Jumpstart/Netdragon seems to be like a mischievous kid or unruly pet: If they're quiet for any length of time, that usually means they're getting into trouble.
Somebody high up in the chain of command must really be into cryptocurrency and NFTs, because I just can't imagine any other reason why they'd be pushing this hard for them after Cryptoquest failed so miserably.

Another update, this time good news, via Jellyneo. Basically, to summarize things, the Neopets Metaverse missed its launch date, while the partnership with Quidd is on hold.

Oh, Metaverse is delayed? Well, let's be kind, Metaverse team, you can take as long as you need. Like, how about instead of a roadmap you have all that stuff at launch, that way you can shut up those critics you oh so hate. I mean, if you have so much hope for the Metaverse that shouldn't be a problem at all. So, please, take your time, show us how much faith you have in this venture. As for Quidd, I have a song for you: ~Let it go! Let it go!~... No, seriously, let it go. And just go. I would say find greener pastures but you're killing them off with your block chains.

Wow. That's recent enough that I almost wonder if it's at least partially inspired by the Neopets debacle. I haven't heard any huge objections to other NFT projects, but perhaps there has been, so it really is just general.

yeah, Artists freaking HATE NFTs, because anyone can make a NFT of someone's art, and be like LOL I OWN IT NOW.
which is not how it works.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier: A lot of NFTs are "minted" using stolen artwork.
They bad.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier: A lot of NFTs are "minted" using stolen artwork. They bad. Or, they do commission an art piece (or pieces), likely paying the artist a low amount, just to claim it's there's, and then they warp & change the image in all sorts of ways to sell each as a NFT to make a ton more money. Don't know which is worst, honestly. Stealing of course gets the artist no money, but the latter feels like purposely spite against them.

Welp. From JN: Geez, could they make this sound anymore like a get rich quick scheme? Overcharge the first batch of buy-ins to make as much money as possible, but then when they realize they can't do anything with the tokens the Metaverse is like "lulz, sorry no refunds, gtg". Of course, the problem with doing this is that, while others doing such similar schemes (aka usually a few people group) usually can just vanish in the void after they think they reached their peak, well, I don't think JS & Netdragon is small enough to do that. Meanwhile, their NFT partners likely can pull the vanishing act (and with the money too) leaving JS holding the bag and a direction angry customers have to aim their ire. Congrats JS, you just played yourself, and Fyora help us this doesn't impact the Neopets site.

...
So, they're actually going through with this, which is disheartening to hear.
As for the pricing, is using (stolen) artwork really worth that much? Again, it brings up my point I made previously: by doing this, JSN is essentially breaking their own rule on the spirit of fairness.
Am I going to feel sorry if an actual NFT collectors just misses out on one at the price they wanted because of a bot? No, not really.
