Yeah, yeah, yeah... it's here!
Wait, you don't know what the Warm Fuzzies are?
Simply put, this is a forum event where you people sign up, write compliments to everyone else who signs up, send it to a hub-person (me), and then I distribute them in return! So you say nice things and you get nice things, and hopefully you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. So if 100 people sign up, you get to write 99 compliments for every other participant, and at the end, you receive 99 compliments!
(Your "warm" fuzzies must be higher than room-temperature, note.)
So, here's a more concrete rundown: there's a sign-up period where people can sign-up, after which sign-ups close. Every user writes a compliment (a "warm fuzzy") to every other user on the list. I display this list of the people who are signed up for this event and gather all the compliments. After the deadline to write the fuzzies, I organize these compliments, make them all nice and anonymous, randomize their order, and send them out! Thus it ends.
This event will be run identically to how it was run last year (click here to see that) except on a slightly tighter schedule; you'll have 3-4 weeks to write your fuzzies.
Here are some guidelines for how to write your warm fuzzies (shamelessly copy-pasted):
1. Warm fuzzy compliments should be substantial. That means no "you're cool I guess" or "you r sexy" type comments. "You're funny" is a little better, but still not exactly what we're aiming for. Try to make your fuzzies specific--you think a person is funny, but why do you think they're funny? Something like "Dear X, I like your Y because Z" is more in the ballpark. As a general rule of thumb, try to show and not tell. Be thoughtful.
2. Warm fuzzy compliments should be positive. They're warm fuzzies, not acerbic boiling fuzzies.
3. If you don't know a person enough to write something thoughtful about them, you can PM them or look at their posts to see what they're like. Just... within reason.
4. Fuzzies will take a lot of time to write, so pace yourself. Write maybe one or two a day.
5. Please don't send pounds of microwaved fur to my house. I don't want actual warm fuzzies.
