Denver Returns 14 Bison to Tribal Land in Reparation and Conservation Efforts. Here's a bit more information as well from Denver's website. I found it interesting the timing of me finding this article, as I'd been wondering about bison lately and what conservation efforts are currently in place for them. I remember in school they taught us the significance of bison to the Midwest and its Native Americans, but I don't think I've ever seen a live one before despite where I live. I'd love to imagine a world someday where they're much more commonplace.

Whisky firm Grant's employs cocker spaniel sniffer dog at Ayrshire distillery. There is a dog out there who sniffs out defects in whisky barrels, and his boss is called Mr. Wooff. This has no deeper meaning, nor is it supposed to inspire profound hope for humanity. It just sparks joy for me to know that, if I drink certain whiskies, they will have been inspected by a beautiful good boi.

I don't know who at Blues Clues snapped, but their Youtube channel has released another pride-related video, this time being a full blown pride parade. There is sooo much being represented/mentioned here, from gender identities like trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, and genderfluid; non traditional families and found families; POC with specific references to indigenous people and BLM; the disabled community; bi, pan, and ace as distinct yet coexisting communities; etc. It's really impressive seeing just how much they put into this. It feels like such a big risk to take for the kind of show it is and I hope overall reception they get is positive. The video is here, but here's also a screenshot that sums up the video's visual representation:

The article says effective immediately, people can check off F or M for their gender without medical proof, but the third gender option will take some time to implement. There's no hard date on this, which has received some criticism, but activist groups are also still glad to see this step in the right direction.

Going to try a few of these? Mostly dating back to end of last year. Special thanks to magazine Le Monde Des Ados for doing a nice numbered list of positive news to get some optimism into their teenage readers, and prompting me to crosscheck the news they listed, sadly scratch some from the list but keep these. Beware of negative side links, etc. Cinema returns to Somalia with first public screening in 30 yearsFrance hands back 26 treasures looted from BeninMembers of the European Parliament have voted for a single universal charging solution for small portable devices, which Apple had cautioned against.Antidote... to protect bees... from pesticides??Well uh. That could help on one end of the problem! No idea what it does for other pollinators, but bee protection good hopefully?? (caution, the image in here is uh, well, relevant) Members of the European Parliament demand European Union action plan to end the use of animals in research and testing(it's just a step but whatever, it is a step) Google, YouTube ban ads on climate misinformation'bout time

French parliament voted to make disability benefits independent from married status! About time. When this takes effect disabled French adults will no longer be made to choose between benefits and marriage.

New malaria vaccine is world-changing, say scientistsThere is a good chance that one of humanity's biggest killers, malaria, could end within our lifetime. There's already a hundred million doses on the way. Great news for developing countries, who do not have the resources to invest in the sweeping infrastructure changes fighting malaria would require. No doubt this is a much more environmentally friendly way to do it too, not requiring any draining of wetlands or pesticides to kill mosquitoes. A healthier population also means better development for these countries as they have more people who can actually do things. I see no downside to this.
