Sometimes just the littlest things can make my day. If you have any little things that make you smile, please feel free to share. I will, of course, start:
Today I was getting food at the local taco place and when I walked out, there was a couple and their little boy eating at one of the tables outside. As I walked past them, I looked down and saw that there was a wallet on the ground behind the mother's chair that must have fallen out of her purse or pocket or something. Thinking that she might leave without noticing that she'd dropped it down there, I bent down to pick it up and handed it to her. She and her husband both said a quick 'Thanks' and her husband made a joke about me writing a check out to myself. I just smiled and walked on toward my car, thinking nothing more of it. Then just as I got to my car, I hear feet running after me and the little boy (who was, btw, wearing army fatigues and a pith helmet, lol) calls out, "Wait!" I turned around and he ran up and and hugged me and said "Thank you." I was so surprised that for a second I just stood there and didn't know what to do. Then I hugged him back and said, "You're welcome." He finally let go and ran off back to his parents, calling out, "Bye." Like I said, it's amazing how little things like that-- a little kid just being grateful for something as simple as me picking up a wallet from the ground and hugging me for it-- can just make my day happier.
