See, the easy way out would be to just thin the lines of the steps, rather than thicken all the other lines. But I also tend to take the easy way out when it comes to art.
I have heard about line thickness/variation, and how you can use it for shadow or weight. I don't tend to worry about that, I do have line variation, but it's whatever comes naturally from my drawing material. I also tend to favor a heavy line.

Twillie Ahh ok, I get it now! I totally see how that changes the emphasis on the face. Thanks, I'm gonna play with it some more and try to sort it out! June Scarlet Oh I'm totally planning to do that as well. Really the steps were the only thing I left in the initial sketch form while I was working on the figure which is why they look so out of place. But yeah being able to control line weight with pen pressure is definitely a game changer but it adds a lot of nuances I'm still getting the hang of. Honestly the thing that gets me as I get used to art and drawing is how it turns there's not really any one skill called "drawing" that you get good at and then you're done? It's more like there's 2503298 dimensions of new techniques you can use and they're all basically optional, but when you decide to pick one up you end up with a whole new learning curve for that one separate thing lol. It's kinda wild.

*deep breath* OK so Internet Boy and I were talking about this figurine we found on reddit that was a frog but like... inexplicably curvy? And we were joking around about it and then this happened and I blame him. 100%. This is his fault.

The giant WIP from last page is. Possibly done? I'm doing a thumbnail link for thread purposes since it's so huge. Honestly not sure whether to consider this finished but honestly I am so tired of this drawing. xD;

This is an old Zelda OC who I decided to draw for old times' sake. Something feels off about her eye focus but I'm having trouble fixing it. Meh? (Also I still can't shade hair lol)

Drew some more Dragon Ball Z silliness and was looking at it like lol wow this sucks but then I uploaded and it got instantaneously faved by someone who draws ridiculously good semi-realism which made me feel better :B

Preview: lol gaaaayyyy Trying to work on drawing clothing details, also still needs some perspective tweaks. Trying to nail down body language and facial expressions as well. I was trying to get curly over there on the right to look... terrified lol but very specifically not the skeeved-out kind of terrified, which it turns out may be a finer line to walk than I thought. (For context, he does in fact like this boy but is socially awkward as heck for backstory reasons so he's dimly considering saying "hey sorry, I have to go wash my mom" opening a third-story window and hard-bailing out into the treacherous waters below) Critique appreciated as always!

Thumbnail again, 'cause big. The biggest thing I think I'm working on rn is my shading. Unsure if I'm improving at it, maybe I need to do some exercises and just focus on that for a bit.

Here internet, I drew u a Bulma She's hard to pick out clothes for because they have to be the right kind of tacky. Like true vintage tacky with questionable accessorizing but you could still credibly see a human being somewhere actually putting them on. Anyways I hate pinterest but I will say it's fantastic if you're trying to learn to draw clothes.

Ooh, I love the colours, and such a distinctive face! That looks like a person with a story or two.

Celestial Thanks celes! I'm doing my best not to fall victim to the "only six faces" thing in my art so that's good to hear ^^

" Angelcap was a lavender-tinted mushroom that grew rarely in damp mountain places; it was widely recognized for its use in consuming and transmuting negative magic, in much the same way as other fungi appreciated a good rotting log. The problem with collecting it was that its very presence indicated an active curse in the area." I wrote this line quite a while back but hadn't really given much thought to what the mushroom actually looked like. Then tonight I realized that with a name like angelcap, it would be a huge wasted opportunity if I didn't give it a ring of eyeballs.
