Earlier today, the Neopets Twitter account tweeted the following:
What would you like to see in a Neopets TV show? If the image they tweeted aligns with the characters in the show, I expect it would involve something with the Space Station and Faeries? But wait, why is Darigan and that pirate (I totally forgot his name)?

Seems I was beaten to the punch! Upon seeing the announcement on Instagram, my mind initially went to something along the lines of the animated shorts on Nickeleodeon under the Viacom era. After having read the Kidscreen article, it seems like it's going to be something decidedly larger.
Given how we had worried about the financial situation of the site for years, this came out of nowhere. I can see some serious potential in this... 👀

I'm cautiously optimistic. Animation in general has had such a great decade and continues to go strong, and several nostalgic revival shows have already proven fantastic--there's clear precedent now for how to do this well, and how to do it poorly. If they can get a good team I think we're in for a fun time, if not...
I don't have time to read the article atm but I wonder if they've already done voice casting. X)

I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this, and I'm too afraid to imagine any one direction it may go and get my hopes up too much xD It sounds like they're still very early in development, like without even a general plotline or characters figured out, so I feel like it'll be a while before we see anything really come of this. It's interesting, though, and for now all I hope from it is an increase in interest in Neopets again so I have better justification for making my comics lol
As for why Darigan and Scarblade are there, I honestly they just pasted in a number of site characters to make an intriguing enough graphic for the article. I highly doubt that's actual concept art for the show or any indication of plans they have for its story or characters.

I've never heard of Beach House Pictures.
What are some other things they've done?

Hm, the picture with Darigan as part of the villains line-up is a little weird. But it's true that it could just be a promotional thing. I'm going to hold judgement until we know more. I feel the concept can work, if executed well.
As for Beach House Pictures, I've never heard of them either. And it took me some work to properly google it. From what I can tell, it's an independent video production company in Singapore. They do seem to have some pages where they have some videos up. I have yet to check out any of these videos. But there's also no wiki page or anywhere else I can find with more information.

Yeah the image they shared is just a load of old concept art, nothing related to the actual show. Remember they did the same thing for Legends and Letters where they had art of Moltara Yooyuball players as the main baddies?

I've never heard of Beach House Pictures. What are some other things they've done? I swear their site is SO slow. This is what I got from Kidscreen: The new Neopets series also marks one of Beach House’s only animated series, since the prodco is best known for making live-action puppet shows, including Hiccup & Sneeze (135 x 30 minutes), Teddies (45 x 30 minutes), and the live-action Kooki’s Crafty Show (26 x 30 minutes). Its animated catalogue includes animal focused shows Hatching Time (16 x 45 seconds) and Where’s My Bed (nine x one minute), which were produced for Blue Ant-owned kidsnet ZooMoo. ***** Edit: FINALLY got through their site and checked out their Kids' shows. They have: Kooky's Crafty Show Teddies Hiccup and Sneeze Zoomoo's Got Brains Kids vs Film Zoomoo News Where's My Bed (animated) Animal Noises Hathcing Time (animated)

Blue Ant Media's Beach House Pictures doesn't ring any bells for me. Here's their website: blueantmedia.com/international/titles/Looks like they do a lot of documentaries and live action tv shows. XD

Let's not forget that the idea for a Neopets TV show has been floating around for quite a long time now, even since the Nickelodeon/Viacom days, with the short animation specials (Heck, I remember when they teased the possibility of a Neopets Movie, but that turned out to be a hoax, most likely.)
Personally though, I'm not too sure what to think of it; on one hand Neopets is a whole goldmine of story possibilities, with all the characters, minor and plot-specific, and plots to choose from, all with the proper ingredients just begging to be adapted. Granted, I imagine many aspects of such a show based on a webgame would be very tricky to pull off for a television series. And speaking of, even if a channel were to pick it up, there's no guarantee it will be successful on TV, since streaming is becoming the next best thing. (Wonder if they'll pitch it to Netflix?)
Hmm...never heard of that company either, and from what I see on their website, their array of experience does seem to include some animated features and shorts. So this isn't their first foray into animation. Though, another question is, would they be competent enough to pull of what could be a decently long running show based on something as vast in scope as Neopets? I hope I'm right on that account, cause a part of me is curious to see how they would pull this off.

I was thinking it would either go direct to streaming or be relegated to some lesser known network for kids shows like Qubo. I don’t know what streaming service it’ll be on though. I wouldn’t be happy if it was on HBO or another premium cable channel. HBO is pretty pricey compared to others.
I hope they don’t do anything weird like make Fyora have a squeaky voice or rely on too much slapstick comedy. I would like to see them develop characters and I don’t have much to go off of with some of the info for Beach House. I hope to hear more details soon, like dates and stuff.

To add onto my previous post, I have no idea what to expect from this, which only adds to my interest and cautious optimism if anything.
I'm also wondering to what extent that the announcement alone, let alone the actual premiere, will boost Neopets' internet presence. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself there, but a guy can dream.
I'm going to try my best to stay on top of updates from the site itself about this, as this is early and there's so much to be revealed.

I feel like it would be smart for them to make the show a separate continuity from the site? Or at least not closely related to existing site lore? Tying in site lore would be a little dense for a TV series, IMO. XD
At any rate, I'm gonna go with cautious optimism for now. The fact that the company they're partnering with is pretty unknown is not... super promising, but who knows? Maybe they'll blow us away.

I wonder if their site is getting swamped. xD; It was working for me earlier when I didn't have time to watch any of the clips but now it's at an absolute crawl.

I wouldn’t be happy if it was on HBO or another premium cable channel. HBO is pretty pricey compared to others. I very strongly doubt HBO would pick this up. Pretty sure they'd laugh this one off if it were pitched to them. That, and HBO is not as widely available as it used to be depending on people's TV subscriptions and plans.
Speaking on that note, in terms of artstyle, it wouldn't be too far-fetched for them to go 3d, since Neopets actually do translate well into 3d format (look at the ps2 and psp games and especially the new Neopets X app).
However, if they go for 2d, I really, really, REALLY hope they don't go for the Calarts style. Too many shows have it, it's too minimalistic in terms of character design, and people are starting to get tired of everything looking the same. (That's me stating it nicely.)
Also, I hope they aren't afraid to sneak in some of the darker aspects of the Neopets lore into the TV series. I don't expect this to be an action series in any way, but you can count me out if it doesn't aim to be more than just some run-of-the-mill kids show.
