This sounds like a really fun time! And I feel like I'd be better at text-based roleplay than verbal. Wish I knew more about Arturian legend lol, the fact that I know almost nothing makes me hesitant to jump in. Is that going to be much of a sticking point do you think? Knowing the legends is not a requirement at all haha! Play as fast and loose with it as you like. The legends are not all consistent with one another anyway, and there are always new spins on the same premise because of how deeply it's ingrained in the western cultural mythos. You could like, write a piece in which your character fights alien robots and it would be fine.

Not knowing the legends very well was my other concern, so I'll sign up as well.

We've got enough players now that I can confidently set a deadline for signing up! Please register your interest by Sunday 9pm UTC. You do not need to sign up if you would like to be an NPC- NPCs can jump in at any point.
NPCs: NPCs will function as 'wild card' prompts- i.e., prompts anyone can respond to! NPC posts do not need to be written in the style of a regular prompt. NPC posts can be written like posts in previous forum roleplays, giving players a chance to zoom in on specific moments in their travels. Replying to an NPC post does not count as a player's 'turn' answering a randomly generated prompt. It does, however, give players who would like to post more regularly a chance for additional posts per round!
Rounds: rounds will be slow going to help us fit this into our busy lives! If it's your turn and you don't think you'll be able to respond for 3-4 days or more, let us know and your turn will be skipped for the time being. When you're ready to take a turn again, just let us know in this thread and you can generate your prompt and write a response at that time. You will continue to take your regular place in the turn order on following rounds.
Character Creation: if you have a character in mind feel free to share it in this thread (which will become a general ooc: thread once sign-ups close!) This might inspire someone else's character creation process, and also helps ensure two people don't end up playing the same canon Arthurian knight (although multiverse shenanigans and the like could be fun if you wanted to do this haha!) I will update the list of confirmed players with character names beside them for convenience.

In general I like playing characters around 12 years old. Do you think there'd be a place for someone like that, maybe a squire or something? Or is this more of a serious group of adults that wouldn't take kids along?

I still have confuzzlement on how the game is played because we need prompts to advance the plot, but the list of prompts looks like character development prompts and not things that can happen in story??

The game is more about character development and learning about these people and their King than a single narrative/adventure told traditionally. So if you're asked to think about a significant relationship, it's like the character is reflecting on that during their journey. That's why I thought NPCs could be a cool chance to zoom in on specific moments, so forumers can still do that more traditional rp they're used to.

If there's still a spot, I'm in - I'm also on the not knowing the legends train and would just wing it with an original fantasy knight of some sort.
If I understood right, it's not like a round of roleplaying, everyone gets separate turns where they're the one to post and everyone else waits. And chapter end can be decided by anyone who sees fit to end the chapter.

The turn order will probably be the sign-up order. The chapter end can be declared by any player on their turn, provided everyone has already answered at least one prompt.

Sign ups closed! Thanks for the interest everyone. I'll make a separate rp thread and get us started in a few days.

Have made the first post! I had no idea what sort of character I wanted to play but y'know, fairies are fun and they're everywhere in the dang literature. Thus we now have Ser Cael the suspiciously sparkly.

Coincidentally, one of the character ideas I toyed with during my brainstorming session was 'half-Fae, half-human knight', although I discarded it in the end.

*reads Celes's post*
*cue jaw drop*
So... I think there might be a chronic case of "great minds think alike" going around.
One of the final two character ideas I had was 'modern day South Korean man who mysteriously transmigrates into the body of an Arthurian knight' ^^"
Quick check, are there any players planning to assume the role of Sir Kay, King Arthur's foster brother?
