The picture of Friskitorius I entered in the BC this past week won first in Gelerts and third Overall.
In the old system, it was nigh impossible to place in Gelerts (or Lupes, or Kougras, etc.) unless you had connections; and Overall.. that's all about ads on sites.
I'm... shocked. Amazed, and grateful. I'd pretty much lost hope of the BC ever being remotely fair, but a lot of good art placed this week!
Sure, the rare item I got is only worth 400NP, but I don't care -- I'm jazzed about this change working for the better! Whee!

Edit: Wow, I just looked up the number of votes and I got 143, the nearest person had 27!

The BC has changed so no one can see the number of votes they have until the contest is over. Therefore, no one can see who's winning until after the fact. This does a few things for the contest: 1) It eliminates the people who just voted for whatever was on the first page (and there were a lot). 2) It makes vote trading suspicious and obsolete -- you can't vote trade if you can't be sure that person voted for you. 3) The vote goals and races that peppered the BC board in the past (all the "only 1000 votes til first!!!!1111oneone" and "my goal is 500 votes, plz help!" posts) are nonexistent, since no one has any numbers to point to. Less people do vote now, yes, but that also makes every vote worth that much more. I really dig it.  |

I'm still dancing. ^-^ I needed that 10k and it came at just the right time too. I have a feeling that Phampy1 is going to be winning a lot more BC's from now on.

Judging by everyones sucess and the lack of entries I entered! I noticed there was a pretty big decress in entries after the new system. The 17k limit killed the picture. Now it's all blurry, but I still think it has a good chance.

I regret not entering a little later. My picture was behind two other really good ones, so I only got 57 votes - third for species.

I entered Gorastah in the next contest... The picture was somewhere around 360 kb, so I copied a picture of her head and kept shrinking it until it fit the maximum size, and uploaded the GOOD picture onto her petpage... And I put capital letters under her entry telling people to go to her petpage.
