Duke Pikachu- Not the first time JSN has walked on eggshells, so to speak. Remember, this event is just coming on the heels of the Grarrl Day clothing controversy, even though it was not politics related. Still, once this event is live, it probably will be uncomfortable, if it hasn't already with the shopkeepers.

you know what they should have put that in the neopian times lol also there's actually a coup happening in sakhamet??? over foriegn aid??? this is the most realistic event neopets has ever had??? What surprises (and disappoints) me is that they didn't design the newspaper like an ancient Egyptian scroll (which would be a nice bit of attention to detail).
Using a more modern newspaper design was a little lazy (and for lack of a better term, immersion/lore breaking) on their part. |

to me, neopia's already a mish-mash of worlds. i take this as the neopian times reporting on foriegn politics or something. but i have to say this situation reminds me of egyptian politics... 7? years ago, so the more modern design doesn't bother me so much for that reason lmao. (except instead of foriegn aid the protests were to topple the autocratic regime... military even helped out!... and the rest is... errrrgh rip "arab spring.") But seeing as we're talking about Neopian politics, I would like to share with y'all one of my most popular posts on tumblr. image is a bit big, so i'll spoilerbox it. one of the things that's safe for the ntwf because no swearing! (also not really political because i think i make fun of each quadrant lmao. even the centrists.) |

imo, the art - particularly the character design - continues to be quite good. A huge step above the recycled assets and Kaia being posed and re-posed like a Barbie in TWR. Also, the site theme is nice and and, from what I've seen while clicking around, includes relevant characters this time. The only minor complaint about the site theme is that there's no dedicated space in the header graphic for the event or the username/NP/NC/logout text and links so you're reading the white text over a background.

Neopedia Article: The Lost Desert Crisis:And the situation continues to look boil as we finally see Qasala's response to this and what Aymas has been doing about the situation. Answer: Very angry & nothing. While reading this I was curious if this felt within Nabile's character and I think it does. At first I thought it was a bit forceful but Nabile does have a sassy-ness streak time-to-time, and considering she probably toughened up after becoming a queen and the current situation she's probably also a bit on edge. Especially with the current Warden doing nothing but stuffing his mouth. Meanwhile an interesting introduction to Aymas. After reading about him in the Xendrik's mansion you'd think he'd be an imposing figure. But instead we find out he might either be a bit corrupt or is lazy. And since he was seeing royalty that did put him at a disadvantage, with his promise to Nabile in the end we'll probably see the intended side of Aymas yet. As a side note, I think the writing as improved since The Wraith Resurgence, so that's good.  Now we wait to see how that one day plan Aymas turns out... AND IT BEGINS! Going to talk about the presentation first. So while not a comic book style, at the very least we get an illustration followed by narration the dialogue boxes. So think sort of like a story book. Alright, hopefully for some chapters that require it we get more than one image, but I can accept for now this simpler way of story telling. Also the artwork quality had shot up (for JS standards). Lyra is actually in a dynamic pose instead of a default one with different facial features. Also I'm liking Lyra and Aurrick's design, Aurrick specifically noted to look like the Krawk from the upcoming Letters & Legend game... hmm...
As for the chapter itself, it's just build up. We finally meet Lyra and I'm liking her already. Good design, a bit rash, would be interesting to find out why she's trying to escape the city (by climbing over the walls no less instead of just walking out) and with one of her family's heirlooms. Also, as Herdy had mentioned on the Neoboards, if we want to go by canon years than she can't be any older than 13 since Qasala returned to Neopia in 2005. But then again we also saw Neovia had Bori before the events of the Tale of Woe so I guess we could assume more time has passed (or Neopets just grow up faster than a normal human).
Nothing more to say about Aurrick at this moment aside about his appearance. Though does make me laugh it's just known he's a thief. I just started watching DnD campaigns (mainly from Team Four Star) and it's not until watching that had I realized how funny that "thief" is often used as a job class. Hey, I'm a soldier! Hey, I'm a wizard! Hey, I'm a THIEF! Speaking of classes, all we now need is a mage and we have the classic DnD party ready to go! Finally, the last NT Editorial gave us some interesting news concerning a certain scholar: HMM...

On a semi-related note.
I hope the mansion becomes some kind of new daily when this is all over. Otherwise there's going to be a big spot on the LD map that does nothing after the mini event.

Also, there's been an update!
I'm glad that it's still part of chapter one. I kinda thought we'd only get one image+text/dialogue per chapter, so this being a continuation of the same part gives me the positive impression that this story will be nicely fleshed out.
(I mean, it's not like they couldn't make as many chapters as they wanted to, but this also organizes the story better into distinct acts/sections. 😊)
