(title inspired by something Ginz ❤ said yesterday- that humans should be kind to other humans!) I thought it would be nice to make a thread where we mention kind things we have done for other people, or that other people have done for us! To share warm fuzzies and give others ideas. You know- the epitome of Good Vibes! Especially in these stressful times, it's important to remember that there's a lot of good in people, and that we can also be a part of that goodness. ** I'm currently working on some care packages for the homeless folks I see on my way to work. I used this post here for inspiration!

Yesterday was D&D night. Because there are ten of us, our friend who owns her own place and has a massive table usually hosts.
It was another friend's birthday. She's had a couple rough years, with multiple health scares and long periods of time where she can't work.
When we arrived at the house a half hour before her, our host had put up balloons and a big 'happy birthday!' sign. She'd also made a cake and set out a bunch of snacks. Another friend baked a pumpkin spice loaf thing, and made the birthday lady her favorite dinner. He also brought along a really tasty tea and shared it with us all.
Was a very kind, thoughtful gesture by those two.

I've got a few stories from a trip to Chicago I took at the end of May!
First is a small one on the train ride up there. Near the end of the trip, I hear one of the passengers yell, "Deer!" as they point out the window to what I can imagine was a deer or two in the nearby field. She continues to excitedly point them out as other passengers join her in looking, all happy to see these deer. I just always like when someone is excited enough to share a small joy like that with strangers, especially when the strangers join with equal interest.
There was another little moment I saw in the city while walking to the event I came there for. I went through some parks to get there and passed plenty of people on the way, and I remember a father and his young daughter, maybe two years old, sitting on the curb of the sidewalk. The father, a big guy with tattoos, was holding out a plushie shark and playing with his daughter, who was giggling and had the biggest smile on her face. It was just a very sweet and sincere moment, and I'm always soft for dads who visibly love and care for their children, especially in a case like this where his appearance may have him stereotyped as a tough guy who doesn't show emotions.
And then for a story that actually involved myself, after the event ended, I tried to get a ride via Uber. Since this was a well-attended concert, there was a whole crowd alongside me trying to get rides, and the venue herded us all to a dedicated area where we'd wait to get picked up. However, that was about where their plan ended, as once we got to the area- the entrance of a parking garage tunnel- the police officers corralling us just kept trying squeeze everyone into one small spot on the tunnel while cars drove past us, but none actually picked people up. I don't think even they knew what was going on, and just kept barking useless orders as a result. I was not on board for standing in an overcrowded garage all night, and after the fifth Uber driver cancelled on me, I asked a couple of the other concert attendees for advice. They said I might have better luck getting a ride at a nearby landmark, so I decided I'd walk there and give it a try.
It was about 11 at night by this point, and I took this trip all alone, so I couldn't help but be extra vigilant while I walked in the dark. Eventually I make it to my destination without issue, but when I try to get a ride again, I have at minimum a thirty minute wait. My options at this point are to wait that long all alone in the dark in a deserted area, or to venture back to the parking garage where I won't be able to get a ride, but I guess there'd at least be people. None of my options felt viable, so I couldn't help but sit on the curb and just kinda lament to myself how grim my situation felt.
That's when a passing couple took notice of me, and the man came over and asked if I was alright. I told him that I was trying to get back to my hostel but had no real way of getting there, and they asked me which way I was going. I told them the general streets it'd take to get to my place, and they said there were heading in the same direction part of the way, and that I could walk with them if I wanted. I of course immediately took up their offer, and for about half the walk back to my hostel I had them as company. This was through all the winding paths and tunnels of the park the stadium was in, so it would've been the scariest area had I walked alone. Once we parted ways, the woman offered me the pepper spray she carries with her, and for the last ten minutes of my walk, I kept that gripped in one hand xD Thankfully once I was out of the park, I basically just had to follow one street to get to my hostel, and it was well populated so I could blend in with the crowd better. I was able to get back to where I was staying without any further issue, aside from some sore feet since I forgot to bring my walking shoes with me lol.
But yes, thank you random couple that took pity on me! I don't know what I would have done without you xD

I'm glad they looked out for you like that! And thankful you made it home safe. <3
Last night, one of my friends got overwhelmed and had to step out during our game night. His girlfriend suggested we make him a coffee, and our host's son did that and aforementioned girlfriend passed it off as the son's idea in the first place. It was just very sweet!!! Once he'd recovered he was able to come back to a nice hot drink.

I've been a bit sad the past few days, because it's been confirmed our landlord won't let us have any pets. This was after River had vetoed me getting specifically guinea pigs, which are the pets I wanted most of all. (I am going to an animal rescue tomorrow with my mum, and hoping to see the cute squeaky guinea pig who was there last time.)
Anyway: when I came home from work today, there was a block of chocolate on the table with a plush racoon sitting on top of it. River said she looked for a guinea pig plush, but the racoon was the closest thing they had, and she wanted to cheer me up because I was upset at not being allowed furry friends. It was just very sweet!

Two things:
A new coffee place has opened up near us, which is pretty nice, but they also allow you to buy a coffee for people. Basically, you pay for a coffee, take a card and write a message on it, and stick it on the board. Me and my mum saw this and immediately had the same idea: "Glory to Ukraine. We will win." I hope it makes someone happy.
Another thing is one of the cafe people at my work has taken to calling my hair "mermaid hair" and it always makes me feel just a little chuffed to hear it.

The manager was one of my D&D friends, and half the time they would just put the card back anyway so more than one person got a paid-for drink for the cost of just one purchase!

The past week at work has been intense. Both our managers are off with The Plague, so I (the Baby Manager) am on my seventh day of work.
Anyway, the other three also had to step up, so I bought them all fancy shower gels to say thanks! I got them half price, but I hope it helps them feel appreciated anyway.

I was so tired and drained yesterday. I was at work so I had to Keep Going, but I hadn't packed enough lunch, and I have a dollar in my bank account until I get paid so couldn't buy myself something sugary to perk myself up.
I got home upset and overwhelmed, just kinda flopped on the couch. But River bought me a pizza so that I could have some for dinner and then the rest for lunch at work today, and that was really nice.

There's a coworker of mine who's been friendly to me since I helped give her a ride a while back, and today she stopped by my office to give me a cupcake because it was her birthday ;o; I just find it sweet when she does little things like that and that she's comfortable enough to visit now and then, as I think she usually keeps to herself during work.

It's a little thing, but when the receptionist at work has papers to give to me, she always includes a little note with my name and smiley face next to it, which I always think is a cute touch to add x3
I also always appreciate the little gifts my boss gives me sometimes for holidays or special occasions. I hit my one year anniversary at work recently, and in my office I still have the sun shaped balloon she got me for that haha.

I'm having trouble with a certain tool we use at work, and I asked for help on my company's internal social media. Several people stepped up, and I have a meeting tomorrow to get a walkthrough and answers to my questions.
I work with some very nice humans.

It's Matariki (Māori new year) this Friday. I have to work all day, which sucks.
At Matariki you share a meal with loved ones. Me and the others who are working have made a plan to clear the little table out back and bring in some kai to share. I'm bringing a vacuum flask of homemade potato and leek soup for main meal break, and some comforting hot chocolate we can share while working. I kind of want to bring something else too, maybe I can just grab a salad from the supermarket.
Being as kind as we can to each other when stuck at work on a Special Day. Should be nice.

I hadn't had lunch and was heading home to a movie marathon, so I stopped to buy a pie at the corner store on the way. The labels had been swapped and I ended up with a mince pie instead of a curry vegetable one. I only realised when I bit into it. The staff were very nice when I went back, and let me grab one of the vegetable ones for free.

My brother bought me a drawing tablet. ;u; What did I ever do to deserve such a supportive and amazing sibling?
