In 2006 and 2007, the lineup for the Jelly World Practice Team was different. Instead of using all-Chias, the team had it's own unnamed members. They were blue in color and wore yellow and pink clothes. I've been searching on and off in hopes of getting some info on them, but I'm not having the best of luck myself.
According to both Jellyneo and Pink Poogle Toy's own wiki, Neodex, the team was as follows:
Jelly Kougra - Goalie and Captain
Jelly Kau - Left Forward
Jelly Blumaroo - Right Defense
Jelly Usul - Right Forward
Jelly Techo - Left Defense
Jellyneo's book of ages page (https://bookofages.jellyneo.net/characters/2302/) had two images: One of the Kougra in decent quality, and a screenshot of the Kau. I don't know where these are sourced from, since I never asked. That knocks down two people from the search, the Kougra and the Kau. Now we have to look for the Blumaroo, Usul, and Techo.
I checked the page history of NeoDex's page on Jelly World, and it did link a petpage (http://www.neopets.com/~Man_eater_Pikachu) apparently supposedly having the images of the teammates. Unfortunately, it was just the default Kougra petpage, and the user, pokemonlunatic, had their account deactivated.
Out of curiosity, I emailed Jellyneo about this. It took around 3 or 4 weeks for a response, but it reads:
"Hey there, ProblematicPeriwinklePlum! This is a reply to a message you sent us.
Hi, sadly there are not. TNT overwrote the flash files for the third Cup, so those images no longer exist on the public site. TNT likely still have the images for them on their internal servers, but they don't exist anywhere we have access to.
Thank you very much!
The JN Staff"
This pretty much confirmed that the original images were lost. I shot an email back saying I'd go back to searching for images of the teammates, with the reply email being rather brief saying that they'd like the images of the missing teammates if I do come across them. Now was for the search effort once again.
Videos of the Altador Cup I and II are scarce. YouTube was still in it's baby years and video sharing wasn't all that popular. Unless a user was attempting to get a high score, most of the time they had no incentive to record a Yooyuball game, especially one with the Practice Team. Regardless a few videos do indeed exist, and I was able to find the Blumaroo in one of them! That leaves us with the Usul and Techo to find. I emailed Jellyneo again, sending the Blumaroo photo and asking about the sources of the images of the Kougra and Kau images.
After a bit of waiting, a response came quicker than anticipated. The Blumaroo image was added to the Practice Team page with credit of me finding it. (Personally I'm quite flattered) and the origins of the images. The Kougra was seemingly taken from an old Yooyuball game file and the Kau's source can't be remembered. I took another check at the page history of Jelly World at NeoDex and I also saw that the very first confirmed listings of the players on the Jelly World Practice Team were a Kougra and Kau. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but I digress.
Anyways, Jellyneo was also able to find out a current active account for pokemonlunatic on the Neopian Times Writers Forum (under the username Dimi). I made an account and sent Dimi a private message. The response I got was fairly quick, but it lead to another dead end. Dimi had had their account frozen due to it being hacked and the fact that they moved to a different country, leaving behind the laptop that may have still had the original images saved.
It was at this point I had already exhausted YouTube's video coverage for the first and second Altador Cups. Of all the videos I saw that featured the Jelly World Practice Team, all of them besides the Blumaroo and the player winning goals with the Kougra in sight. Otherwise, nothing. This is where things take a stop for the time being.
And thus the search ends here for now. I hope to put this info to rest, and the Techo and Usul are found someday. I'll keep this updated, but feel free to ask anything about this search, and if you have any possible leads.
Special thanks to Dave and Herdy at Jellyneo as well as Dimi for their time and patience for my search for these images.
I'm posting this here on TNWT in hopes that this might be noticed by someone out there who might have something. Otherwise, any assistance in the search would be helpful! This is definitely a case of lost media.
