Does anyone remember, way back in an Issue 83 Review Thread in another dimenision, when Lugia wrote these words?
Houston, we have blue cows...
Basically, the comics- and the whole durn NT, for that matter, but mostly the comics -are getting better and better every day. So there's still a few brown cows out there... but the blue cows are slowly eliminating them. ANd that, my friends, is a good thing.
(Me? I'm the Mootix chomping on the cows' rear ends.)
Okay. Let's say you have a field of purple cows. You love these purple cows, because they're so pretty and they produce the tastiest milk you've ever come across. One day, one of the purple cows gets sick and dies. You're very sad by this. Other people notice your sadness and give you two brown cows in return. You don't like these brown cows as much because they're so boring in color and the milk isn't as good. You accept them however, and your field is fine. Suddenly, another purple cow gets sick and dies. More people have moved into your town, and for your purple cow you are given *three* brown cows. 'Well,' you think, 'I have a lot more cows than I started with.' You accept the new cows. Over time, all the purple cows have died off. You've noticed a few ancient green cows return to your field, but for the most part you're stuck with brown cows. You know that purple cows are extinct, but you still long for them. Because your saddened by the purple cows' departure, you don't feed or pay as much attention to your brown cows. You also don't think as highly of them, even though their milk is slowly starting to get better. You just can't let go of the memory of the purple cows...
Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that the old comics aren't coming back. The goody-two-shoes television shows aren't coming back. Elvis isn't coming back (or is he?). Yes, the comics suck for the most part right now, but if you keep basing these new comics (or "cows") on the old gems, then you'll never think highly of comics again. Give the newer ones a chance, I say. Sooner or later new gems will show up. Blue cows will suddenly show up, and you know how much blue cows are just as good as purple cows. Then your field will be pretty once more.
