NTWF Open Mic

In an open mic night, writers get together and read their work to each other. I recently attended a low-key one where a few of us sat around a table and read our stories and poems aloud. And I was thinking, why not have that for the NTWF?

And so, let's have an open mic!

Saturday October 28 6pm-8pm Central (US) Daylight Time on Discord Voice Chat.
Translated into some other time zones

I know we could spend a week trying to pick the perfect time for everyone in all their respective timezones. But I decided to just pick a time that works well for me, so we could have a quicker turnaround. If you can't make it, don't worry, I'm pretty sure this is only the first of many.

Read your poem, short story, or an except from a longer piece. Read something new or old. Read from a Neopets fic, a roleplay post, or something entirely different. It'll be pretty chill, I think.

We'll start the reading 15 minutes after the start, to give time for greetings and set up. You're also welcome to come early if you're excited to chat. Also welcome to stay afterwards, I just find that two hours is about all I can handle when it comes to voice chatting.

I hope I'll be able to attend! Currently I don't have anything planned for that date and time, but weekends are often when impromptu plans happen, especially short-notice visits from family. So, I can't 100% confirm I'll be there, but I'll try my best, cause this sounds super fun!

I guess in the meantime I'll decide what I want to read, if anything... I assume we're also welcome to join if we just want to listen in? I might end up just listening and chatting before or after, if that's okay.

I should be good to attend! That should be both when I've finally moved in to a quieter solo place and have a long weekend, so it's perfect.

(I just need to actually write something so I can contribute, lol. Writers block has hit hard. But I guess I could always read an old work? Would have to brainstorm what.)
(Actually, this is the same time as ToT houses, so maybe people could read some of theirs.)

This is a really fun idea! Reminds me of old roleplay reads, except more broad. Will be happy to hear others' work!

In all the excitement surrounding neo, I've forgotten briefly about this Saturday's Open Mic. But it's still on.

Yes, you don't have to read something to attend, listeners are welcome as well.

We had about a half-dozen people reading and listening; it was a nice time.

I think it should happen again sometime, but not necessarily organized by me. That way, we can have these more often, and in more timezones.
