Hey guys, me again. I've been really busy with other stuff and have not had the time to keep up with a forum like this, but a peculiar situation arose on Neopets - one that I'm not sure I could get help with on-site from other users without getting warned/silenced - and I thought maybe you veterans could instruct me as to the correct course of action that would help both myself and the other party. I hate communicating with other users on Neopets and this is why auuugghhh.
So, I received a Neomail from a user who explained that she wants to write a Neopian Times story, but her writing tends to be quite dark and violent, and she wanted advice from me about how to write for an all-ages website. Problem is, I'm not sure graphic violence is something we're allowed to discuss on Neopets, even if we're discussing how not to be graphically violent. (I'm quite frankly surprised that Neopets's hyperactive filters allow the words "blood" and "gore".)
I would really love to reply to her and help her create works that are more upbeat and uplifting, but I'm terrified that by entering into this discussion with her, I'll be doing something against the rules. I doubt that the TNT mods see "trying to help someone" as an acceptable excuse for talking about off-limits topics. On the other hand, reporting her Neomail for "offensive content" and then completely ignoring it seems cold, and I hate leaving people in the lurch like that. (And I doubt being shut down like that would help her with her writing any.)
So I guess what I'm asking is: if I try to help her with her inquiry, do I run the risk of incurring the mods' wrath? Is the right thing to do to just report her Neomail and let her get warned, as much as it makes me cringe to do it? Or, if TNT sees her Neomail as not a reportable offense, will they instead warn me for "abusing the report form"? MORAL QUANDARY
*cough* I mean--any advice or clarification of the rules any of you might have, based on past experience, communications with TNT, etc., would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
Hope you're all having an awesome day!
