(( Omni Interesting. The difference between this time and the instances during which it has worked has been noted. For this post, did you receive notification of both the quote and the tag?)) ((Yes. I think it gives a notification if a tag or quote is added, but not if it was already there. I'm not sure about adding a quote from a different post. I'm guessing not, though I could be wrong.)) Glyph: *strangled, snorting noise* That was a joke, doctor. But not the requests part. *pause* Dr. Light, I request that you please be gentle with me. You didn't build me and I didn't build you, so we're both out of our normal environment when we work together. I'm sorry that sometimes I'm difficult, but sometimes you are too. *very long pause* ... *holds his chin, thinking* ... While it may be just my perception, I confess that I'm having difficulty remembering a time when I was unkind. The harshest I can think of being is stern, and that was always with reason. And I do have experience working with others, some of which... not so cooperative. Auto isn't even my creation. And I wouldn't call you 'difficult.' More... from a completely foreign environment, and likely experiencing culture shock. I think I can understand where you're coming from. However, I'm not sure what changes you would want me to make that would be... prudent. What exactly are you suggesting? r.robots: *giggle* The 'speaker' robot looked up at the Maverick Hunters. Most other robots in the room did too. Her head bobbed down suddenly after she made eye contact with a Reploid.robot: ... It's usually okay to look at a man's feet. Anything below the knees is acceptable, I guess. It's just looking at a guy's face that can get you in trouble. She looked up again. Most other robots' heads bobbed up and down in jerky movements. One robot stared at her feet, watching the other robots out of her peripheral vision. She spoke, her voice as waving as the Sermekan robots' heads as they tried to keep eye contact with a male.s.robot: I don't want to be rude, but I can't look at you. I'm scared. Guard6: ... *starts trying to hold back a laugh* Guard4: *glares at Guard6* Guard6: *while still trying not to laugh* I can't help it! They're like bobbleheads!Guard9: ... Anyway, there's nothing to be scared about. *joking tone* I mean, it's not like we have mind-control powers that only work if we make eye-contact! *laugh*

((Sounds right. Did you leave off the Vice section so more testing could be done?)) Glyph smiled a little.Glyph: I am glad you do not think I am difficult, but... She paused, wondering. Those times the Doctor had been mean.. were they times she had erased by going back in time to stop herself from doing what always got her into lots of trouble - being herself. But there was one instance she was certain she hadn't erased.Glyph: Sometimes, Doctor, your "stern" is mean. I'm sorry I didn't ask your permission for my friend to come over, I was just embarrassed. I didn't think you'd be so mad about it, and I really didn't think you'd make her stay outside. I invited her over because I was so lonely, and you only made it worse. Even for your culture I don't think your reaction was normal. Is there a special reason I made you extra mad that day? Why were you mean to my friend too? She didn't do anything wrong. ---- A few girls laughed nervously, but one raised and waved her hand.r.robot: Ooh! I can do that! ---- -pending-

((Sounds right. Did you leave off the Vice section so more testing could be done?)) ((I that section off because, in your previous post, it sounded like you had wrapped off the Vice section. I got that impression because you didn't mention anything specific to reply to. And because it was pretty much just the character thinking to herself, which seems to be used pretty often to finish a story. And also because, admittedly, I'm not really interested in continuing that arc. On an unrelated note, I'm curious: is the 'Pretty Sigma' thing at all like the H awkeye I nitiative?)) Glyph smiled a little.Glyph: I am glad you do not think I am difficult, but... She paused, wondering. That was... in the morning, wasn't it? I may have been a little cranky because I had just woken up. No coffee yet... In all honesty, I do prefer to know when a guest is coming over. It seems like surprise visits often come at the worst times. And because this is a lab as well as a home, I prefer to limit access to it - especially to strangers - to reduce the risk of sensitive information being leaked. ... ... Though perhaps your acting without my knowing subconsciously struck a nerve. Maybe I just have a bad history, but it seems that such actions are normally underhand. A few girls laughed nervously, but one raised and waved her hand.r.robot: Ooh! I can do that! *awkward pause* Guard9: Oh. That's... good to know. Guard4: *watching Guard6 enter something on a nearby panel* What are you doing? Guard6: I figure if there's music, we can get a real headbanging session going! Guard4: You can't- *Some dubstep starts playing, and starts strong. Guard6 immediately starts headbanging to it.*

((No.. it was just an intro. I wanted the Maverick Hunters to figure out who was causing the problems and why because unless the Maverick Hunters volunteer to help out the kids who identify themselves as non-fighters they are unlikely to get the help they need learning to master their abilities. Aside from all of that, the eggs still being there seemed like something to respond to. Pft, no. "Pretty Sigma" is unrelated to the Hawkeye Initiative. That was because littlest sis thought Vice looked creepy with her heavy eyeshadow and white lips and wanted to help me customize a new avatar.)) Glyph: ... *with a trembling voice* You really hurt me that day. Can I have a hug? ---- robot: *giggles* I'm just joking! I - what is this? r.robot: Music! r.robot: Strange.. music..

Glyph: ... *with a trembling voice* You really hurt me that day. Can I have a hug? ((Well... One, this doesn't seem like something they're likely to identify as a power gone wrong, for multiple reasons. Two, even if they did learn, I don't think they could offer much besides target practice. Three, I wasn't sure if the eggs were still there. Four, I really would like to get this thread locked. We could continue in some other thread, but I've expressed the desire to finish MoDEoN multiple times. Hmm... At this rate. Maybe we should start telling each-other what we want/mean by silence, or characters not doing anything. Granted, I guess '*pause for dramatic effect*' kinda removes the dramatic effect... Not sure whether or not it's better than the dramatic effect getting removed by accident... Hmm...)) *body tenses as he's caught between emotions* I'm... not sure I'm comfortable doing that. robot: *giggles* I'm just joking! I - what is this? r.robot: Music! r.robot: Strange.. music.. Guard4: *hits the button to turn the dubstep off* If you can call it music. *to Guard6* You know we're not supposed to- Guard6: Aw come on! You know guard duty is pretty much just standing around while nothitng happens! We might as well do something to make it a little less boring! Guard4: At the very least you could do something more tasteful and digni-!Guard6: At least it's better than your boring old classical music! Guard9: *sighs* .oO (This is going to be a long night...) ((Okay.))
Glyph turned her body away partly, and her face toward the door.
Glyph: I see. May I be excused?
Her voice was heavy, and cracked as she spoke.
----
r.robot: Um.. *raises her hand* I like music. Would you please let us listen to it? I don't care what kind gets played.

I don't care what kind gets played. ((Huh... If it's their custom not to make eye-contact, wouldn't it be possible that they wouldn't use hand-raising to catch attention, either?)) *guards 4 and 6 are still arguing, with 6 frequently cutting 4 off* Guard 9: The problem is we're not supposed to listen to music while on guard duty. If you brought music to listen with, I guess you could but... *pauses* ... *clenches fists, turns to the two guards behind him* Would you two stop it?! >.< Guard 4, 6: o.o ... Guard 9: Thank you. -_- I think right now what kind of music to listen to should be the least of our problems. Guard 4: *mumbles* ...shouldn't even be listening...Guard 9: Now what can we do that's not restricted? *awkward silence*

She jerked her body to fully face the door, bowing her head and slouching as she walked. The pace was slow and heavy, and her curls hid her face from view. Her small, pearly hands hung limply at her sides. At the door she pushed twice before recalling she needed to pull instead. There was no further mention of her requests. Once in the hall area she shuffled to her room.((We can skip to dinnertime, unless peeps decide to visit Glyph's room or are hanging out in-between her room and the door or the computer)) ---- ((Um... well, maybe, but maybe not. The no-eye-contact is only when around males. If there were male robots the rule would be for male humans, but there are not so the specification was never made. In Sermek robots send mind messages to each other, (most) lacking the ability to speak (and some the ability to hear) and (most) lacking real faces (I have sketches if you are interested) and therefore facial expressions. But an owner can read all mental messages sent to and from their workers, and even if they aren't reading the messages or scanning them the Whitened robot supervisor will be. An alternative language developed of movement patterns that could be done as long as they had or had access to something they could move. Moving a single object (like a hand) up could signify the desire to start or enter a conversation. The whole language would have to be very subtle to not catch the attention of a Whitened supervisor, who would punish for anything that wasted resources (time, energy, etc). The Maverick Hunters, still and watchful authority figures, are very reminiscent of Whitened supervisors. Hence why most girls act like statues of women in a frightened and shamed prayer. That was the idea, at least. What do you think of it? I also write them as having extremely sloppy control over unintentional noises and being shocked whenever they make them, but I wonder if they ought to make none at all. What does long-term forced silence then sudden over-freedom lead to? Same for subconscious movements like shuddering, since their Sermekan bodies did not respond to subconscious commands and weren't designed to really handle them either.)) More then a few thought back to the fall of the skybase, of their hurried exit from their homes before that, and the dread and apprehension felt when Home 5 never reported in. There was sorrow, especially for Home 5, but if did seem like everything was going to work out now. The emotional displays of the Maverick Hunters were comforting, even if they were fighting. Some girls attempted to hide their emotions.r.robot: *raises a hand to cover her mouth* r.robot: *turns away to grin* r.robot: *just smirks at the floor* r.robot: T-the least of your worries? Master, is something wrong? Is there anything we can do to help?

It doesn't really strike me as looking like a prayer, probably because I picture people doing something with their hands as well as their heads during prayer. Or if you're referring to what they're saying, it just added to the 'shamed' bit to me.)) Guard 4: No. What I meant was that we shouldn't be concerned about what to listen to so much as the penalty for listening while on guard duty. We're likely to get in trouble as it is. >_> Guard 6: Stick in the mud. <.<

((Okay)) There was a pause before Glyph cracked open the door and peeked out the robot boy.Glyph: Um, well... Her eyes fell to the floor, and she scuffed at the carpet with one foot.Glyph: I guess. She turned and walked away, letting the door fall open. She sat down on the bed and stared at her hands, clasping those tightly together in her lap.---- ((I guess religion and even denomination within a religion would come into play when I mention prayer, so never mind that analogy. You seem to have read into the writing what I intended to put into it. Anyway, the bit about the movement language and fear of authority figures, particularly ones that don't talk or move, would be things mentioned in the heavily altered 'copies' Kana gave X.)) *instant panic in the room* r.robot: No! r.robot: But you've been such wonderful guards, why would you be in trouble? r.robot: Is it something we did?
