxiety about it (especially since my initial reading was not terribly high ad then it spiked afterwards). So we shall see. I will still be really annoyed at myself if I have been worried about this for nothing. But also not surprised: I am a massive hypochondriac.

Brain: "Okay, you have some good listings pulled up to choose from." Me: "Cool! =D " Brain: "You've gotten other things out of the way." Me: "Awesome! =D " Brain: "Now you just gotta establish contact with all these people and go through all the social processes this involves, all by yourself in a limited timeframe." Me: *Runs away screaming.*
Brain: "Did I mention limited timeframe-?!" Me: *CONTINUED SCREAMING*

I swear, almost every time I am leaving campus, we get caught up in rain or snow. At this point, it's more funny than frustrating.

You know what's adorable?
There is a very lazy cow on my commute that loves to lie around all day. In fact, she loves to lie around so much that there are semi-circular patches of grass that are shorter and yellower than others scattered all over her field. That cow is living her best life and I envy her.

It was federal elections in Australia today. I am a responsible and competent adult who left the house to vote today (it’s mandatory in Australia and they fine you if you don’t so...) Tonight I googled the election to see how the vote counting was going a grand total of once (apparently it’s not going as most people expected). Then I went to the supermarket to buy washing up gloves and spent the rest of the evening watching the Lorax. This is how to do proper adulting.

We had a guy come back to work with my job who is Greek. This meant filling in employment questionnaires about his right to work. They got confused over his Greek passport. Specifically whether it counted as an EU passport.
One of my more scatter-brained co-workers said "it's purple, therefore it must be EU."
Had to correct her saying that's the most common passport colour. Russian passports and Ukrainian ones are both that colour. We both had to remind co-workers that a) Greece is part of the EU and b) His passport had "European Union" written on it in Greek.
This is why Brexit is a thing, people. =|

Too grimdark and everyone in it is a jerk. Your reaction is a reasonable one.

Three times in the last hour or so the tornado siren has gone off. What has my family done in that time? Host a dinner party.

I have an Italian test tomorrow! I'm not too worried about it, I feel fairly prepared. But I feel a bit pressured to do really well, so that makes me a little nervous. Wish me luck!
