Couple of things on boosters.
CVS will not let you schedule a booster online unless the day is actually past six months since your second dose of Pfizer. CVS does ask if you want to schedule a flu vaccine with your booster at the same time.
Walgreens lets you schedule a booster without any date enforcement but notes that you really should wait at least six months after your second Pfizer dose.
HyVee (grocery store with pharmacy in the Midwest) doesn’t have any checks in place other than only offering boosters to Pfizer recipients.
None of them ask for medical or work records to prove you are in the eligible groups.
I will just wait for the six month mark and schedule through CVS so i can get a flu shot too.
Also, if you are immunocompromised, you do not need to wait six months because you are taking a third dose, not a booster dose. CVS will ask you to call them to schedule in this case. Others I’ve tried will let you schedule online.

Oh hey. I did a Google and six months after my second shot is October 4th. Ahhh I am the tempted, but no no, I will let people who really need it go first. I'll get mine in November a few weeks before Thanksgiving and the like.

I scheduled my booster shot for Friday evening at a local CVS. I will also get a flu shot at the same time. I will post my general feeling on Saturday and the experience getting two vaccines at the same time which doctors have said is fine to do if you find that more convenient. Also an interesting pattern in Covid-19 waves is now being studied. www.yahoo.com/news/trying-sense-covids-mysterious-2-121821028.htmlWe don’t know exactly why Covid-19 seems to have two month long waves followed by two months of relative calm. Some have said it’s human behavior (people being more lax about health measures as cases ease which then eventually causes another wave). Other complicating factors are variants and perhaps some groups of people are more susceptible to one variant vs another. We still don’t know exactly what but every time you identify a pattern in something, it’s actually a good thing because we can then better predict the next wave. I just hope eventually we can break out of this cycle but as of now, it is a cycle.

Guess who has a fever and is very, very not happy about it? I was hoping not to have to get Covid tested again, but here we are. I swear, if I got Covid again, I will be most displeased. Edit: the nurse did the test and dropped my swab. I had to do it twice in five minutes, BLAH.

72 hour update:
All side effects are gone except the injection site is a little sore still.
36 hour update:
I had a fever, chills, a headache, muscle aches, and dizziness yesterday. The headache and fever still persist after 36 hours but are milder than yesterday. For me, this is worse than the second dose. Significantly worse. But I think I’ll be fine later today.
12 hour update:
- My left shoulder is pretty painful right now. That’s where the Covid shot went. My right shoulder is barely registering on the pain scale but if I move it a certain way, it hurts a bit. - I have a moderate headache. - I had a fever last night, but it broke this morning.
—
I have received my booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine along with a flu vaccination from Sanofi.
I asked for the Pfizer to be given in my non-dominant arm and the Flu shot in the dominant arm.
So far my feeling is:
- Mild muscle aches - Slight headache - Soreness at both injection sites but the flu shot arm is actually more sore right now
It’s not any worse than after my second dose so far.

FYI… J&J vaccine recipients. The FDA advisory panel has recommended that ALL recipients of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine get a second dose after two months. apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-science-business-health-coronavirus-vaccine-53aaa9bfe4d05656aa52e251ba2b5401An important quote from the article: “I think this frankly was always a two-dose vaccine,” said FDA adviser Dr. Paul Offit of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “It would be hard to recommend this as a single-dose vaccine at this point.” I guess J&J wanted to position itself as more convenient and easier to get people vaccinated. But they may have been too ambitious. Anyways, for anyone who got the J&J vaccine, you may want to return for a second dose soon. Also Moderna booster guidance will be the same as Pfizer except the booster will be a half dose.

FYI: OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) in the US has issued the vaccine rules now. www.npr.org/2021/11/04/1048939858/osha-biden-vaccine-mandate-employers-100-workersKey points in the rule: 1. You have until January 4th to comply with either the vaccine mandate or the testing once a week if you are unvaccinated. Companies are tasked with ensuring this. 2. Employers must provide paid time off to get vaccinated. 3. Employers do not have to pay for testing which means unless it’s negotiated in a collective bargaining agreement, employees or their insurers will have to pay. 4. Unvaccinated workers must wear masks. 5. Health workers do not have an option for testing, they generally must take the vaccine, barring a medical or religious exemption. This is enforced for facilities that take patients through Medicare or Medicaid. 6. Rules apply to employers with 100 or more employees. Enforcement may be tricky, but getting on OSHA’s wall of shame is really bad for business. Most large companies do not want to go there because it could make it difficult to work with other businesses.

I hope the above is enough. Far too often I'm seeing small businesses with folks who just stopped caring and aren't wearing masks. They just "want to get back to normal" by me, and I'm in NJ. It's more than frustrating to feel like one of the few who still care enough to wear them indoors, who is cautious of crowds, etc...

Several states including mine have allowed adults to take a vaccine booster (For Pfizer and Moderna) ahead of the decisions by the FDA and CDC. Here are the states: Arkansas California Colorado Kansas Maine Minnesota New Jersey New Mexico New York Rhode Island Vermont West Virginia (Source: abcnews.go.com/Health/states-opened-covid-19-vaccine-boosters/story?id=81203266; please double check with your state’s health department/local news) It’s likely with this many states, the FDA and CDC will likely approve it for all adults. You should take the booster after six months. J&J recipients should also take a booster but that was already open to everyone that received J&J earlier. With cases moving in the wrong direction as the weather gets cold in the US, it seems like we don’t have much of a choice here now. Long Covid and other risks are just too high with Covid-19. The non-fatal cases can be quite awful for quality of life afterwards. That said, we do now have anti-viral pills from Merck and Pfizer that are designed to treat and prevent Covid-19 and Pfizer has opened up the formula for others to use. apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-technology-business-pfizer-inc-health-d4b4d2f5d2e001cc3573526e680c07f8We have the tools we need it seems. The onus is on us humans working together and making smart, science-based decisions.

Six months away from my second dose.
Can't get a booster though, being told to wait to be invited. But I'm unlikely to be invited because I got my vaccine early by mistake.
Yaaay.

So I was originally scheduled to get my booster shot in two weeks. But my local hospital called earlier today and said they had an opening, so I got it today instead. Ordinarily, I'd be feeling pretty happy about that right about now. Instead, I had just remembered that I had taken an Aleve pill for period cramps about four hours before getting the shot (And before I got the call from the hospital) and that the CDC apparently recommends not doing that because it could lessen your immune response to the vaccine, and now I'm freaking out that I accidentally ruined things for myself. How fun.

Everyone, this is exhibit A of what happens when you don’t help vaccinate countries that don’t have the same level of resources. Not much is known about this new variant’s transmissibility but we do now know it is in Europe (Belgium to be specific). As travel bans are reactive and too late, it’s likely this will spread across the world. But again: we do not know much about this yet so it may not be a huge problem www.bbc.com/news/health-59418127

As travel bans are reactive and too late, it’s likely this will spread across the world. www.bbc.com/news/health-59418127It is worth stressing that we do not know anything about this variant yet, so I would encourage level-headedness and to not panic. There has been a lot of scary media articles written about it, and will likely be written, but the final conclusion is always the same: "We do not know enough". So I would reserve panic until there is more information. EDIT: More information about the Belgian case you mentioned, from The Guardian. She was unvaccinated and only has mild symptoms. She came from Egypt. The WHO is cautioning against hasty travel bans and is encouraging reasoned, scientific approach. We do not know how deadly this virus is or how it impacts hospitalisation. So I strongly urge caution when it comes to dealing with the fearmongering on the news.

homsareggplant and I are getting our boosters today. Now we can be 5G! /s But in all seriousness, it'll be a relief. I want to feel safer being out again and even though I live in a relatively Covid-conscious area, there are still jerks about.
