Wow, that was an experience. Not just the movie, but the whole process of getting there, etc. Me and my best friend Brandon had pre-ordered tickets for a 5:30 showing. We got there at 3:30, with my other best friend Dominique, who hadn't gotten a pre-ordered ticket (even though I had nagged her to). When she asked for a ticket at 5:30, the woman just looked at her and pointed to the showtimes board behind her. We looked at the remaining showtimes (5:30, 6:00, 6:30. 7:00, etc.) and then suddenly they all turned to SOLD OUT. We were freaking out to say the least because it definitely wouldn't be the same if Dominique wasn't there. By a miracle, though, there were still some tickets left for 4:30, so we exchanged our tickets for those. Unfortunately, there was a huge line already for 4:30, but thankfully it wasn't big enough for us to sit in the front which would have been horrible. We looked at 5:30 and there were only 4 people in line (ouch XD). Well, we got in and it was an absolute insane race with everyone to find decent seats. We were scrambling everywhere and managed to find three perfects one (though they were on the left side, it was in the middle and you mostly had a perfect view). So, the movie started.
And I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Really, this is true work of art, unlike the last ones, which were definitely entertating, but purely commercial. But this is what cinema should be like. I was really overwhelmed throughout the entire course of the movie. I had to admit that when Harry was at Ron's house when he woke up from his dream was a tad bit stupid (and what the hell, Hermione woke him up from it?. Everything was a bundle of rush in the beginning, and I didn't quite enjoy it. Even worse was when they didn't even show the Quidditch World Cup match. The stadium was amazing! And so were the leprechauns taking into the shape of stuff, but where the hell were the Veelas? I was looking forward to seeing those. AND THEY CUT OUT THE darn MATCH! That's too dumb.
Anywho, it was excellent afterwards, and I was dissapointed to see that Rita Skeeter wasn't in it much, because she was hilarious. Madame Maxime provided some big laughs, and Fleur looked stunning in the movie (I don't know why, but she looked so different on my computer ). I love the humour that they used in this movie. It's not the cheesy kiddie jokes in the previous movies and actually made me laugh out loud!
O. M. G. What the hell happened with Cho. She was like totally wrong. She had this horrible wierd accent and I didn't get a word out of what she said. God, the casting directors could have picked someone so much better (but J.K. Rowling made it a point that she wanted an unknown to play Cho Chang).
One of my favorite scenes was admitely the Yule Ball. It was beautifully crafted (too bad Ron didn't score with Hermione, but when he asked her it was too hilarious and idiotc to even cosider saying yes). Hermione was lousy' hot and I am a rabid fan forever. ^_^
But did anyone else notice that she just didn't too much in this movie? I mean, sure, she was a problem for Ron and gave some info to Harry, but other then that, all she would do is cry and shout and do everything from the sidelines. It was dissapointing, to say the least, especially after the last movie, where she was actually a strong character.
Now, the big question is: are the challenges well-made? Dude, they're 'bloody brilliant'! I'm not sure I can decide which one is better: the dragon challenge or the Merpeople one. The dragon was a thrill sure, and I was terrified when the tail almost slammed on Harry. It was amazing how they flew through the air and Harry was dangling hundreds of feet into the air. Wonderful suspense. And the Mer-People challenge was just exactly like how I imagined. I loved how the 'victims' were placed. They looked like dolls. XD
To say that the last challenge was dissapointing is an understandment. I mean, it sucked. I'm sorry but it did. Where the hell was the Sphinx, which was like the most important part of the maze? It was just too quick. But then they went into the graveyard...
And I was absolutely terrified and overwhelmed. Seriously, I started to get this rash on my ankle, I was sweating profusely, my heart was beating very fast, and I continually wished silently that it would end as fast as possible. Voldemort just completely freaked me out.
Okay, the ending was just amazing. I loved the last shot of the three's backs turned to the camera then you see the carriage from Beauxbatons flying away. It was so much better then the ugly shot of Harry's face at the end.
Overall, this HP movie was definitely my favorite. It's more entertaining, action-y, and funnier then the first and second, and definitely not as boring as the third, where it kept trying to say 'We're going through puberty!' and tried to showcare their teenage angst all throughout. Here, we get it, and it seems real. And it's truly a terrifying movie, and works more effectively then most 'horror movies' when it reached the graveyard scene.
Haha, I'm seeing it tomorrow again with my mom and dad, and I'm totally excited, because I missed ten minutes off it while going to the bathroom which had a huge line-up.
GO. SEE. HP4.
