So who here wants to hear a story before I get to the fuzziness?
In March of 2015, four years ago on Neopets, the TNT staff that had been working there was laid off. A lot of players on the site were upset that they had lost their jobs, including me. I wanted to do something for them, but I didn't know what I could possibly do.
Or so I thought.
I was talking on the boards with some writer friends and they had mentioned something about a project to say farewell to the TNT staff that had been laid off. I forget what happened exactly, but I wanted to join in. It sounded like it'd be a nice thing to take part in. So I ended up drawing a small comic for it.
(Sorry about the quality. The quality was never great and I uploaded it to Photobucket, which resized it, and had to move it to DA's Stash after a while.)
The project was being hosted on the Neopian Times Writers Forum. As a result, I wanted to make an account to see it there myself. (At least I think that's what happened, it's been four years at this point.) I was a bit nervous at first, since I never heard of this site before. Still, I went along with it.
And so, on March 25th, 2015, at 6:53 pm eastern standard time, I made my account here.
I didn't intend to stay here after taking part in the project. I thought I'd just sign up, stay for a few days during the project, and I wouldn't come back. Well, obviously, that didn't quite happen. Not sure what led me to keep coming back. I think it might have been the community, though all the topics on the forum certainly drew me in as well.
So I stayed. And I'm glad I did.
I've done so much since I first joined. I started taking part in helping with Neopian Times issue wide collabs. I've taken part in the Wrighton and Naelus roleplays. I'm currently playing in two NTWF D&D campaigns. I've grown as an artist and a writer during the years. I've grown more comfortable talking to others.
It's strange. It doesn't feel like I've only been here for four years. It feels like forty years and four days all at once. You know what I mean? Things have changed so much over the years and there are many things that stayed the same. I still love drawing, I still love writing, I still love moths and cats and other animals, and I still love referencing Mayday Parade's song "Three Cheers for Five Years" whenever I can. I don't see any of those changing, even as I become an Ancient Fogey or whatever may come after that.
Anyway, I wanted to say thanks. Thank you, fellow members of the NTWF. I love you all and I'm glad to have all of you in my life. ^^
