I love the designs for swapped Darigan and Skarl!

Lord Darigan looks like a wise Eastern sage who mentors the hero and says profound things — and then what actually comes out from his mouth is Grumpy Old King-style gibberish

The Darigan look suits Skarl surprisingly well.

This story is truly worthy of being in the April Fool's edition with how it pulls a fast one on the reader, specifically those who have read your previous TFR-themed works and were expecting something similar

Me, at the beginning: A Virtupets setting? Looks like this story has absolutely no connection to TFR.

Me, at the end: !!! ...Why didn't I see this twist coming? Why didn't I pick up on the hints that were scattered throughout the text?!

This is the first space opera AU of TFR I've read, and it's a fun and thrilling ride. The prevailing theme of robot autonomy and sentience also added a sense of relevancy you don't usually find in Neopets fanfic. Mutant Xandra was wrong about one thing, though. Hanso, I mean, HAN-50's true value lies not in his nuclear reactor core, but in his ability to consistently deliver delightfully ironic observations <3:

Taming the Beast by Serene

So it turns out Leah wasn't sent by Nate's relations at all, just incredibly incompetent

I'm relieved that the ominous feeling I got during the last chapter didn't come to fruition, and that there was a happy ending An ending I did not expect I might add, but I'm happy Nate was able to find a situation that satisfied both his family's desire for him to get a job and his passion for extreme sports. Somehow, I get the impression that the 'Beast' to be tamed didn't refer to just unrunnable rapids, but Nate's own insecurities and inner conflict as well.

P.S. Kayakers seem to have great naming sense when it comes to foreboding, awe-inspiring names for rapids. 'The Beast' is intimidating enough, but my favourite is 'The Juicer'.
