I'm on the fence about a lot of this dialogue, but I do like the idea that Kanrik just up and stole somebody's Neopie and kept it. Like. Why, dude, why.

With the dialogue, it feels that the characterization and actions of Kanrik feels more like something that Hanso would do instead of the stoic mercenary from Hannah and the Ice Caves/the Obelisk Battle that we're probably used to.

*blinks* Is this like my old series in which I made Hanso and Kanrik fight over a magic teapot that made them swap bodies?
I'm keeping my expectations comfortably low for this event. To me it doesn't seem like a serious addition to lore, more like a way to gather us to do An Activity and make us Click on the Things to Obtain a Result. The riddles actually do make me think for a while and are fun enough that I want to figure them out instead of just finding the answers. =o The dialogue is decent, despite some inconsistencies in characterisation. Hannah sounds a bit more like herself, and the two seem to be taking turns sassing each other. It's just odd when Kanrik takes over the "joking" side of the conversation instead of sticking to brooding. Although this *is* Hannah he's chatting with, and they were interrupted in the middle of a personal conversation in the middle of the Obelisk War which is quite canon, so I am willing to accept them acting more buddily together.

Got half the clues on my own today, the third one tripped me up big time and so I just gave in with the fourth as well x3 The third one I was trying to think just what lands have anything to do with time. All I came up with was Tyrannia and Altador, but then what do they have to do with "neither nor solid state" or whatever the clue was. But then I thought, maybe Jelly World??? I felt so clever thinking of it too x3 When nothing there worked, though, I just gave up and looked up the answer. I would've never guessed the Advent Calendar.

Precisely what I've been thinking too. Hanso would've been a better choice, and it would be quite interesting to see him interact with Hannah. We might never get that team up though... As for the Neopie, well...why not steal one?

As for the Neopie, well...why not steal one? Oh man, Hannah and Hanso would have such a fun dynamic. One-liners everywhere. Sooooo Kanrik appears to have been poisoned by an assassin. Aside from this being completely out of left field, he also seems awfully quick to just be like WELP GONNA DIE TOMORROW LOL. Kanrik seems like he has depression.
Also, a poison that doesn't act for 24 hours is awfully convenient. Does seem like something an assassin would use but NOT IN A CLOAK-AND-DAGGER ATTACK DANG IT. That's the kind of thing you put in their soup and then by the time they start showing symptoms you've ridden into the sunset.
I'm probably overthinking this.

" How could a King go missing?"
"I don't know. Maybe he went on one of your adventures" That line was so bad, I literally facepalmed. It was pretty clear since day one of this event Kanrik would be way OOC, but man, that bit of dialogue irritated me. Even Hanso would roll his eyes and shake his head in disgust at that attempt of a snark. Speaking of, this dialogue would make way more sense if it were Hanso in place of Kanrik. He's got the ego, the snark and the facade behind it all to make up for it. "*laughs cryptically*"Uh...how exactly do you laugh...cryptically?

I'm holding out before calling out dialogue for being OOC. Look, Hanso didn't invent snark, and he doesn't have copyright on it. The dialogue we're getting here isn't super dazzling me, but even though Kanrik is popular for his brooding-ness and redemption arc and for being a pretty bad boy... his personality wasn't *that* developed in canon in the first place? I'm enjoying this like I would enjoy fanfiction.

I don't think it is so much out of character as Only One Character. Really, if you swapped the portraits to Lyra and Aurrick, and removed the specific references to Hannah and the Ice Caves, these conversations could have been part of Lyra and the Lost Heirloom. Or the Wraith Resurgence. Or the Daily Dare.
Jumpstart can only write one way. Characterisation is just the picture by the dialogue in the majority of cases.

So dramatic, lmao. Oh man, Hannah and Hanso would have such a fun dynamic. One-liners everywhere. I desperately want this now. D: Clue comments: Well...at least I was on Roo Island before I caved and went to JN. ^^; But yes! I remember the map revamp where a lot of features moved to RI after the Daily Dare and those purple bugs. I think the item concept was clever though.
Oh, are they actually remembering the transition/Neopocalypse? Well, I suppose that was a big event in Neo's history, even if it wasn't the happiest. The item makes me really sad though...Habi, KQ, and Petpet Park...T-T
The Money Tree riddle was actually really cute. :3 Ooh, 20k nps? Thank you~! I was wondering about the choice of the Money Tree, but I see they are remembering Charity Corner, okay. I didn't realize 2015 was the first year of it. *checks JN* Oh, that's because it wasn't.

Final clues ... Really? Kanrik's been poisoned and the supposed 'cure' is the same crystal that's needed to restore Neopia's core. That doesn't make any sense at all, even by Neopets standards.
