Most of the species have counterparts now but some don't have a matching mythical being to match with. Those who are mixed species can be elves, humans, dwarves, gnomes, cyclopses or centaurs. I need help with this:
Acara <> Aisha <> Basts Blumaroo <> Bori <> Bruce <> Buzz <> fairies, sprites, pixies Chia <> Chomby <> Cybunny <> Draik <> dragonfolk Elephante <> Eyrie <> harpies, sphinxes, griffins (quads) Flotsam <> merfolk Gelert <> dog people Gnorbu <> Grarrl <> orcs Grundo <> gnomes Hissi <> gorgons (pls bring a pair of shades), nagas Ixi <> fauns, centaurs (ixi raiders) Jetsam <> merfolk Jubjub <> trolls Kacheek <> kitsune Kau <> minotaurs Kiko <> Koi <> merfolk Korbat <> bat people Kougra <> werecats, cat people Krawk <> orcs, goblins Kyrii <> satyrs, dryads (werewolves) Lenny <> sirens Lupe <> wolf people, kitsune (werewolves and selkies) Lutari <> otter/weasel people Meerca <> halflings Moehog <> Mynci <> monkey people Nimmo <> kappas Ogrin <> sphinxes Peophin <> merfolk, itcthyocentaurs Poogle <> Pteri <> sirens, quetzalcoatl, phoenix Quiggle <> kappas Ruki <> insect people Scorchio <> dragonfolk Shoyru <> dragonfolk Skeith <> orcs, dragonfolk Techo <> lizard people Tonu <> Tuskaninny <> selkies Uni <> centaurs, pegacorns (quads) Usul <> dryads Vandagyre <> Wocky <> kitsune Xweetok <> dryads Yurble <> satyrs Zafara <>

Not sure I completely get what you're trying to go for but here's my suggestions:
Acara = Medusa/Gorgon Blumaroo = Faun Bori = Dwarves Bruce = Snow Spirit Chia = Mandrake Chomby = Saurian Cybunny = Jackalope Elephante = Tapir Gnorbu = Sasquatch Kiko = Mermen Moehog = Pigmen Poogle = Halfling Tonu = Orc/Ogre Vandagyre = Owlbear Zafara = Faun
Royal = Deity Stealthy = Shadow Person Swamp Gas = Gill-man Tyrannian = Orc/Ogre Wraith = Wraith/Ghost

Maraquan Acara could almost be like the Krackin or a mythical beast. Small but at least able to stick their tenticles into you, sucking off your mask or doing damage with their suction cups. I have played Neopets a long time and the origional Acara was thought to be aquatic. You would put them in a watery setting. I could see a Bori being some sort of Dwarf. They do like to dig but they can also spend time above ground. They long for underground if they are out of it for too long. Sort of like a Lord of the Rings thing. Zafara could almost be like some sort of jungle dweller. I almost want to say they could be mean, like a veloceraptor when threatened. Gnorbu is great to have around. They may not be in leadership but they can pull their weight, literally. If there is a soldier down, they will help them up. Elephant could be anything from a dwarf to a war pack animal. Elephants have been used for war or heavy lifting in may stories through the ages. Although they are very intelligent and long for freedom. I would say to put them in a postion where they are scary but also long for freedom. Misunderstood. Kiko just seem too fun to be taken seriously. I don't have any as pets. Wise cracking side kick would be nice. Also can be intelligent, but overlooked. Moehog could be tribal. Jungle, Savanna. They defend their territory. They can be loyal to other tribe members. They may need their space if they butt heads with others. Tonu are chaotic. I own a baby one and I would see them as almost like a chaotic force. Anything can happen with them. They can create a diversion. They can destroy whole villages just by running away from a bee. They get frustrated when trying to use fine motor skills or anything that requires a delecate touch. If you are trying to defuse a bomb, you would perhaps not want a Tonu to do it. Vandegryre: I would put them in a night setting. They can see well at night during clear conditions. They can do spying or Reconnaissance. They would not like to get their feathers ruffled though, so they would tend to avoid situations with unsanitary conditions, fog, getting sprayed with anything. They can be cute or scary, depending on the situation. They can be a mole or undercover, playing both sides. Very manipulative if they want to be, using big cute eyes to get their way. Don't underestimate what they can see though. They can turn their heads nearly around in 360 degrees so they can always have their eyes on you. They can be very silent and patient when they want to be. I would tend to put them in the realm of an elf, wizard or sage when they are older and more mature.

Ok, I'll search about it.
The elves I thought of are like in Lord of the Rings though. Jeran and Lisha fits this species since they're a family of two different Neopets.

That was just a little joke! XD (... that exposes how old of a fossil I am.) The Cerpull (a dragonlike creature) was one of the original Neopets. It was redrawn into the Tatsu, and then shortly after completely revamped into the Eyrie.

Oh, I get it.
I was inspired by Narnia, Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons to do this AU. I also thought of what fantasy classes they can have here in this list:
Warrior / Fighter: The melee hack-and-slash class that is often the hero of the game. Knight / Paladin: A class clad in heavy armor, made to absorb all that enemies dish out. Barbarian / Berserker: The big guy with an equally big weapon, used to smash enemies. Monk / Martial Artist: A melee class that forgoes weapons for their powerful fists and martial arts. Archer / Ranger: The ranged class with bows or guns. This role can also be taken by the Rogue or Hunter classes. Thief / Rogue / Assassin: The sneaky bandit with itchy fingers and a nose for treasure, and wields a mean dagger. Priest / Healer: The class who makes sure the party survives the encounter with their heals and revives. Mage / Wizard: The class with the spells to burn, freeze, electrify, or just make enemies disappear. Summoner / Necromancer / Druid: Minions galore with the summoning powers of this class. Bard/Musician: The class that use their artistic talents, usually playing instruments to induce magical effects.
I also made different parties based on their plots:
Meridell: Jeran (Elf Paladin) Helena White (Elf Ranger) Kai Brightcloak (Cat person Druid) Kristina (Human Wizard) Illusen (Faerie Sorcerer) Vincent (Satyr Bard)
Lost Desert: Jazan (Satyr Sorcerer) Nabile (Faun Ranger) Tomos (Rogue) Horace Zina Lyra (Human Paladin) Aurrick
Darkest Faerie + Faerie's Ruin Tormund (Human Paladin) Roberta (Human Sorcerer) Hanso (Rogue) Brynn (Fighter)
Hannah and the Ice Caves + Curse of Maraqua: Hannah (Bard) Armin Kanrik (Rogue) Garin Jacques (Fighter) Isca (Mermaid Wizard) Caylis (Mermaid Sorcerer)
Cyodrake's Gaze: Captain Tuan Shumi Orrin Bonju Kentari Linae Anshu Kaia Reizo
Journey to the Lost Isles + Atlas of the Ancients: Roxton Lilian Scraps Clara Chatham Jordie
The Resistance: Gorix Cylara Scout Commander Valka
Neovia: Bruno Reginald Sophie (Sorcerer) Gilly (Bard) Kell Corbin
