You may have read my banter board thread on a certain cafeteria lunch lady. Well, this is about a different one.
There are several different sections of my school cafeteria including a snack zone where you pay per item, a buffet zone where you pay per combo, and a salad bar where you pay an all-you-can-eat price. There are more options there than I've seen in any other cafeteria. Overall, it's really nice. But the system does have some flaws.
I had gotten a pizza at the buffet zone because the salad bar item that day had meat in it. But then I realized that on the bar itself it had the really good strawberry yogurt I LOVE that is only served twice a week, and only once a week with real strawberries chopped up in it. So even though I had already paid for the pizza, I go and buy a salad bar. When the lady running the bar saw that all I wanted was some yogurt she said, "I'm not going to charge you $1.75 for a bowl of yogurt! Just have it on the house. It's getting late and pretty soon I'll have to throw it out anyway."
That made me so happy! It's really not more than should be expected of someone, true, but it's more than most do these days nonetheless. Maybe if I see her at the bar again I can ask her to find out for me whether the eggrolls are vegetarian or not. I hope they are - they look so good!

That was so nice of her! I love it when you get an unexpected bonus...or find money on the floor...or get strawberry yogurt free! ;D
