Wow songs... let's see.
I'd have to say my biggest wow song of all time is Protest to Praise by Downhere. If you can pack more make-you-wanna-jump-up-and-down-energy into one song, I'll be pretty surprised.
Absolutely anything by Downhere is fantastic... my favorites include:
- Great Are You - Calmer of the Storm - Making Me - Protest to Praise - What It's Like - Starspin - Headed (pure awesome) - A Better Way - Little is Much - I'm All About You - Not About Wings - Rockstars Need Money
But all of their stuff is extraordinary to the extreme. Check them out and you won't be disappointed, unless magnificent lyrics, vocals, and music disappoints you. </plug>
Some more of my favorite songs:
Sanctuary - Kevin Max Crayons Can Melt On Us For All I Care - Relient K Deathbed - Relient K Be My Escape - Relient K Forward Motion - Relient K Innocence Again - Switchfoot The Loser - Switchfoot You - Switchfoot Only Hope - Switchfoot The entire CD Nothing Is Sound by Switchfoot... the songs are great, but they're just about unbeatable if you listen to them all together. Revenge - Switchfoot The Black Gate Opens - Howard Shore.

There's not many songs that make me think "OMG... that's so beautiful/crazy/whatever"... but here's a few The Last Song I'm Wasting on You by Evanescence (so beautiful....) Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna (I thought the beat was awesome) Smile by Lily Allen (this was more of an "oh dear" moment... xD) That's what I think of when I think of songs that are "wow"... but if I must follow the rules and say songs that I was absorbed in/couldn't get enough of, I'd say only The Last Song I'm Wasting on You and Never Again by Kelly Clarkson.

I think the first song I was really reeeeaaaallllllyyyy in love with was Maroon 5's "The Sun". Maybe it was the music in it, but it's such a sad and captivating song, both melody-wise and lyrical... almost bizarre...

Sorry if this is a repost, but the one song that can make me feel better when all else fails has got to be "Mr Blue Sky" by ELO.
I can listen to it whenever, and ALWAYS manage to feel better about myself.

I can listen to it whenever, and ALWAYS manage to feel better about myself. I know what you mean - it's the same with me, but with a different song ("Lullabye for a Stormy Night" by Vienna Teng).

I've recently taken a liking to Nickelback. "Rockstar" is my current favorite song. I just love the lyrics and Chad Kroger's scratchy rocker voice. I think I've already said "Iris" (Goo Goo Dolls), but it's fantastic as well... which is why a lot of people said it, I guess. ^^

Vocal songs hardly ever have this effect on me - but I do know what you mean. "Another Side" is mine. It's from the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix soundtrack, and it was the music to the KHII trailer Deep Dive. And.... well... wow... really gets me every time. The pure emotion and atmosphere of Deep Dive/Another Side is really something. Of course, it's better if you've seen the video. youtube.com/watch?v=cgeUwWzkqSISanctuary/Passion by Utada Hikaru is probably the only song that's even come close to having that effect on me. And another instrumental, "Weehawken Ferry" from the soundtrack of Cinderella Man for some reason. But Another Side is still the best.

I recently started liking the live versions of They Might Be Giants' "Birdhouse In Your Soul". I love the studio one, but the live versions are perhaps prettier.

Storms In Africa - Enya -- Not only does it remind me of my favourtie KH pairing (hehe), it feels relaxing to listen to. Plus, it'd be nice to see it rain in Africa. Makes the place more beautiful. ^^ Flicker - Up Dharma Down -- This song was used for an international Pinoy horror film (Anyone familiar with "Ang Pamana/The Inheritance"?) and believe me, it's GOOD. (The song, not the movie. >_>) This instrumental piece from Kingdom Hearts II which title I don't know. >_> -- It's slow, sad-sounding, and very, VERY beautiful. ;D

Can't believe I've forgotten about the music from Cave Story...
'Moonsong,' 'Toroko's Theme' and 'Final Battle' by Studio Pixel.
