Only two countries left which still have wild polio (Afghanistan and Pakistan). If you read the article, some of the challenges in eradication are highlighted, and yet, despite all that, still managed. It may take a few years yet but we might see another crippling human disease wiped out completely in our lifetime.

My favourite has to be the Peace Prize, the Entomology prize and the Material Science Prize. The medicine prize actually makes me happy as someone who does have misophonia.
