"Oh, get over yourself, princess!" - lyra, to her father, 2k19 honestly this is so bad it's good territory I saw this post first before I read the update, and I honestly hadn't been sure if it was really a legit quote or a joke, LOL.

Here's what I'm not getting with the update:
How did she jump all the way over to the boat?
And why was the captain so chummy about a person who just avoided a sword to the face? Surely he would've seen some action (or at least heard) the banter between the two?
And it took until he was followed to be like "alright, who are you actually?"
So the captain doesn't to be on the wrong side of the law, knows these guys are authority, but then continues to evade them? Unless he thinks of Aymas as a terrible force, even as an outsider. What's in it for him to help his daughter while also risking his neck?
Also, I think we found our next interactive step:
Follow me, I need you to help me manoeuver the boat.
Let's hope it's not a glitchy flash game. \o/

Huh, this game seems better suited for mobile use then desktop use.

At first I was having difficulty with the game... then I realized I could use the arrows keys instead of the mouse. And yeah, I figured out on my own that the obstacles don't appear in the same lane twice in a row, once I did get the bubbles and 400 obstacle achievement no problem (I got the five minute achievement on an earlier attempt).
I guess it's a fun game, if a bit tedious. After figuring out the strategy I don't really have any complaints about it except for one nitpick: the Zumagorn. While neat you're invincible while using it, when it runs out for a second or two you're still going fast but without the invincibility to are likely to hit something. Wished your slowed down first and then had the invincibility run out. Also why a Zumagorn? That's a Faerie Petpet. Shouldn't it have been a Desert Petpet like a Horus?

Huh, this game seems better suited for mobile use then desktop use. Precisely. Because it is. The vertical resolution, the UI, and the specific instructions to "Tap" to move the ship around (which kinda doesn't make sense since you have to click the mouse, or just use the arrow keys, instead) are dead giveaways.
I think its clear what direction the site is going with its new content from here on...
And man, the sea creatures! I had no idea the river running through the Lost Desert was so treacherous! I'm sure plenty of neopians feel safe going to the local beaches now...

This was an amazing tip. Instead of trying to avoid incoming projectile sea monsters within 0.005 seconds, you can just wait for it to pass by and then take its position, which gives you closer to a second to react (ie. waaaaaay more time). Also some other strategies I used: 1. Avoid the stupid red petpet if possible. 2. Along the same lines, avoid going for the coins; they don't count for any of the achievements. 3. BUT COLLECT BUBBLES. THEY WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE. Also puts less stress on you when you know you have 4 backup bubbles for stupid mistakes and you're at 250+.

THANK YOU for the tips! Especially the ones about how there 'won't be an obstacle in the same lane in a row," and the "don't go for the coins" tips. Those really helped. Wasn't doing well at all at first, until I read these tips, then I got all the achievements in the next two runs. And since the two long achievements give you the notification mid-game, and I wasn't getting one for the bubbles one, I thought maybe you had to have four saved up... Like a bubble count of 4, not just collecting 4 throughout the game, if that makes sense. I was so relieved when I went to check and saw the four bubbles one was green.

I've honestly stopped caring at this point. Other plots, I worked hard to squeeze in every achievement, but this time . . . it doesn't feel worth it. And by that I mean, you literally get nothing from participating -- unlocking the achievements only results in a bar turning green, there's no bonus prize. The games don't even give you a handful of NP for playing. And the writing is . . . egh. There's the prize shop preview, but there's not really any way of earning points unless the prize shop points are based entirely on how many achievements you've unlocked. Two books, one album item, and weapons that may or may not be of any use do not an impressive haul make.
I haven't gotten the under 25 second achievement for the first game or the over 400 point one for the second, and playing past the point of frustration for, at best, a slightly better trophy doesn't really motivate me.

the arrow keys being usable was really intuitive for me--it never occurred to me to try the mouse lol! and the "rules" for the generation of obstacles are so consistent that you can predict what it'll look like after a while.
maybe i'm just an EPIC GAMER tho.

What's worse is, like many players, I miss the old art style. The comic/graphic novel style that was so appealing pre-Faeries Ruin plot has pretty much been tossed to the wayside for one full illustration while all dialogue is handled through a rather clunky interface. Doesn't help that the art in this plot just feels at times...lazy *cough*part 13*cough*. It's just not the same.
Speaking of which, I just tried another run of Lyra's Escape, and right when I hit the 400 obstacles achievement, I immediately got a game over. I had 7 bubbles. And I didn't even hit anything. In other words, the game crashed.
Glitch? Or completely on purpose by design? XP

Others have reported the game auto-crashing when your score hits 400. It's part of the game's (really bad) design.
And yeah, I really miss the old comics. I miss the characters having different expressions -- Aurrick just looks angry half the time, no matter what the tone is supposed to be.

I chalk it up to the TWR disaster that was everyone donating as many potions and battling as many enemies as possible without reward. Probably the programmers designed it to be failsafe in that aspect, ie. cant have the public roaring about achieving scores over 10000 without any gain.

Wonder if they'll catch on that not being able to earn points outside of frustration-inducing "achievements" (at least theoretically) and getting no rewards, not even NP, before the "prize shop" comes out isn't actually an improvement.
