Dead and Alive
Sirius stayed silent, looking curiously at the knife pointed in front at him. Blood dripped from the tip of the weapon onto the floor, adding to the pool of blood already collected on the floor from Blubbeh’s knife wound.
Blubbeh was gasping, clutching his stomach. He coughed and sputtered, blood forming in his mouth and dropping slowly down his chin. Sirius was starting to walk over to him when the killer lunged.
Sirius expertly ducked out of the way, sending the killer to the floor. He quickly regained his stance, throwing the knife toward Sirius. It struck him in the shoulder and he slowly ripped it out, clutching onto his bleeding arm.
“Now, Sirius, get the hell over here and watch your friend die,” the killer said as he grabbed the injured shoulder and tugged it, causing Sirius to grit his teeth. He was placed in front of Blubbeh, who was slowly dying.
Sirius flinched as the killer held Blubbeh down and sat down on top of his stomach, causing him to shout. The killer took the knife and started to scrape it across his face, making small marks. He then made a quick and short job on Blub’s forehead and dark red blood started to pour over his eyes. Blood continued to come out of his mouth every time he coughed. “Si..” he tried to speak, but couldn’t finished his sentence as the killer plunged the knife into his throat, ending Blubbeh’s life.
“Oh...BLUB!” Sirius yelled, running over to the killer and ripping him off the dead body and started to land hard punches into his face. “You...you...” Sirius started to yell out a long string of curses, continuing to punch the killer.
But it wasn’t over then. The killer plunged the knife into Sirius’ arm and, twisting it around, started to get up from the floor. He the quickly ripped it out and ran down the hall, into a room...
Sirius lay there, clutching both arm wounds, his mind racing as tears poured down his face, wondering if he was going to die...
“Is he alive?” “Oh my God, look at Blub.” “What the hell happened?” “Settle down.” “Is he still breathing?” “WHAT HAPPENED?” “Please, settle down.”
Tdyans pushed to the front off the crowd again and examined the bodies. “Blubbeh’s dead but...Sirius seems fine,” she said and told two people to bring him to the hospital. Sirius was picked up and carried off as Tdyans continued to speak. “Struggle was apparent here; no doubting that. The killer attacked these two, anticipating the murder of both but only was able to kill one. Blubbeh will be taken...” – Tdyans glanced over at the mauled body – “, with what is left of him, and a service will be held later tonight. From now on, everyone will be tracked intently, though we are releasing you from your rooms. Surveillance will be top-notch and new cameras will be installed in a matter of hours. When we bring word, you can go see how Sirius’ is doing in the hospital after we ask him a few questions about what he saw. He will be watched intently over the time he is in there.”
Whispers and murmurs were exchanged as Tdyans stopped talking and went back into the crowd, past it, and towards the administrative room. Everyone quickly returned to their rooms, eager to discuss and reminisce on what had happened...
A few days later, the deaths had stopped. The speculation was that the killer was lying low after the events of the nights’ previous. Sirius recovered soon, and only had to wear a cast and was able to walk around, but the doctors had told him to stay in the room for safety and to make sure he was stable.
And, that day, Patjade and Tdyans visited the injured Sirius to ask questions about the murder. Tdyans was holding a pad and pen, ready to write down the information while it appeared that Patjade would be answering the questions.
“What can you tell us about the attack?” Patjade asked.
Sirius shifted his injured arm. “We were bringing Stal’s body to the room and Blubbeh was coming back from the room where the bodies were put and I noticed he wasn’t walking behind me so I looked around, called out his name a few times, and then while turning around saw the killer with a knife to his throat.”
“Did you catch the face of the murderer?” asked Patjade, while Tdyans finished scribbling on the paper.
“No, he wore a mask,” Sirius replied.
“He?”
“Just a generalization. The voice didn’t give anything away - neither masculine or feminine. It may have been that the killer was disguising it.”
“Any notable features?”
“None that I could see. A few inches shorter than me, white, pretty slim. Nothing else.”
“Intimidating?”
“Yes.”
“Scary.”
“Yes.”
“Are you nervous now?”
“Nervous as hell.”
“Did he say anything about coming back?”
“No. He just stabbed my arm and ran off.”
“Which direction.”
Sirius’ brow furrowed. “I don’t...I don’t remember...”
Patjade nodded. “Okay, thanks. Is it okay if we let visitors see you?”
Sirius gave a short nod and Tdyans and Patjade got up from their seats and exited the room, allowing visitors to come in.
