I've seen a lot of rants about bad teachers so I'm starting this thread for people to talk about their good teachers and reassure everyone that there is hope in this world.
I can't really talk about my present teachers cause I don't know them well enough... instead I'll list three of my high school ones.
The first is Mrs. Vance. She was my sophmore English teacher and was the first person to encourage my writing. She knew what was important to me and was willing to stand up for me to prevent me from loosing it. When my band director was pushing to get me thrown out of band she went to the principal and told him straight out that he couldn't let that happen. Apparently she even passed the word around to a couple other teachers who also went to the principal on my behalf. It was incredible.
The second teacher is Mr. Koontz. This guy was crazy. He was a teacher even before my parents were in high school. He taught physics and I had him two years in a row along with three years in chess club, two of those spent virtually running the club as president. He did all these crazy experiments in his class which usually involved pain and electricity... Here's an example conversation with thim.
Koontz: Stop trying to weasel more points out of me!
Me: I'm not weaseling!
Koontz: Pi-dle! Now stop sucking up and go away!
Me: I can't! We have a chess meeting today.
Kootz: Oh phooey. Guess I'm stuck with you then. Why are you still standing at my desk!? GET!!
He's tried to retire a couple times but the students protested too much that he stayed on teaching part time.
Last is Mr. Maite, arguebly the greatest English teacher around. He cared more for teaching thestudents to learn than rote memorization. I owe my current sense of self-esteem to him. He taught me to think, to stand up for myself, and that there are some things that are more important than grades and a good job. I learned to chase my dreams and to believe in them. He understood students and for that reason the students that desperately needed help just flocked to him. I sincerely hope everyone encounters a teacher like him at some point in their lives.
Alright, I'm done. Now go brag on your teachers.

Here are my fave teachers.
Miss Congrave, my German teacher. My German class was really noisy and the kids in it were really naught so she had to keep telling them off and me and my friend had to listen to her shouting at all of the other students. After lesson though she called us over to her desk saying how we were really great students being able to put up with the others in the class and that she didn't mean to shout at us too. Also, she said that if we needed help or someone to talk to then we could see her and she'd try to help us. She was one of the best teachers around.

Lemme see - I seem to have a lot of good teachers. In Year 2, Mrs Castle was really encouraging. I was moved up a couple of terms early but I never felt left behind. She was a great teacher and we were her last ever class before she retired. In Year 4, Mr Burcombe was always allowing me to go ahead and do extra work etc. He was really nice and made sure he paid attention to me - a lot of teachers tended to ignore me because I could do the work and only helped the stupid kids. In Year 6, the English teacher and head of the Junior school. That year was really hard work and they pushed us a lot, so I got to do some extra English classes too. That year made my writing style mature a lot. In Year 9, we had one of the greatest English teachers. She still stops to say hello if we pass in the corridors. She knew what manga and anime was and she loved Terry Pratchett too. She encouraged me to become an author when I grow up. And my French teacher last year, who let me laugh throughout her lesson and learn karate in boring moments, was very sympathic to my persistant doodling (I doodled all over a piece of work and when she handed it back it said "You like art? You are good at it." in French ) Our form and Geography teacher who allowed me to be "cheeky" and make the class laugh. Both History teachers who are great teachers and make the subject interesting, plus have a sense of humour. I have lots of great teachers

I really like most of the teachers at my school, but I'll only list a few.
Miss Jennifer: She was a really great grade 1 teacher. Back then, I didn't know a word of english, and she just tought me almost everything I know in english. She was really, REALLY nice. Maybe the fact that we were only six in the whole class helped too...
Madame Clarke: She was the only teacher up-to-date to be able to be very severe with the jerks of the class and still be very loose with the rest of us. I still have her this year for french, and she still is the awesome teacher she was last year.
Mr. St-Cyr: I haven't seen much of Jean-René, but he is already on my list of good teachers. He's really funny, and gives a LOT of work, which I really like. Yes, I like having a lot of work to keep me busy in class...
Mrs Thériault: My english teacher this year and in grade 3. She doesn't treat us like babies, like most teachers do, and helps a lot with science fair projects.
Mr Enros: The gym teacher which I had since grade 2. He helps a lot, especially when you don't know how to throw a football properly...
Mrs Scroggins: My english teacher last year. She is really nice, and taught me how to do public speaking properly. With her help, I actually got to participate in the regional finals in public speaking. I'm also trying to go this year...

Mrs. Prior - She was a GREAT first grade teacher. We called her Miss Frizzle because she was so unpredicatble. She had a cabinet in the corner that we never knew what would come out of. She played the guitar and taught us funny songs that I still like to sing occasionally. And she had rats. Two adorible little rats name Monica and Rachel. Rachel was even more fun the Mrs. Prior herself. And she (Mrs. Prior, not Rachel) would tell us stories about her cats and her previous students and all sorts of fun things. She rocked.
Miss Kowalczyk - Miss Kowalczyk was my Fifth Grade teacher. She was so incredibly sweet, she sometimes seemed like just a little four year old girl - and she had the voice to match. You know Ms. Green, the teacher for Early Neopian History? That would be Miss. Kowalczyk in Neopet form. She even had that same sweater but in beige!
Miss Parker - Miss Parker is my current English teacher. She is a total hippie, and she rocks. She always reads the poems I write and helps me find ways to display them. Of all the teachers I've had, she is the most encouraging and helpful. And sometimes she'll just shout "DEBATE!" and we get to debate on a random topic. And she always comes up with the most interesting assignments.
My Mom - Yes, my mom was my teacher for Seventh Grade and most of Sixth. She knew absolutely nothing about physics or algebra, but I got a much better education in Social Studies than any of my friends in school. All the official social studies teachers I've ever met are annoying and boring in their method of teaching, but Mom focused on the feelings of people, the humorous anecdotes, the bits of irony, and other things that just put American History all into place for me. And she taught me about different religions, which is something I would never have goten in school. Not to mention that she's the only teacher I've ever had who wasn't paid anything to teach me, and had to balance her time teaching with finding the money to support our family. She is not only the best mom ever, but also the best teacher.

Mr. Karaskevicus: He was my 7th grade Science teaher. He was always humorus, witty, liked to joke around with kids, and knew alot about his subject matter. He would quite offten get off track and spend half the class just talking about something that had nothing to do with anything. He was a little nuts, though. And he didn't even mind it when I called him Paul (his first name) to bug him.
Mrs. Mitchell: If it hadn't been for her, I would've never even picked up a pen. She had to teach us about writing in the 4th grade, as in Florida, you took special writing tests in the 4th grade. She realized how much potential I had, and helped me lay down the basics for writing. She was the one whom from I first read Harry Potter!
In my time, I've found that Science and Social Studies teachers always seem to be the most knowledgeable when it comes to things outside the textbook.

Mrs.Cruise: She was my kindergarden teacher and a really nice lady at that. She let me be the first to take home the new class pet, Fluffy (the old rabbit sadly had to be put down) and was so nice to me. The best was that one day her son substuted for my 5th grade class and was reading out the role-call when he came to my name. "Lauren? You're not THE Lauren are you?". It seems that Mrs.Cruise always used to say about what a good and wonderful student I was...and it was really amazing to be remebered after all those years.
Mrs.Farbizarz: She humored me with my Harry obsession, and for that I give her my deeptest thanks. She helped me get better with my AP writing, and finally broke down and read Harry after she said how much she hated it. Lo and behold I stopped by her room this year and she just explained to me how much she loved Harry (this makes about sevene people I've convinced to read Harry! I'm like a travling Harry-converter type person).
Ms.Utter: It's amazing how the most hated teacher in three different schools is my favorite. She was the teacher of 8th grade science in my middle school, and everyone always said how she was an awful, awful woman and if you got her...she would fail you. Same rumors at Western High, and then in Cypress Bay. I had her for chemistry and needless to say that I was terrified that I would fail myserably. But she turned out to be one of the coolest teachers I have ever had. She made chemistry understable, ever to ME, and acutaly rewarded the fact that I always did my homework (as other teachers normaly don't) by bumping up my grade from an 87% to a 90% because she liked me. Not many teachers do that, heck... had one who wouldn't bump up my 89% to an A because she said that it's not her problem. Ironicly, out of everyone who I've talked to who either had her or is having her, I am the only person apparently in the hsitory of like, forever, to think she rocks.

Miss Fisher/Mrs. Peifer-She's the nicest 3rd/4th grade teacher IN THE WORLD! And believe me, I've seen plenty of 3rd/4th grade teachers. I was at the wedding where Miss Fisher became Mrs. Peifer. Mrs. Arnold- Easily the most beloved teacher at my elementary school. Who's the fifth grade teacher who loves Calvin and Hobbes almost as much as I do, has a giant carboard cutout of Bobby Labonte and a Bobby Labonte bobblehead and a Bobby Labonte plushie and a Bobby Labonte basketball and a Bobby Labonte Fyora-Knows-What-Else, squirts her students with a dinosaur squirt toy, has some of the most literate conversations in the world, has a NASCAR obsession (but I think all that Bobby Labonte made that clear already), and drinks WAAAAAAAY too much Mountain Dew? MRS. ARNOLD! She doesn't watch at recess- she PLAYS at recess. And if you ask me, she's one of the funnest people in the world! Mr. Sutphin- Despite what some people seem to think, his last name is not Sumthin, Suffin, Puffin, or Stuffin. See above note on Mrs. Arnold... gosh, these two MUST be realted somehow! Except his obsession isn't NASCAR- it's college football ("American" version, not the no-hands sport I happen to love). He can also yell really loud. I admire people who can yell really loud. (He reserves this talent for outside while signaling that the buses are leaving and anybody not on them who needs to be should hurry up.)
