Thanks so much for the response to our game's interest post here. Lizica and I am pleased to announce that game sign ups are now open for our debut game, April Showers, and they will remain up until the end of the week. GelquieI would be entirely interested in joining a Shakespeare Reading group! I actually took Shakespeare my final college semester. Of the five plays we read, King Lear and A Midsummer's Night Dream are my favorite. King Lear is basically two tragedies smooshed into one, so its a long one. Othello is also strong tragedy, but very difficult to read. The Tempest was pretty uncomfortable, and Henry IV I was highly dull and uncomfortable. Actually, don't think any of the history plays should be top picks for this. XD

Re: Shakespeare readings, I would be down for that. I do agree with Pixie, let's pick something light to start with. I like A Midsummer Night's Dream. I still have a fair few lines memorised from Hamlet due to having to remember it for exams but it is...pretty heavy.

For Shakespeare readings I'd want to start off with a comedy. If it takes off and everyone gets into it then we can start dipping into the more serious stuff later. So I'd be up for Midsummer Night's Dream. I'll also nominate As You Like It, which is basically a crazy wacky romcom with lots and lots of crossdressing. (Although let's skip Taming of the Shrew. I did that one back in high school and it's... yikes.) If we do the reading over Discord, Huntress and I can participate together on my account. But I want to be sure that whatever venue is chosen is something everyone who's interested can use.

(Although let's skip Taming of the Shrew. I did that one back in high school and it's... yikes.) Yes please. I also nominate Merchant of Venice as one to skip. I know it has more redeeming qualities than Taming of the Shrew but I'd personally not be comfortable with reading it unless we get the okay from our many Jewish NTWFers.

There are kind of... a lot of Shakespeare plays to choose from. We should have plenty of a selection with just the non-problematic ones.

I'd probably be up to joining in on some play readings too! My voice I feel is one of my weaker points in the acting department, so I dunno how ambitious I'd get with whatever role, but I can't say I've never done this before thanks to many years of theater before xD Maybe it's time to get back into it.
Midsummer is a fun one! I've never acted it before, but I do remember it being one of the few books/stories I actually finished in high school x3 (although on the topic of funky stuff, everything with Oberon and Titania sure is... something xD Not at all in a "let's skip it" kind of way of course, it just always amuses me looking back and remembering their story xD)
I also have really fond memories of Much Ado About Nothing as it was one of the most quality theater productions I've seen before, and also one of the funniest!

Yay, I'm glad to read so much interest and suggestions in Shakespeare/play readings! I'm gonna create a separate thread for this, and try to incorporate what's been said here. ^^ (Also, good points made about Taming of the Shrew and Merchant of Venice and completely agreed. Those ones will be skipped.) I'm also open to doing a section for Shakespeare poems! (Except for a certain one; the problem with it is right in the title and it's exactly what it sounds like. Don't worry, there are plenty others to choose from.) Again, more details in the thread. ^^ It also sounds like there's a lot of interest in doing Midsummer Night's Dream. I shall yield to popular opinion and plan for that first! I'd probably be up to joining in on some play readings too! My voice I feel is one of my weaker points in the acting department, so I dunno how ambitious I'd get with whatever role, but I can't say I've never done this before thanks to many years of theater before xD Maybe it's time to get back into it. In the casual Shakespeare readings I've done in the past, voice acting quality is not enforced, so as to keep it open to everyone. Dramatics are of course encouraged! But don't worry if you can't or feel you don't "compare"; it's not the point of this. Everyone who wants to read can. ^^

These are cherry tomatoes that were planted about a week ago and will be thinned Hunger Games style until there's a single strongest plant remaining in each pot. Name the plants so that we may sponsor our favourites!Shakespeare online club: I love dramatic readings!! if y'all will let me throw in my voice I will read anything. And if not I'd love to listen please. Readings where we do our best to read properly would be cool, and the inevitable bloopers reel of goofy moments and overdramatic lines will be fun. Can't think of any non-Shakespeare things to read, will bring them up if I do. (am fond of The Importance of Being Earnest but not sure how appropriate it would be)

All of our state and county parks are closed as of tonight. All of the county fairs (I volunteer for one) are canceled for this year. YAY, another day, another hour of Carolyn sobbing. Woo! I hate 2020!! *Sigh* But I hope this amounts to some positive change for everyone. I really, really hope it does. Because the mental toll it's taking is hella huge.

I've hesitated to chime in because my timezone is not a very helpful one, but if we do Midsummer Night's Dream I'd love to join in! Been so long since I read it and it's a fun play. I am equally happy reading for major characters, minor ones or heck even stage directions! If I'm able to be around at the time you set, I'll do whatever. :-) Will be fun to hang out and read classic play Goodness!
And r.e. Carolyn: *hugs* I'm sorry it's taking such a toll on you. I've been lucky in that most of my interests are easy to continue doing indoors, and I'm especially sorry to hear you lost the ability to visit the nice birdwatching place.

This sounds pretty amazing. Not sure how often I'll be able to participate, but I'd be interested. Even though I totally hate my voice on recordings. lol

If we do A Midsummer Night's Dream, I have like a billion floral pieces in my wardrobe...I can dress to match the Summery Foresty goodness!
Also pfff Moni you are good at the voice stuff. See also: a multitude of past Khamet-related examples.
