Confrontations
The following day, the body parts were dumped off at a local landfill. No one wanted to see them -- not even for a funeral. A memorial service was held with an empty casket, which was kept closed throughout the duration of the program. After the program had finished, everyone solemnly returned to their rooms. Carrie had been a friend to almost everyone at the Forum and her passing hit them hard, regardless of the others before her.
The Forum was silent for many days after that. The only words that were exchanged were when they people were about to fall asleep or to wake them up. No usual happenings occurred. One of these happenings were the killings. This was a welcome change and many hoped it would stay that way and they would be released. Maybe the killer had stopped -- found the error of his ways.
But, that night, the killer struck again. With a vengeance. The target? Sirius. As he was walking down the halls, heading towards his room, the killer came out, a pistol in hand. The night sky and moon peered in through a large window but, other than that, the hall was dark. No one roamed the halls; no one dared this time of night. But Sirius was thirsty and just had to get water.
And now the killer was in front of him, gun cocked. His eyes could be seen. Only a handkerchief covered the face. The eyes were familiar -- everyone had seen them. Sirius looked on in horror as the killer came a few inches closer. “Hello, Sirius…” he said. It was obvious the killer was disguising his voice. “Ready to be killed?”
Sirius gulped. “Why do you want to kill me? Why…why do you want to kill the others?”
The handkerchief stretched a bit and Sirius could tell he was smiling. “Because I can.”
The words sent a chill down his spine. “Who are you?”
The killer sighed, then his eyes lit up. “Since you’re going to die anyway, I’ll show you. I think you’ll be quite surprised. Now, stand back and if you make one noise I’ll blow your darn brains out -- right here and right now.” The killer ripped off the handkerchief with one hand, revealing his face.
Sirius gasped, unable to say a word. Then, he finally mustered up the courage to say exactly what was on his mind. “You scoundrel!” he yelled out. Shots rang out and Sirius lay dead on the floor…
Bit of a twisty. Didn't think I could kill myself now, right? Well, short but I'm gonna make a large amount of short chapters...cause I can.
