 (people are welcome to post here!) Yes hi hello. 2023 resolution is to actually get back into doing some structured art stuff. Last year I sort of incidentally started an NT comic series that focused on the exploits of one of my draiks, so I figured I'd roll with that as a concept. I don't have an official name for the series, but I've been mentally referring to it as " Draiks Are Bad at Math". Ralvy the white draik  -Works as a guard at Meridell Castle -Doesn't guard anything important but takes her job very, very (way too) seriously -A "look before you leap" sort who is prone to overreaction -Holds a grudge against Darigan (nobodies perfect) Tilbur the toy draik  -Just a little kid -Transfer student from Brightvale sent to study at Meridell Castle -Ralvy takes him under her wing to protect him from bullies -Shy, very book smart, eager to tag along and be included Sura the marble draik (belongs to my friend Luc who helps collaborate on comics)  -Ralvy's best friend (enemies to frienemies to bffs arc) -Dumb jock stereotype but in a cool guy sort of way -Spoiled little rich kid -Loves Yooyuball (specifically Team Meridell) and the battledome Comics in next post! |

Haha, these are great! Thank you for sharing! I think my favorite panel is the one where Sura is thinking, surrounded by Math symbols. There's a lot of good bits, though.

It's been like half a year, and I still regularly think back to your eyrie peacfully enjoying their audio book followed by the amazing exaggeration in posing and expressions in the last panel. SUCH GOOD ENERGY! There's so much MOVEMENT! I look forwards to seeing your future publications (I'm not going to peak at your future publication spoilers. I want to be surprised! (Unless you're looking for specific feedback  ) |

June Scarlet Kengplant Thank you both so much! I'm glad they're worth a chuckle or two  Carolyn 's dedication to advertising the Meridell/Darigan issue is what made me design Ralvy and develop a character for her. Meanwhile poor Delero the eyrie never recovered: JK he's fine  Finished the first part of "How to Speedrun Friends" and added it to the 2nd post. I'll probably have to reevaluate when I submit them given the current rule changes. Might be able to get a chain going on Grey Day since the first one is maybe kinda sad? Bleh, we'll see.

Dropping off some character concepts. I don't think I really NEED anymore draiks. But then again... what if more characters to have to keep up with? May or may not use them in the future, but at least one has a solid enough idea behind them that I might could think up a few silly scenarios.  Ryse, mara draik. Ralvy's cousin who lives on Mystery Island. Very tall, very sporty. They looove volleyball. Usually pretty chill but has a big competitive streak (especially with Ralvy who is obsessed with winning even a single volleyball match against them).  Unnamed valentine draik. Admittedly I just want a valentine draik. Lives in Faerieland. Smarmy and impish, likes to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. A meddler. Unsure if he would regularly interact with Ralvy or be his own thing. If he did, would absolutely drive her up a wall. |

Bat comic added. I guess this one is more of an in joke, so the context is: for some 2p BD leagues your pet needs to have specific stats. I'd just transferred this pet over from a side, so it was my active, and got this RE after like one battle. I was maaaaaaaaad but fortunately KQ saved me. |

One more before I regroup a bit and figure out what thread I want to follow next. Probably will try to do one for the AC and use this as a sort of segue into whatever that is. We'll see. Updated part 2 to (hopefully) make it relevant enough to be accepted into the Its Bananas/April Fools NT. Guess I'm gonna start putting a link to a petpage with all of the comics listed. I wonder how many people follow through to look for things like that. |

There are two random days between the next NT and Fyora day. I'm going to be pretty angry if these final two parts of the speedrun comics don't make it in by then, given that'll be another couple of months before they even have a chance at being published (I have other finished comics planned for those themed days).
The backlog has STILL not been cleared. If there's something wrong with the comic, I'd surely hope they would just send me an outright rejection since those do seem to be going out. Is it an issue with the formatting? The content? How I'm crediting the collab? Boy wouldn't I like to know! If they're just not getting in because they aren't themed "enough" (annoyed with myself for editing to try for April Fools, what even is "enough"??) fine, so be it, but having them cleared so I don't have to play this silly game with renaming would be great.
I know having things float around in the aether isn't anything new for the NT, but why bother posting a rules update just to immediately disregard it and change nothing about the process other than, apparently, not guaranteeing anything for a comic series? And not answering any editorials about it when this is the only avenue we've been given to get clarification?
I'm in a bad mood about this and its starting to mess with my confidence. |
