Decided the event warranted it's own thread. = )
Anyway, I haven't logged in to neopets in half of 5eva, but curiosity got the best of me and I logged in to check out what all this portal hoopla was about. I used my starry lupe Xeln, since his paint job would be chump change to fix and his stats are irrelevant.
And proceeded to get nothing. XDD
I do wonder where this is all headed though. Could be entertaining if nothing else.

I've went through the portals three times (one with my expensive dimensional-painted battledome pet and the other two with a more expendable one).
No physical changes so far, but the first and third time, my active got Bloaty Belly and the second time my pet's intelligence went down by one. (Looks like it'll go down by around 10%, he just had 10 intelligence.)

My cybunny changed from red to yellow, nothing else yet.  Seems you can do the event every six hours or so--I've done it three times so far. I'm wondering about whether you get to choose whether to reverse the effects at the end of the event or not. Some of the possible results include 10% attack / defense changes. That's like 50 points for me. |

Yes, at the end of the event the changes can be reversed. HTT has also confirmed that if there's any additional changes in that time (like if you gain some stats from training that aren't reflected), they'll reappear at the conclusion.

How coincidental that it transforms my Quiggle into a mutant, then I go onto the new features page and there's a picture of a mutant Quiggle in the bit about the Art Gallery.
Pretty cool event, and as I said before, small things like this event make me more optimistic about Neopets' future.

After another two potal-nothings, Xeln finally got something- his attack stat went down.
Given that in his canon story he's a historian, I like to imagine this change went entirely unnoticed and he still thinks he's just being portal'd around Brightvale.
I do wonder though, is this portal business going to culminate in a new world? We already have a futuristic/sci fi world (the Virtupets Space Station, and to a lesser extent Kreludor) but Merridel was discovered via a portal into the past so it isn't unprecedented.

Just did another portal jump and Xeln had all his changes reversed. (His one change.) So that tells us a couple things;
One - while yes you can opt not to reverse the changes on your pet, you must do so by either not engaging in the event anymore or changing your active neopet. (Presumably- I don't know if the "all the changes were reversed" effect targets just the active pet or all of your pets).
Two - conversely, if you want to undo the changes to your pet, keep jumping through portals, 'cause that's how it's going to be done.
Per the neoboards - if you zap or paint a pet after having them portal'd, they'll still revert to the state they were at the start of the portaling. No word that I can find as yet on the UC pets.

My Ixi has gone through the portal seven times so far, and oddly enough, has never been affected except for three times when she contracted an illness (Bloaty Belly, Bubbles, Fuzzitus). |

It was pointed out in the Mini-comments thread, you can't go through the portals with a UC as your active. So you don't need to worry about getting a UC re-unconverted. Also, I finally got a change after all no-changes since the start of the event. Ralite went from 12 strength to 11. w0w better write home to mom about this one.
Regarding the 'what is this leading up to'
When I went through a portal just now, it took me to a page with a blue and white picture and it said like 'what's happening? could this be a glimpse into the future?' or something to that effect. Then it redirected me to a Brightvale shop page. |

Finally something else happened! Two color changes - Mutant and then Speckled. To be honest, I like the Speckled color on my Ixi (though only temporarily; I still will want her back to normal at the end). The green of the eyes is a really nice shade. |

Fortunately for me, Feerned is a temporary lab rat with low stats, so I'm not worried about stat drops.

Ooh, got a good one today! I adopted a Neopet from the pound for this, a female Red Xweetok named Nininha_12343 (don't look at me like that, I'm taking good care of her and if she doesn't get to keep a unique color she gets from this event I still have plenty of Charity Corner points to spend on painting (and maybe even changing her species) to something that'll help her find a more permanent home once she's done helping me). Until today all she got was either nothing, stat decreases, or reverted back to normal. But today she got turned to a Mutant! I hope at the end they'd give you an option to change the Neopets you sent through into a Colour it changed into.
