Session 76: Names Learned! Angubach: otherwise known as The Corruption, Angubach is an aboleth living within the Grey Tides off the coast of Eaine.
Mikin (he/him): a fiendish ferryman who owes Angubach a large favour, which Angubach agreed to use to help the party get into hell (to locate the god-forger) if they first free Angubach from its prison. Mikin can also provide protection for the party while they are in hell, as hell is not an easy place for mortals to traverse.
Lutea (she/her): turquoise triton woman, follower of the Corruption. Previously she was a high-ranking triton soldier. She does not speak Elvish sign.
Porites (he/him): light blue triton man, follower of the Corruption. Knows some Elvish sign.
Montastraea (she/her): the blue triton woman who fled from Anthony last session, but returned this session having somehow been healed.

Session 76: The Darkness BelowKey Points: *The party meet Angubach, the Corruption. *The party collect four magical stones, some of which affect the party themselves in intriguing ways. *Angubach speaks of a means by which the party could enter Hell. Recap Proper: Khamet wakes up Zoan, as a voice speaks to the party telepathically. It introduces itself as Angubach, and says it would like to speak with them. The party ignore the voice, but manage to confirm with Zoan that ‘the Corruption’ is named Angubach. He believes they should hear it out. Although still uncertain what to make of this whole situation, the party decide to speak with the creature further.
They convince Angubach to speak with them face-to-face. It emerges out of a cloud of eels, eel-like itself with a long slender body ending in multiple tails. Three large black eyes watch them from above a gaping mouth of many long, sharp teeth.
Angubach cautions the party to keep their distance, as the mucus surrounding its body is harmful to mortals. It has a proposition: if the party help it escape its imprisonment, it will make sure they get into Hell so they may confront the Deceiver and retrieve the God-Forger blade. It tells them that its contact is a fiend called Mikin, who can ferry them across a lake of fire and into Hell. Mikin can also provide protection for the party as they traverse Hell, which can be a dangerous place for mortals.
To free Angubach, the party will need: *Four stones representing aspects of its power. One is hidden at each of the four corners of its realm. Inconveniently for Anguback, the stones seem to be hidden from detection by their triton followers. *The blood of a triton descended from those who locked it away (Zoan is one such triton. He is willing to provide his aid, and Angubach assures the party it just needs a few drops of blood to touch those stones- this won’t kill him.) *Finally, the true name of a deceased celestial spoken over the bloodied stones will enable the group to summon the last of that creature’s energy and complete the ritual. Angubach knows one such name and can teach it to the party. Amani is concerned that this might kill someone, as this is what happened to the wizard who utilised the archfey Vystris’ true name. However, Angubach assures them that this true name can be wielded without such a dire outcome.
Angubach explains that the four stones represent the different associations of aboleth. One represents their connection to elemental water; the second reflects their psychic abilities, the third their regenerative capabilities, and the fourth the interaction between their power and this material plane. However, Angubach doesn’t know how the stones may affect mortals who touch them, except for the psychic stone. This stone bestows short-term psychic capabilities- or so it claims.
The party eventually decide to hunt down these stones. With Montastraea, the triton who fled the party, acting as their guide, they make their way across this dead protectorate. After digging for some time, Basil’s hand closes around a blue stone.
Something shifts, and he immediately knows that he can choose to project his thoughts into the minds of others. To test his new telepathy, Basil mentally reaches out to the Amani. The two proceed to have a conversation entirely inside Amani’s mind. In addition, Basil develops a resistance to psychic damage, but this latter ability will only last him 24 hours.
Others who touch the stone get short term boons. Except for Khamet. He just gets a headache.
Hours pass, and the party arrive at the presumed location of the second stone. This time it is Khamet who finds the object. When his hands closes around it, he feels a tingle in his fingers, but nothing seems to happen. Amani touches the stone and nothing happens. They tuck it away for safe keeping.
After several more hours, the party locate a third stone. This one is grey. Anthony immediately licks it. It doesn’t taste very good. Strange bark-like scales suddenly grow across Anthony’s entire body, with his existing golden scales just barely poking through.
The fourth stone is smooth and green. Anthony decides to lick this one as well. This stone has a powerful connection to elemental water, which grants him the ability to magically manipulate water and to breathe and swim underwater long after the magic of the candies wears off.
As the triton celebrate their success, Anthony puts them to sleep. The party have already resolved to put an end to Angubach, and it is time to follow through. Angubach is suspicious when they approach and it cannot sense its triton followers, but it does not immediately attack. When Thora blasts it with her eldritch powers, Angubach rushes towards the party, but to those at a distance it is nearly impossible to aim at it clearly through the swarms of necrotic eels.
Taking a risk and swimming out into the swarms, Tally lights up Angubach with their amber faerie fire. This gives the others a visual on the creature. Tally strikes it in one of its sensory organs, temporarily stunning it. Between them, the party manage to wear Angubach down without sustaining any serious wounds from the huge being.
Basil seems increasingly uncomfortable attacking this helpless creature that is begging for its life. He lowers his crossbow and insists he’s done. He doesn’t want to kill anyone else. Angubach reiterates that it is willing to make a deal- it is now very injured and will make what concessions it must to avoid its demise.
Many of the party believe Angubach is too dangerous to leave alive. Can they address Basil’s concerns and reach a decision that everyone can work with? We’ll find out next time!

Hey folks! Just a reminder that there's no EuroAtlantis this weekend, but instead we'll be gaming in two weeks. If you look at the announcements in the server: I've finally worked out how to make a time display as the local time of the viewer! So it should now be easier to check the date and time of our next session than ever before.

Session 77: Hell and High WaterKey Points:*The aboleth Angubach is soundly defeated. *Zoan and his companions agree to campaign for change within triton society...after taking some time to process today's events. *The party receive the Trident of Light. *The Fey Knight returns from Lustross, gifting Basil a magical bow. *The Hellfire Paladin reveals that she has captured both Will and a friend of Khamet's. *Riptide the triton reveals a way to get to Traitor's Gate, one entrance into Hell. Recap Proper: The Disaster Party debate whether or not to kill Angubach. Nothing the aboleth says makes it sound any more trustworthy, and so the party spring back into action. Tally tells Angubach to focus on the happiest memory of its life, as the drow moves in. While Tally finishes off Angubach with a succession of well-placed strikes, Basil and Amani hang back. Basil still cannot bring himself to kill this being while it is so helpless. Amani is worried that killing Angubach will cause a divide amongst the group, as happened when Amani killed Faith. They privately share their concerns with Thora via telepathy. The group seems okay for now, but it remains to be seen whether this sequence of events will have a lasting impact. The four triton are here too, scared and confused. Khamet tells them that if they return to Thalastria with the party, the disasters will say that the triton helped them defeat Angubach. The secrecy of triton society clearly isn’t working out, but maybe showing them how outsiders helped get rid of this threat will help change their approach.
Being the only one fluent in Elvish sign, Zoan communicates on behalf of himself and the others. They need some time to process what happened, but he is also unhappy with how his society enshrouds things so deeply in secrecy. The party have convinced him to work for change from the inside once he and his companions process recent events and return to Thalastria. Accepting this, the party go to Thalastria to report their success in defeating the Corruption. The High Protector is surprised. The party receive the Trident of Light (a golden trident adorned with coral) as a reward, along with miscellaneous items to replace those they lost in the fire, such as daggers and a rope of fibrous sea plant. It is confirmed that the agreement with Ruhnzolarr holds- he may return to the cave near Thalastria now that the Corruption has been destroyed. Exhausted from their long day, the party return to their ship and to Vadonia. It is dark when they emerge above the surface and make their way back to Cai Shaan. Once there, the party sleep in the bedroom inside Thora's magic bracelet. However, the room is of a finite size and one party member must sleep outside. Anthony puts the bracelet around his wrist and conjures a magical tiny hut around himself as he goes to sleep on the beach. The party emerge at 2pm on the 21st of Iron, startling Anthony awake. Tally signals she/her pronouns to the group. The party check on Ruhnny. She is at the palace, exasperating Merethi by chattering to him while he is working in the entrance hall. She is excited by Anthony’s new aquatic abilities, and takes the opportunity to return to live in her cave under the ocean now the Corruption is no more. As for Anthony: he travels to Vinistra’s temple to have those inconvenient bark-like scales removed, with the aid of the priestess Caverael, daughter of Lord Lyrelle. Having concluded their business at the palace, Tally and Thora perform together in a nearby square. With flashes of elemental energy, the clacking of castanets, and dancing all around, they draw quite the merry crowd. Amongst all the excitement, nobody notices a small figure join Basil.
It is the Fey Knight, returned at last from Lustross! Terri the potion master has given them a new name: Sprinkles. This is because they helped make potions by very delicately sprinkling ingredients into them. They are still immensely grateful for Basil’s aid, and gift him an enchanted elemental bow that they are Terri created together. Half the bow appears frozen, the other charred as though burned by flames.
When Tally finishes up their performance, they notice Lyrelle waiting for them. He mentions that he has had an argument with Usavias. Since they and Tally are close, he asks Tally to take them a small box as an apology. He says that will probably be in the museum garden at this time of day. With Thora in tow, Tally sets out for aforementioned garden.
They find Usavias alone, watching little fish swim in the pond. When Tally gives them the gift, they become emotional and explain its significance as a symbol of Lyrelle always being there for them. They resolve to make up with Lyrelle the next morning. The three spend some time together in the garden before Tally and Thora head back to rejoin their companions.
Meanwhile Khamet has gone to the Chipper Chipmunk. As has become the norm, Damira is tending the place. However, the grey-skinned figure at the back of the café is more unexpected. Avelina Redcastle, the Hellfire Paladin, sits drinking coffee and waiting for Khamet. She gestures for him to join her.
She says that she has captured someone important to Khamet. When Khamet asks if she means Will Avelina confesses that yes, he is a captive as well, but this was not who she meant. Khamet asks if she means Raia, but his sister is quite safe. After this, Khamet plays dumb, but the Hellfire Paladin sees right through him. She gives him an ultimatum: hand over the demiplanar key and she will return his friend to him. If not, this friend dies. Having passed on the message, Avelina vanishes.
Meanwhile, Tally and Thora are also making their way back to the group. Suddenly, Ben’s bubbles appear by Thora. He asks if she trusts him. She says that she does, and he explains that he needs her help with a ‘family matter.’ Thora agrees to help him out- but first, she wants to say goodbye to her new friends.
Before she even reaches them, Khamet rejoins the party. In a panic, he insists the party have to hand over the osseus metallicum to Avelina Redcastle. Either that, or they must travel to Hell right. Now. He isn't pressed for details. Selwyn simply asks him what he wishes to do about the situation.
Selwyn notices a muscular triton woman watching them. He calls out to her, drawing Khamet’s attention, and the paladin recognises her as the triton he briefly glimpsed trailing him on Peninsula West all those weeks ago. Introducing herself as Riptide, the triton explains that the party helped her immensely by destroying the Circle Enshadowed, who had caused a lot of problems for her and her associates. She offers to use a magic item to transport the party to Traitor’s Bridge- one entrance into Hell. To do so, each member of the party who wishes to travel there must commit three betrayals of their own character: one of thought, one of word and one of deed.
It is thus with much awkwardness that Thora admits that hey, Ben needs her and she has to go now. After she bids her friends farewell Ben appears and spirits her away. He apologises to the party for pulling Thora away at this time, but assures them it is for a very important reason.
We left off with the party discussing whether to attempt to reach Traitor’s Bridge and, if they do, what betrayals they intend to act out.
