I was in a bad mood when I went for my lunch walk because work was boring and the walk was uninspired. I wonder if my bad mood was showing on my face, because a dude walking in the opposite direction wished me a good day. No "you should smile more" or anything, just "have a good day".
I said "you too" and headed off. But it was nice. And you know what? Did make my day a bit better.

I hit my two year work anniversary at the start of this week, and I walked into my office Monday morning to see my boss left me some flowers and muffins ;w; She always gives me little gifts for holidays and the like, but it's always a nice surprise when it happens haha. She and another coworker of mine also took me out to lunch on Thursday to celebrate~

I DM a magic school dnd campaign every other Thursday evening. This week, I had to first close the store. One of my players met me at the end of my shift and bought me a muffin, and she is just the best! ;-;

I signed up to be a pen pal for people currently stuck in the prison system! I'm very nervous about it but I know it'll be helpful to people. The pen pal options are all people who signed up to exchange letters, so they want to share letters with people (making it miles different from the time I was a reading support buddy to someone who really didn't want to read. xD)

A week ago was my fifth anniversary of working at my nerd store. One of my managers had planned a one-shot D&D adventure for the occasion. Except it turned out only half the staff could make it. No matter- we haven't had everyone together in one place in a long time anyway!
The day arrived. I wasn't too hyped about going, as I'd been working all day and had a bit of a headache. I remember leaning on River and psyching myself up to leave. Lovely manager and first-time DM picked me up, we exchanged small talk, and went over to our colleague's house to play the game.
Except I HAD BEEN FOOLED. (in the best way)
I stepped inside and everyone was there. They'd made food, there were helium balloons (one with a 5 and one in the shape of a star), and it turned out to be a super nice surprise party. There were cupcakes with little fondant guinea pigs on them, which the manager had ordered especially for me. My cupcake piggy had a little party hat on.
Now I tell you, nobody has done something like this for me in years. Probably not since I was a kid? And it's not something you expect as a adult, even for birthdays. Two years ago, my mum ordered me a special birthday cake with my name on it and I nearly cried I was so touched. In this tiny living room of my friend's flat, with my back to the staircase, and all these people around who had worked so hard to do this big thing for me, I felt so incredibly loved. It was amazing, and so kind. I never want to forget that evening!
(I thought the one-shot was a decoy to get me there. Turns out, that also happened. There were guinea pigs in that too.)

The residents at where I work have a gardening club, and I’m the one that helps collect donations for them and get them deposited into the bank. Today as a thanks, one of the main volunteers stopped by and gave me some of the vegetables they’ve grown from the garden ;o;
