Topic 9 (11/13) Places in your town/city 1. Main Street -- Lots of cute little shops on a cobblestone street, and every Christmas they do a huge event where they have all sorts of characters walking around that you can interact with... Santas from different countries, characters from "A Christmas Carol," carolers from various eras, etc. 2. My house! 3. The high school and elementary school I attended growing up. I can still see them from my back yard and I love that connection that I still feel to the many amazing teachers I had. I don't know if the connection would be that strong if I didn't see the buildings every day. (Okay. Bonus. Because I just thought of it, but didn't want to actually change any of my other answers: The rec center by my house. I've started swimming on Satudays, and I LOVE it. Indoor pool with lap lanes, a water slide, and a hot tub.

1. The botanic garden. A lovely serene place for walking that has helped me through some stressful periods!
2. The pet sanctuary out south.
3. The ocean is Right There, making for more serene views and nice walking spots.

Articles of Clothing1. Jackets. Don't know what I'd do without them. 2. Affirming outfits. 3. And shirts that look okay but are too eh to wear anywhere special so I can do dirty work without guilt about ruining clothes. Teachers, Coaches, etc1. Both of my physics advisors, for different reasons. They were very helpful to me and I got a lot from them. And I wish I was a better student for them. 2. The physics teacher who taught me through undergrad and grad school. 3. Middle school was bad but my middle school science teachers were my go-to. One was really supportive all around. The other one took some time due to her strictness, but she was overall supportive and gave me opportunities that I still carry with me. 4. A high school science teacher that I didn't personally have a class with, but spent so much time with me helping me prepare science competitions, and eventually I just hung out in her classroom after school. It was nice and she was nice. (Oh gosh I could go on. No way are these ranked and I'm sure I've missed people, just good ones are great.)
Helpers/Heroes1. Honestly, just the friends who listen to me, affirm me, and stick by me. I'm not great at expressing gratitude, but it really means a lot to me. Thank you.

So for animals, I meant to say that you could get specific. I only went broad because I don't have any pets. So if anyone wants to edit or post again (or for the first time) for animals, fell free!
Topic 11 (11/23) 3 Traditions You're Grateful For
1. The Thanksgiving service at my church. Yes, we have a service actually on Thanksgiving morning. Almost none of it is planned ahead. Instead, it's an hour of spontaneous personal testimony and hymns by request. It is my favorite service of the entire year, even above Christmas Eve and Easter. Not quite the same since the long-time "MC" of the service passed on to his eternal home, but still my favorite service. 2. Christmas Eve candlelight service. It's taken a few different forms over the years, but still a favorite. 3. Taking off work for my birthday.
