I finally saw the movie yesterday. xD I was getting tired of everyone I know boasting about the 11 times or whatever they went to the movie and all the stuff in it. It was a bit... disappointing. I mean, it's one thing to take out parts, but to change details? I KNOW the movie will never be like the book - and it's always like this - but there are some things they shouldn't have changed... like the fact - SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER Harry woke up from the dream straight in the Burrow, yet in the book he wakes up at his cousins' house and after a while he gets to the Burrow (right?)... AND also that Neville DID tell Harry that he needs gillyweed when in the book there is a part purposely about how Harry was too proud to ask anyone for help. Oh, and they made Dumbledore way too fierce, he was practically jumping on Harry and shaking him like crazy when he asked him if he entered, yet in the book he asks him quite calmly. I wish they put the Quiddich match, though... and some other stuff...

If you ignore, for a moment, that the movie is based on a book, then it's pretty good. If you compare it to the book, it's pretty bad. Pouncy-Dumbledore is really just a [poor] interpretation of Dumbledore by both the actor who plays him, and the director.
(SPOILER) And they left out all the house elves! I can just imagine Hermione fuming, foaming at the mouth about that in a S.P.E.W. meeting. "OMGWTF!!1! HOUSE ELF DISCRIMINATION! Let's go to that screenplay writer's house and burn all his money!"

Moaning Myrtle PWN'D.
And, Undead Penguin, I agree. Dobby is too perfect to be left out. But Neville going, "I've killed Harry Potter! 1!11!!! :`(" and then Harry doing this gigantic SPLASH behind him. XD

I agree. That's probably what irked me most about the movie: the portrayal of Dumbledore.

If you ignore, for a moment, that the movie is based on a book, then it's pretty good. If you compare it to the book, it's pretty bad. Pouncy-Dumbledore is really just a [poor] interpretation of Dumbledore by both the actor who plays him, and the director. The first two movies were pretty much by the book and they were, in so many ways, terrible. True, they were as canon as one could get, but...is that so great? To be honest, if I wanted a canon movie, I could just read the book. Speaking to a friend who loves LOTR like I love Harry she said the reason she loved the LOTR movies was that they were a sort of 'take' on the books. Indeed, many movies that are based on something (comics, per se) are 'takes'. That is, I feel, why the last two movies have been so great, because they were takes. On would argue that the books three and four were good, but I must say that book one is one of the best books of the series (book two? Erm...yeah, I think I've only read it three times, compared with the thirty plus times I've read the fourth book). But, when the movies are a 'take' it feels less like an infringement on the books. It's not like they're trying to 'replace' them, or even try to compete, it's something entirely different. ...but yeah, just saw the movie again (fifth time) with my trusty Luscius cane at my side. To give a quick note: when Luscius slams the cane down on Harry's hand you notice he did it with the snake's mouth. I have NO idea how he did this seeing as how the snakes fangs are really sharp. I've slices my finger on them. To give another quick note: V = Strangley attractive...

Yeah V is attractive. I find him better looking than H or D. But then again, I think H and D are ugly. --;

I hated the fourth movie. It left out all character developments and all the really fun parts of the book. It seemed horribly rushed, and the music...*stangles whoever wouldn't let John Williams compose for the 4th movie as well*
Yeah. The 3rd movie pwns you and your grandma. *nodnod*

... Well, we COULD just have a giant book on the screen that turns pages every 10 minutes Good point. If it's gotta be JUST like the book, why bother? And besides, the various subplots in the book are totally useless. I may've said so before, but the Sphynx in the maze was BORING. Oh, and why isn't anyone considering the possibility that John Williams just didn't WANT to compose the music for this movie? I personally saw nothing wrong with the music; it wasn't thrilling, but it was just... There, so to speak, I had no feelings about it. I'm not sayin' it was bad.
