Whoo! I'm happy to say that I've moved up from DDR fanatic to the level of DDR master.
DDR, or Dance Dance Revolution is a highly addictive game where you have a dance pad that you have up, down, left, and right arrows on. When the arrows travel up the screen, you have to hit the corresponding arrow. It goes in level of hardness from 1 footers to 10 footers.
On 10 footers, your feet are a complete blur, and it looks like the people who play them are just floating because their feet never touch the ground for more than a fraction of a second.
I finally was able to do a 9 footer today, and had the cool feet blur thing going on. So now I can be one of those insane DDR masters that people watch at mall machines and stuff.
Soon after that, I accidentally hurt myself pretty bad by moving so fast that my pony tail covered in sweat, slapped my eye. Owwie.
*does happy dance* Only a bit more skill to gain before I can successfully break the sound barrier with my feet, lol.
DDR is my friend. ^_^

You can buy them and set them up at home or you can play them at amusement arcades.

Oh, yes!!! I love DDR, I worship it like a Pagan god. ^__^ I have DDRMax for the Playstation 2, and there's a Max 2nd mix in the arcade of the movie theater near where I live. Up in Philly there's this arcade that has Pump it Up. Have you ever played that? It's crazy hard! There are five buttons instead of four.
What are your favorite songs to play, and how long have you been playing? I'm decent at the game, but it sounds like I'm nowhere near as good as you. I like Sana morette ne ente, AM3P, Stomp to My Beat, The Whistle Song, and True ~ Trance Sunrise Mix.
Great to see another DDR fanatic on the forum!

It sounds like my kind of game! ^_^ I also have DDR Max for the PS2. I unlocked all the songs (which took a reaaaally long time). Lets see, my favorite songs. "Look to the sky" and it's remix(unlocked), "Max300"(liking that song seems masochistic almost. Also unlocked), "Gentle Stress" (you need to fail on Oni Mode to get this one), and "Rythm and Police." I also like Drop the Bomb, which is a bit like Stomp to My Beat. I started playing in February, but I got a stress fracture in my foot because of it, so I really started to play in March. But I have some friends that are unbelievable. They can do 10 footers with ease, and use tricks while they do it. It is incredibly awsome! I let my friend play on my pad, and I really thought she was going to make it catch on fire or explode or something... But yeah! DDR rocks!!! Whoo! ^_^ Edit: I didn't think there'd be anyone on the forum that was a DDR fanatic either, or even know what DDR is. Its cool that there's somebody else here that likes it. ^_^ ((For anyone wondering when I said pony tail up there, yeah I'm a guy. I just have long hair.)) Another Edit: February wasn't the first time I played. Since I have many DDR Ultimate Masters as friends, I'd played on at least 10 other occasions before becoming a fanatic.

Are these characters on a screen like a video game or acual humans. like I said before sounds to inhuman to be real. unless all your friends can breakdance too.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH, I love DDR! I can't say I'm that great at it, though. My aunt is best friends with the owner of Castle Fun Park, an amusement park in my city in which the top floor is a arcade. There's always a group of really good Korean teens I go up against.

DDR... I've never really played it, and I doubt I'd be any good at it. It's a rare thing to see me a school dances, even... Heh, another sign of the geek.

I don't know if they can break dance... But its real life. You have a big pad you stand on. And for the really awsome players they almost move faster than humanly possible, but they aren't inhuman. *looks for a picture of a machine* Oh wow, considering how much DDR is awsome, and extremely cool, It was really hard to find any pictures. Oh well. Heres a picture of a dance pad. It looks a bit advanced because there's two extra arrows. In fact... if it had two more arrows, it would be the same game I saw in a cartoon a while back. Oh well. Oh oh, I just remembered the online web comic that I read. At one point, they have an extremely advanced form of DDR. They call it Death Death revolution. Basically it was used as a duel. In the other web comic I read, they once had Mosh Mosh Revolution. That actually looked like fun.

I've unlocked them all, too! I like Healing Vision. It's tough but it's fun. I'm excited that there's a new mix coming out for PS2 in September. There's another dancing game called Easy 2 Dancer that has three buttons and registers hand motions. There's another one with nine buttons, but I don't remember what it's called.
Mosh Mosh Revolution? A MegaTokyo fan, perhaps? Ever been to one of the MegaTokyo panels at Otakon or some such place? I went to one last year and I hope to go to another one at this year's Otakon.
My friend Dave is really amazing to watch he likes to play the hardest Pump songs on Crazy, in doubles mode. He can be such a show-off sometimes, though! I brought him to the DDR near me and he played a whole set on his knees, that is to say; hitting all the buttons with his knees. And he played this other song by spinning around in circles a lot really fast. I guess when you get that good you come up with things to make the game harder. Everytime he says "I'm not that good" I just have to roll my eyes (And get the urge to smack him)
I've only played Pump once, and it's hard to adjust. It's like switching brains. I stood too close to Dave once when he was playing either Bethovan Virus or Turkish March on Crazy/Doubles and he accidently hit me in the face. >_< My fault for standing so close... What was *really* funny was the time he was dancing so hard all of the change flew out of his pockets!
This guy is *obsessed* he got a knee injury once... and still walked three blocks and played (!)
There's this one guy at Reagal who always plays with his girlfriend. He tears it up! He once played Max 300 on heavy with the arrows on Stealth and was pulling huge combos. 0.0 In the middle he stopped though, he said "Uhh.. this is too hard for me" but it was obvious that he just didn't want to hurt his girlfriend's feelings. (She was playing against him and failing)
Once I unlocked Candy without a memory card in my PS2..
Oh! There's a dance game coming out for the Dreamcast called "Feet of Fury", it's by an American company.
There's also this program you can get to put steps to your favorite non DDR songs. With an adapter you can plug your mat into the computer and dance them. Dave made steps to 'Spicey Marmalade' and some other songs I gave him. ^__^ I need that program. I want to dance to Plastic Tree!
I'd better stop now. I could seriously rant all night, and I don't think anyone wants that...

Oooh, DDR! On Fridays when I had school, someone would usually bring it to our Anime Club. It was from Japan, so there was a warning in Japense saying that you should be considerate of any neighbors that live below you. You can actually do 9 footers? I tend not to go very far, because I feel stupid just watching the arrows fly by and screwing up all the steps. Once I was actually doing very well on a song that was hard (for me at least). The bar was all the way up. Then some other kid thought he'd help me and stepped on the arrows, and messed me up. I would've gotten an almost perfect score had it not been for that Congratulations on getting that far!

I want to dance to Plastic Tree! I'd better stop now. I could seriously rant all night, and I don't think anyone wants that... Wow! You like DDR 'and' read Megatokyo. ^_^ I've been to two of their pannels at Acen (Anime Central). I remember for some reason, Dom took off his pants. Piro was late, and thats when he walked in. It was all very funny. Piro started freaking out. Largo didn't make the panel, though. Wow, your friend Dave sounds like he's into doing tricks, too! I hope I get good enough sometime to be able to do the hardest songs and do tricks the whole time too. Max 300 on hard mode? I'm still trying to beat it on standard mode as an 8 footer, but I can only get halfway into it. Wow. O.O And I've noticed when you get into the 8 and 9 footers, you might be able to get rows and rows of perfects, but it takes alot of energy. I once just gave up in the middle of the song, even though I was getting the full combo. It was just too hard. I want that computer program! O.O You unlocked Candy with no memory card? Wow. Thats insane! You play more than me! I have to play at least 1 1/2 hours a day (Though I have gotten up to 6 hours in before because I lost track of time), and get at least 5 new records before I will be completely satisfied... though usually I get 10 new records or so. So far all the songs on easy mode are better than A's, and none of them are below A's. I have scores for all but four Standard mode songs, and I am getting new scores on hard mode every day, so about half of those songs are scored now. I really need to buy a new DDR game. >.<;; lol Must buy other dance games... must become... ultimate master of all DDR type games... except for Para Para Paradise... lol Edit: I talked about playing 9 footers, but I really really suck at them. I'm okay at 7 & 8's, though.
