I'm also glad to see a new NT :3 The NT's schedule is something they really should address, as this current system of cancelling issues last minute on random weeks is not encouraging for old and new creators alike. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a matter of Aesop having to juggle too many things at once and not having time each week for the NT, but it'd be alright to adjust to that. Make officials updates biweekly or something (or get Aesop someone to help), just so users still know when to submit and when to expect their entries' publication. This Editorial question has me confused: This is not at all consistent with the content they've been allowing recently, and this goes for more than just the NT. Literally right now in the Beauty Contest, one user is advertising double entries featuring both halves of a romantic couple being affectionate to each other (which I'm not complaining about btw, they're both adorable drawings, I just bring this up as an example of romantic user content lol). Explicitly romantic stories have also been published in recent Times before. I don't agree with the choice of strictly forbidding any and all romantic themes ever, but I still wish they'd at least better define what romance isn't allowed or be more consistent in the messages they send to the user base. The creative contest rules are already difficult to find and interpret anyway, we don't need more muddying of the waters lol.

1. While I understand that Aesop's schedule is likely packed, I agree that they should just either change the schedule, or find someone to help him get the NT up and running. The NT has already been downsized compared to how it was before when a single person was placed in charge of only the NT; it doesn't really help that we get last-minute cancellations on top of that.
I look forward to the NT every Saturday morning my time, and it may be selfish of me, but I get pretty disappointed when I find out that it'll be taking a break.
2. It's also unfair for those of us who are more aware of and abide by the NT rules. I had to figure out the best way to imply that Reuben and Andrea are married without actually saying the r-word or describing them as a couple or laser-focusing only on their relationship, only to find out that more explicitly romantic content has flown under the radar. As an ancient relic I abide by the rules as I knew them to be when I was last active, but I think it's about time we start relaxing some of them considering that Neopets' current audience now consists mainly of college students, working adults, and adults with families.
Besides, with all the dark and scary content Neopets also has, you'd think the site overall merits a PG-13 rating at least.

This. As one who also vividly remembers what is and isn't accepted on site, especially for the NT and almost all Contests, I've seen my fair share of content that just flew under the radar that threw me off many Times submissions. And not just recently, but in the past as well, though it was much more rare back then.
Just like Neopets was in the old days!
I totally agree. Especially for the earlier days of Neopets, which could get super dark at times. Has anyone looked up some of the older Neopedia entries ( A Halloween Tale and The Deserted Fairgrounds) or the Gallery of Villains page recently? They weren't kidding when they originally intended the site for bored college students. Come to think of it, anyone remember Neo Adventures? The Choose Your Own Adventure Maker that retired not too long ago? That as far as I know was pretty much a massive anachronism stew as there weren't very many rules on what content was allowed or not outside of the Neo Adventure Contest itself, so players could pretty much add whatever; you got entries involving the existence of male Faeries, neopets driving cars, pets carrying guns, adventures set in the Star Wars universe and other IP's/Franchises, made-up pet colors, etc.

It was rarer back then because the editor could laser focus on the NT. It just feels like...so, I didn't have to stick to the rules and tiptoe around them now? The talk of other contests reminded me that I'm also currently discouraged with the Poetry Gallery as well. I've gotten my poems, which are always within the limit, rejected a few times lately and when I see the gallery, there are poems that are less than 20 lines long, and I feel like...I spend several minutes writing a poem that's 28-30+ lines long only to have it rejected for much shorter poems. Either change the rules so shorter poems are accepted, or enforce these rules. IDK, I guess I'm just an old crusty relic who's stuck in the past. I do remember the Neo Adventures. Yeah, you had so much more leeway in them and I myself went wild with them but by the time they discontinued the spotlight I had wanted to overhaul mine so it would be spotlight-worthy. Alas.

(Ditto on things I wish would be addressed ='D When it comes to romance, I'm pleased with what's been the rule for most of the site's history, with no romance-focused plots, already-established couples - like parents - being shown in stories all right, and showing 'ships from site plots as long as it doesn't get overtly romantic... but the rule has not been applied consistently and it's no longer fair if some explicitly romantic stories do get in.) Merry in Meridell and the Citadel Scene by CarolynThis is such cool worldbuilding I love it! Like, we may not have Neopia in adventure mode, but I like reading descriptions of places that are detailed enough for me to imagine I'm there. I had never seen such a quaint take on the Citadel before. Nice use of sunsets and lighting as the aesthetic appeal of the citadel. Love that there's an art school, hope they have collabs with Brightvale University. Hide and Seek by keoshky LOOK AT THIS IT IS VERY VERY ADORABLE AND SUPER RELEVANT TO OUR INTERESTS!!!!! Random Oddness: My Petpet is now my Brother by mistyqee WOW I can't believe I'd never seen a take on the Krawk petpet becoming a Neopet before, this situation is full of potential for awkwardness! I really hope this comic has a sequel - *checks* IT DOES THERE'S MORE THIS IS GREAT thanks so much Mistyqee I needed this in my life~ I bet I could use those! by deadpoolio809 This gave me a good laugh, creative use of an item, and very fun visual gag with a baby Pteri! I just. Keep imagining it running through various places and it's funny every time.
