hi, I am thinking of making a nt series about some of the characters in the thieves' guild. Unfortunately, I haven't been around that long and don't really know what all that was, so I need someone to help me find out what happpened there. I assume it was a plot or something, but I haven't been able to find it so far. could someone post the link?

The Thieves Guild has made appearances or been referenced in a few different events, so a good starting point would probably be Jellyneo's summary page about them.
They have links to the Neopedia and Obelisk War pages regarding the Thieves' Guild, plus pages for each individual character relevant to the guild. Here's a link as well to the preserved comic for Hannah and the Ice Caves, the plot that introduced current leader, Kanrik, plus a few other members.
If you'd be interested in including him as well, Hanso is a former member of the guild and leading character of the Faeries' Ruin plot (Jellyneo currently does not have a preserved version of the comics, so this is a link to a tumblr user who screencapped the plot's comics). That plot isn't about the guild directly, but you get to know Hanso, who is a pretty popular character in general.

What did you have in mind for them? You might still be able to go a couple of ways, depending. For one, it's alright in the NT to break canon, and not everything you write needs to adhere to site lore or be 100% in character. People will interpret characters their own way all the time, especially as a number of site characters are sort of blank slates open for molding. For me and my comics, the plot line that Taelia and Fyora have a lifelong feud is completely my own creation.
If not that, there may be other characters that could fit what you had in mind, if you're looking for suggestions!

well, I had pictured this scene where Galem realizes that Masila is tricking him and confronts her about it, and a few others as well, but that won't work as Galem is not the leader anymore.

You could set this piece in the past, when Galem was the leader.

hmmm....but it would include his overthrowing, and I don't know how he was REALLY overthrown... Hello lovely new member! To know how he was really overthrown, I super super recommend reading the Hannah and the Ice Caves plot comic that Twillie linked you earlier!
Sorry for any redundancy but I shall now ramble about all of the things:
A large part of Neopian lore and characters comes from events known as "plots", which used to occur over a few weeks or months for the larger ones, featuring puzzles and battles for the playerbase to resolve as a whole, while a central story was revealed little by little with flash-based comics released a few pages at a time. Those big plots stopped happening when the site changed ownership, but they are still a memorable treasure trove of Neopian history.
Many of us started our writings by glomming onto our favourite casts of characters from those plots. Our legendary Kat, for example, specialises in stories on the character cast of the old game Neoquest! My favourite be the Faeries' Ruin plot from ... 2010 *joints suddenly crack*, but I'm also fond of characters from Curse of Maraqua, the Lost Desert Plot, and Tale of Woe, even though I wasn't involved in these plots myself. Not to mention the ancient Darkest Faerie Playstation game of old!
And if I know those characters long past the original events, it's all thanks to Jellyneo - all hail, praise be - and their history pages and Book of Ages where you can still read about those characters and search for them based on what event they appeared in.
More inspiration can be found in the Neopedia, or even in descriptions of book items that people sometimes turn into full stories! The site has so many undeveloped character seeds that you can grab and run away with.
I'm glad you're interested in those rascally rogues from the Thieves Guild as they are lots of fun, and hype to discover what you come up with!!!! =D
