Was that changed recently? Several authors with continued series in the past who would have significantly fewer without each individual part (child_dragon, for example, would have twenty less from the individual parts of "As Told By" alone). So, is it a mistake on Donna's part or a change in the Times-trophy-giver-people? Or was this person talking about the Storytelling Competition or something and I've misunderstood?
I'm rather confused....

Yeah, I was thinkning the same thing! The Editorials have been kinda weird, latley, giving out information that contrdicts other statements. I think it was a mistake or something.

I think the way the question was worded was just misinterpreted. Maybe the person asking the question was talking about continued series, (where you send in all of the parts of the story at once and each part is published one week at a time) and the staff thought they meant something along the lines of continued stories, where it would be a weekly sequel concerning short stories.
I dunno, that's just my guess.. it dosen't really make much sense, really, but that question caught my eye, too.

I don't think that Donna really KNOWS what goes on with the NT and it's policies. She writes the editorial, and her and Adam give the general guidelines, but then it is up to the NT Staff (Darrell & Felicia) to do what is right.
Think about it. Sure, some writers don't give a fig about trophies, but for those that do, what would be the incentive to write a multipart series, as opposed to writing several short stories covering the same ground?
I hope Darrell or Felicia will see this and respond.

I remember when my first series (actual SERIES, not a bunch of shorts) was published...I was so shocked when the second trophy appeared with the second week, I had thought the first time was the end of it.
It's true that for a continued series, you get a trophy for each part. I can testify to that, being more inclined to write series than shorts. I wonder what's up with THAT question and answer...

According to me, Donna don't ask the one who is in charge of the thing the question what asked to her.(Do that sentence make sense?) Remember the Petpet Protection League one last week?

I thought the question was ambiguous enough that my impression was that Donna thought they were talking about the Adventure Generator, not the Neopian Times... but I could be wrong.

I always thought of a series as just a collection of connected short stories - each part COULD stand alone, but they really should be read together. Therefore it only makes sense that each part of a series should count as an individual trophy... but that's just me.

Good point. It's not the first time that Donna's answered a question incorrectly, and I think that's just what the case is here. Nothing to worry about.
