Erm...you forgot me. >>; But I think that might actually mean Rider's a psychic, because I just realized this'll probably happen while I'm on vacation, starting next Wednesday. =/ So...I should probably remove my name from the list anyways. ^^;

[glow=red,2,300]The gardens had been tidied almost overnight, not that there was a lot of tidying to do as they had been frozen in perfection for the past several decades. Despite the heat, the identical maids are dressed in grey full-length, long-sleeve dresses and drawn anime-style. They don't seem to be breaking a sweat. Thier piercing electric-purple eyes seem almost mechanical as they fixed on the back of Rider's neck. The young pirate avoids thier gaze and brushes imaginary dust off the elegant patio furniture.
Like a bucket of ice water dumped down her back, Rider could feel a third pair of eyes on the back of her neck. She suppressed her shudders as the tournament participants came straggling in, dressed in varying degrees of bizarre. A ninja-girl and her cat-uncle, a dragon, a pirate and a Spacefleet professor, a Knight who kept playing with the anti-mosquito candles, a Nobody, a Zafara mage and goodness-knows-what-else.
Ironically, the chronomancer was the last to arrive. Rider just about beat him over the head with his own pocketwatch.
When all were seated, the master of the house spoke. Though he was speaking from a second-story window, his cool voice sounded as if he were standing right before the competitors.
"Pah, is this all this region can offer? My efforts are wasted on such a sorry bunch. A pity, I was expecting much more of a challenge."
Hunter was getting his noob-be-gone ready under the table. Spoon was practically rusting himself with withheld comebacks. Only the glare of the maids and the promise of shinies kept them in their seats.
"So angry, so soon? I doubt any with such a short temper could earn my favor. Do not waste my time. By the way, Jina, you seem to have a bug on the back of your shirt."
One of the maids was staring at Jina's back as he said this. She smiled a semi-robotic smile.
"I look forward to a clean fight from everyone. Let the games begin."[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Interlude: A Plot Unfolds
The second piece of the puzzle had fallen into place.
"The first round of the tournament, is it not over?"
The maid was silent. She paced the dining room with that same mechanical gait. Her twin stiffly swept the floor in mechanical circles.
"The katana, is it in the Drawing Room as I requested?"
The pacing maid nodded silently.
"There is no more time to waste! Time has been stolen from me already!"
"When will you be ready for the next part?" Rider asked. It was all she could do to keep the anxiety out of her voice.
"I am ready!" he just about roared. "Keep an eye on the Zafara. Her match did not take enough time at all. Hah, her opponent was weak."
Rider opened her mouth to protest, but was quickly shushed.
"Scarven was timid and backed down from someone who had not yet proved herself. He's far too weak to be of any use. No, I will only have the strongest.
"Like I said... keep an eye on the Zafara-mage. She has not yet proved herself. The path is about to get a lot more difficult... for everyone."[/glow]
