You know, with a bit of effort, they probably could have made those lights wearable.

DAY 13: (Christmas Morning Shoveling)ANIMATION: Cute, funny, and a bit true as I can totally see a parent doing this; lol. Though I can't help but think they should have used a bird Neopet like a Pteri as the clothes color for the kids reminded me of Donald Duck's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
GIFTS: Nothing much to really say. Book is nice, and never can have too much hot chocolate. DAY 14: (Game Delay Due To Festivity)ANIMATION: Nice. Always fun to see interactions between Altador Cup teams that isn't just competition.
GIFTS: Book and plushie, nothing else to say once again. Though they do sort of feel more like unused Altador Cup prizes as they don't really have anything holiday-related about them. DAY 15: (Holiday Sweater For Everyone)ANIMATION: Cute and a bit funny with who the extra sweater was for... especially since today my cousin's dog was gifted a dog sweater, lol. Though odd they gave one of the Quiggles kids the same wrinkly eye as the grandmother.
GIFTS: Plushie is alright though when I saw the Knitting Set I at first thought they were giving out an already existing item. But as it turns out there's a group of Knitting Set items and this is a new addition, which I think is pretty neat. Also odd we also got a Dubloon too, looks like someone didn't update the code from last year. DAY 16: (Glaring Decorations)ANIMATION: Cute though saw where it was going. Also anyone else feels the characters should have been Corbin and Kell?
GIFTS: Book is nice though why isn't Lights in Darkness a wearable, could easily be a background?

OKAY DAY 17 IS GENIUS AGAIN I mean okay, granted it's not as good as the KASS SLICER animation, which is the best animation in advent calendar history, but it's pretty up there. I mean... wow, another lore throwback to another really good plot! Is it 100% canon? I dunno, but I'd like to think that after ... 10 years? Sophie has gotten over her BAD EXPERIENCE! thing and can invite the fam over. The prizes are also super cute. :3

Know what I like about the day 16 animation? Since the new management took over, they'll have been learning the site the same way a new player does. This means that they don't have the inevitable bias of "this thing is a central part of lore, this other thing is just some forgotten retro crap that doesn't merit attention" - everything is on equal footing for them to discover, use and show to the players as animation clips. I haven't played the Haunted House in a million years, but of course I did sometime back when I was a newbie, and then pretty much forgot about it. For them, it's as new and relevant as everything else.
And day 17 just gave me the feels D: Tale of Woe was a heckuva dark plot when you think about it (that nurse who starved to death in an asylum, whut) and all those families who got broken up, turned against one another, embittered and ostracised, hnng all the adult fear. Why yes, I'll accept as canon that they've started to heal the issues now.

December 17th: Now this was pretty heartwarming. Sophie and her family having Christmas Dinner at (I assume) Sophie's shack, then an unexpected, but always welcome guest shows up to join them. And who is the mysterious visitor? Why it is Gilly of course! I've got to say it's very heartwarming to know that ever since the Tale of Woe plot, life has gotten much better for the spirited Usul orphan; she has a roof under her head that she can go to at any time, no longer will she have to rely on dark infested caves and hollow, mossy logs for shelter against the elements and as a place to sleep, where she can have a hearty meal rather than just living off of berries she finds in bushes, and most importantly of all, a circle of true friends and perhaps even an adoptive family.

Day 17- Oh! The extra patapult one-pack is pretty nice. I've never played this before. Managed to get one of the gold statues though, and nabbed a nifty background. It's nice that you get three tries, too, rather than "one try and-oops, that went really wrong"

Today's animation comments: My goodness that was adorable. xD Granny Hopbobbin is the sweetest Neopian, going around being the modern Santa, without judgement or snobbishness. Everyone is deserving of new clothes and some love during this season, and I am happy she is involved in that. It's not surprising, given her character, but this animation still gave me the warm fuzzies.

My new theory now is that the next charity corner will be medicine and cures to try and cure her impending zombification.
I am awful xD

Today's Jinjah on the plate of cupcakes, right before the Usul pours the pot. It's large, so it should be easy to click, despite the pot obscuring the Jinjah

Advent Calendar Thoughts I'm really loving the vast pool of older neopian content that some of the advent calendar animations have been pulling from. Faerie Racers, Tale of Woe, Gormball, and now Freaky Factory. Tons of things that I haven't even thought about in ages. Really gives the impression that the newer team seems to care quite a bit.
