Gather round, little forumers; let me open my dusty old photo album and bore you all with my stories. Hey, you stay right here, no escape! I have more than 50 screenshots and things to say about each of them. Back in my day, young petpets had a Park to play in. It was a beautiful world of Beta testing, glitches, cutesy little games, a hopelessly borked chat system with a very strict filter, and thousands of newbies who seemed to be taking their first steps ever on the internet. (Really, if I tried to chat with anyone, they would turn out to be afk and be auto-logged out in 99% of cases.) It was a sweet little world with music, items, scenery, minigames, and adorable NPCs. Absolutely no challenge game-wise, but not bad for a relaxing stroll. I will not say much about the gameplay or quests in this thread - in fact, I've even cropped the menus and icons out of my screenshots. Information about gameplay remains on Jellyneo, bless them very much. Now let me tell you the story of a brilliant and successful petpet. Where would a bright young petpet start their life? In school, of course! That's right, school. Petpet Park had schools. Actual functional schools with actual professors and actual school activities. That's one thing Petpet Park's got on Neopets, one! That's me in front of my school! Aren't I cute? Dressed to impress - don't look at those other nerds. Not included in this screenshot: the other schools and the Wishing Well. The Wishing Well was like one of those NC Mall events for which you buy a virtual item with real world money and get another random virtual item. *shrug* You could choose between the schools of Adventure, Art, Gadgetry, Magic or Nature. Magic was obviously the best. Because I was in it. (It also won the school cup in its first year, if I remember right.) Woo, go magic school You could still fulfill the quests of other schools, though. An insider's view of my beautiful school! Don't look at me like that, Professor, you're creepy. Here we learned great and powerful magic! By going out to harvest items from various places in the park! Many items. Many. Grinding is magic, apparently. still not as boring as real-world schoolThe happy potion tables could be used to craft items to earn points for the school. Like these beautiful potions: And for very very good students, this lovely thing to put in your little Petpet Park house. Now, what would a bright young Petpet fresh out of magic school do? Surely they'd immediately find a magic-related job thanks to their degree in magic, right? *laugh track* Or they could try another kind of job first. Like piracy. Mm, this seems to be enough for a prologue. Stay tuned, I have enough screenshots for about 6 more posts. (Might even make another post today, we'll see.)

Here we are again. Where we left off, my petpet was fresh out of magic school. Clearly, the most logical thing for her to do next was to become a pirate. college debt wasn't going to pay itselfYAARRR. This place be cliche. Welcome to one of the areas of the original Petpet Park. It is literally called Pirate Alley. *shrugs* Yarr. Its background music was a kind of sea shanty-ish version of the Petpet Park theme - fiddle, accordion, creaking of docked ships and ebbing of water in the background. Here I am in the homeland of mr.coconut. It is also the homeland of a tentacle monster relative of mine. As you can see, I am about to throw mr.coconut's relatives at mine. Like most other fruit in Petpet Park, you could harvest these coconuts and eat them on the spot. The tentacle monster is one of those little animations that play when you mouse over them, just for decoration. (They may be little things, but I miss them ;_; ) Not included in my screenshots: a shop of piratey trinkets, and a cannonball bowling minigame - Petpet Park's version of Neopets' Lost City Lanes. This bedazzled ship is one of many little NC-exclusive areas in the Park. They gave out extra items to players who had bought NC items or Park memberships. This lady Noralina fancies herself a pirate or something. At first glance, she seems like a Mary Sue from Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic. But she must be doing something right. I mean, her ship has fifty times more bling on it than the actual pirate crew's ship. (That might be why it can't sail, though.) Also pictured here: Sally Primm. Miss Primm has been here since the dawn of the park, staring down those filthy pirates and taking none of their nonsense. You tell 'em, Miss Primm. Gotta have a pirate ship! Least well guarded ship of all times. You can walk right into the captain's cabin and help yourself to anything. No really, you can. Yes, this is supposed to be the captain's cabin, with carpeted steps and a kitchenette and a fish tank that you can fish in. I can't really explain it. Except that all this stuff is mine now. Yoink. Arf is so easy to steal from that, in an early quest to earn his trust and join his crew, you needed to bring him cannonballs... by stealing this pretty necklace from Arf's treasure and delivering it to the cannonball guy. There were many pirate-themed quest lines involving this place. You could run around, talk to NPCs, dig up pieces of treasure maps little by little, and end up with rewards like these: (That megaphone, shovel and key are among my favourite items from the park. ^.^) Meanwhile, the precious treasures awaiting you at the end of long quest chains turned out to be Captain Buttons and Captain Mittens here: Pirates. *shrug* (That's not spoilers if you can't play the game anymore, right? >.>) In the area directly north from Pirate Alley was the pirates' archenemy, Admiral Tugg, who resided in a place that he actually named after himself: Tugg Harbour. Wow. Hello, Admiral Tugg. I am here to help you teach those darn pirates a lesson. *snickers* He reminds me of Admiral Boom from Mary Poppins. Not included in the screenshot is a Battleships-like minigame. In a network of tunnels that stretch under most of the Park, you can find the pirates' long-lost cousins: the Bandits. They are surprisingly similar in that they dig for treasure, and they're not all that threatening. The bandits have much shinier treasure, though. A series of quests involved negotiations between them and the lone knight guarding some tower right above the tunnels. (More about that in a later post.) This is their little bandit meeting room. They just... stay there. The one with the golden speech bubble has a recurring job. You bring him gems... which he uses to make necklaces for his gramma. I remember when the Wailing Tunnels were first added to the park as an extension. They seemed so much darker and almost endless, with gloomy echoing sounds, water dripping, and an occasional growl in the distance. The first cave, in particular, was very dark and only inhabited by an old knight's screaming ghost. With the tunnels came the introduction of mining and SHINIES! (Only half of the shinies needed to complete the collection required NC. c: The same goes for most of the other harvestable collections - sea shells, flowers, random trinkets and junk...) The fourth cave is one of my favourite spots in the entire park. Look at all that glowiness. The first exploration of the tunnels was made spookier by the rumours of a monster waiting for us deep inside, guarding a mysterious treasure. I had no idea what it was going to be. And this is where I met my wonderful bff! He is very nice, really. Look, he gave me a hat that looks like him! How adorable. (Not pictured here: the assorted mittens) You can feed Jorguss mushrooms in a recurring job. He is also very helpful in later quest chains. Hey, all these adventures never stopped players from being upstanding citizens of the park. That's right, keep on smiling, Mayor. Who's the real master of this park? Spoilers - it's the Member Chest. I wouldn't mess with that thing. It just... sits there behind the Mayor, never saying a word. It's so ominous. The Good Citizen Shop sold items that unlocked when you reached certain levels, and were therefore excellent for flaunting your XP. After membership was introduced, nothing could be bought with only park points unless you had already paid for membership. But Park veterans like myself still have old items from the days before membership. I will show some cool items in my little park housy-home later on. Many of the wearables you see on my petpet are pre-membership items and rewards from epic quest lines, to show what a boss my petpet is. In this issue, Symcha is modelling the Dashing Pirate Haircut, the Chocolate Colour Bottle, the Radical Mohawk Haircut, the Simple Eyepatch, and the Citizen Evening clothing line.Adventuring is hard work, y'all! In the next post, we're going on vaycayshun.

You should make this into a Neopian Times article (or a series of articles), I'm sure many Petpet Park fans would enjoy it as well as showing those who didn't play what they missed out on.

Duke Pikachu Mmm. I kind of haven't logged in to neo ever since hearing the news about that AAA game. >.>; Might peek in again if things seem to be going well for the NT, at least. I don't really do articles, and these are my personal screenshots and memories, but I'll consider it, thanks. Well. This is ready and I have time to post it now, so, time to visit a nice warm friendly happy place. 8D Sorry this post is so long, I have way too many screenshots of this area because it's quite scenic. If you thought Pirate Alley was cliche, wait 'til you see... *sigh* Pukapooka Island. It was the Palmtree Panic level of Petpet Park. Coconuts, flowers, palm trees, palm fronds, fine pale gold sand, sculpted faces, all check. Even the music sounded like a steel band. This is the tourists' camp. If anybody asks, I wasn't here, and you didn't see me sniff that underwear. (The floating green paw print in that picture is a Parkle. They were random bits of free XP that you could collect by walking into them.) Evidence that the park had a chat function. Oh no, I've reached the end of the wooorld, wherever shall I go Here you could harvest seashells if you had the right NC prop. Those flowers on the right were used in many different quests and had achievement badges for harvesting hundreds of them. :'D These stairs never really led to anywhere. Maybe there was supposed to be another extension here later. This place kind of gives me the feeling that I'm being watched, though. This is a plant that makes it rain, and I will dance and make it weep as much as I like, no matter what that skull sign says. On the right side of that picture, you may have seen steps with glowing lava tiles, as if they were leading up to a volcano. They are indeed leading up to a volcano. I did not bother to screenshot the entrance of the volcano. However, the volcano did have an entrance. Which means that your petpet could walk right into the volcano, because convection is a very fickle thing in most fictional worlds. c: Of course, we first had to appease the volcano in a quest line by talking to local NPCs, finding a lost fire stone, letting the local sorceress use her water magic on the fire stone, magic elements balance blabla stuff. The point is that my petpet gets to wear a nifty necklace because she saved the entire island in an early quest, aw yeah. How did I not catch Aku in any of my screenshots? Look how cute she is! (thank you Book of Ages) So, guess what there is to see inside the appeased volcano. Noodles. Yes, noodles. Oodles and oodles of them, just boiling right there in the lava. See for yourself. I don't get it, either, but here they are with their little noodular guardian. You could harvest them endlessly from that giant bowl. A series of quests involved delivering certain types of noodles to certain NPCs so as to promote the noodles around the park - which sometimes took a lot of grinding for the rarer noodles. (garlic 8I) Noodoko gave an explanation that makes about as much sense as the Giant Omelette: Well. Apart from all the noodle stuff, the volcano looks fairly normal - for a volcano that you can walk into. It's got glowy lava rocks and things. ... but why the torches. Who walked into this lava-filled volcano and said, "hey, we're going to need some more lighting in here, let's use TORCHES"? And this sweet rock snail popped out to greet you when you moused over it. HELLO LAVA SNAIL MY OLD FRIEND. Another sweet place to hang out in was Squippit Hollow. It used to be very empty at first, a relaxing glade with plants and chirping birdies and a fishing spot. My second favourite plant in the park. It MOVES and it makes SHINIES!!! Not included in my screenshots is the Crafting Tree - you can just see the top of its foliage. It was the park's Cooking Pot. I shall apologise for not including it by singing a song. Then Squippit Hollow got revamped when she arrived. She got a custom glade to host an event around November, which was named the Harvest Feast - any resemblance to American celebrations of the same season is purely coincidental, Petpet Park caters to players from all over the world. =o Introducing Isibel. Her sister Innogen had a similar glade somewhere else. Any resemblance to Neopian faeries is purely coincidental. Isibel has so many seats in her glade that I can never decide where to place my hindquarters. (Behold, the Sitting Position of my petpet! With their original set of tricks, Petpets could wave, stomp, do a barrel roll, moonwalk, etc. For some extra NC, they could also swim, do the chicken dance, vanish like ghosts, shuffle like zombies and other such nonsense.) Isibel had many quests that were all about helping her prepare the feast. Isibel. Where. Is. My food. If you do not serve me a definitely-not-Thanksgiving dinner in a minute, I will eat all your unnecessary chairs. Isibel's Harvest Feast food was only available at a certain time of day, which happened to make it inaccessible for my time zone. c: Fortunately, thanks to the lag ( ;D ), I was able to grab each of the courses from the table, as they would appear for a split second when I reloaded Squippit Hollow. I MUST SAMPLE EACH COURSE *pant pant* Isibel also had a Harvest Oven that appeared at certain times, with recipes for MORE FOOD. Isibel is just about ready for me to leave. In this issue, Symcha is modelling the Spring Island Haircut, the Sunset Colour Bottle, and the Celestial Harp. All those bright colours are beginning to make my eyes water. In the next post, we will be saying hello to darkness, our old friend.

*snoozing in rocking chair* Zzz... eh, wha-? Where my Petpet went next? *picks up photo album* Alright, I was just getting to it, whippersnappers! We're done with my Petpet's vacation pictures, and now she's back to adventuring, because there's better treasure to be found than with those lazy pirates and bandits. I'll just tour you through a few places. Here we are in the Knight's Keep, the area that was introduced at the same time as Squippit Hollow. Together they form the Western Woods. The Keep is less bright and more serious than the Hollow, whew. Or at least, it was less bright before they introduced all the pink shrooms. Off to the right was a big patch of suspicious, brightly-coloured mushrooms where one could harvest shroom-related items. I did not screenshot it because it was NC-restricted. BI Here we have the knight of Knight's Keep himself, Sir Liam, valiantly resisting the invasion of the glittery pink mushrooms. He was the main NPC for all the quests involving the bandits and the Spyder in the Wailing Tunnels - from two posts ago. He was involved in other quests as well, a good helpful fellow. Even though his speech bubble seems to be coming out of his nose. There was a strategic minigame to play behind him as well. True to its title, it involved defending a castle - against an army of bugs. You could place various defenders at the windows, armed with wands, paper airplanes, or loaves of bread. How Sir Liam rewards brave Petpets Now for more guards and more adventure. We've had the pirate cliche and the pseudo-Pacific island cliche, and here's the obligatory pseudo-East Asian cliche, Petpet Park's own Shenkuu: the Cyodrake Temple Garden. No comment on that shop. The fuzzy blue trees made such nice tinkling noises when you harvested berries, though. Yep, Cyodrakes. The minigame in that area had dragons made of orbs that you needed to shoot and colour-match with an orb cannon - a Faerie Bubbles-type thing. There was a fishing spot here, with an animated fountain that could spit out fish-food-pellet things. It was a very pretty place, though. With peaceful sounds like trickling water and wind chimes. Just for the scenery. MORE SCENERY. Those big pink flowers were adorable, they'd spit out glitter and make cute chiming noises when you harvested from them. Pretty harvestables from the pretty garden I included the Cyodrake Temple Garden in the adventure post because when it was added to the Park, there was a good long quest chain with it. Players started by learning about the history of the Cyodrakes -worldbuilding dump- with help from NPCs all over the Park, because the Cyodrakes had trouble remembering it themselves. ಠ_ಠ Apparently, they were stuck guarding this temple because their king had entered it to search for a legendary sword, and been cursed. My Petpet got to step in and free the king by taking the sword, because my Petpet was the one with a *snort* - *giggle* - pure heart. I RULE NOW, LOSER And now you know how my Petpet got to carry this amazing sword all over the place. It was only available in the early days of the Park, too. A relic. =o (I wonder why they stopped awarding it. :c) (Probably because they didn't want players to have too many cool wearables accessible without NC. >_>) All the neat quest rewards Aw, I'd forgotten how cool that shield looked. I'd have worn it a lot more often if it wasn't for the sword. Another quest chain came when the Cyodrake princess arrived. She needed help to thwart her Evul Uncle and sent our Petpets running all over the Park again. There weren't as many items for this one. At the end of the quests, we found the lovely Amulet of Evulness right here and, and... *sob* we had to destroy it. :c With a nifty light magic hammer... which we didn't even get to keep, if I remember right. ;n; The better place for finding Darker and Edgier things was the spooky side of the Park, close to the other exit of the Wailing Tunnels. Here comes Shadow Grove, the land of Goffikness. It's the only spooky-ish area that was part of the original park, before spookier extensions got added. There was a ghost. =o Hello Opal. I see you still have no words to say. Very good. Keep your mouth shut if you know what's good for you. The main attraction here was the Mystery Maze minigame, simple, but quite decent. Just a dark maze, a lantern to keep lit, air vents to avoid, and portals to use occasionally. It was manned by a Mr. Grimsby. We are near Mr. Grimsby's house. But I am not here to see Mr. Grimsby. I don't like you or your faux goffik aesffetik, Grimsby. I'm here to see my real friend, the monster plant. Who's a cute little screeching wiggling monster plant? The inside of Grimsby's house became visitable a long time later. See why I don't like him? He overdoes it. Well. This is what I get when I invite myself to dinner. At least the butler could give you one ghostberry tart per day. Not pictured here: an organ in the corner that would suddenly make spooky organ sounds if you moused over it. It startled me a bunch of times. Also, a restricted access area for some kind of goffik anti-Valentine's day event. And now for something completely differ- SPACE. SPACE!!! Lunaria, Petpet Park's own Kreludor. It was unveiled in a plot that started with crop circles and glowing crops appearing in the park's farm. There was a temporary area with a crashed alien ship. After Petpets helped the aliens repair their ship, the aliens left behind a teleporter that could take us to the moon, if I remember right. Those aliens stayed on the moon, where another alien hung out, their banished rival/frenemy. I didn't catch either of the two spaceships in my screenshots becaaauuuse... I don't know, I didn't like them that much. xP The other alien was experimenting with wormholes and my Petpet got to help her make one. I only dimly remember this quest line. I MADE THIS, HAHA You needed to mine a lot of crystal thingies from the five pillars around the portal. And then there were lots of NC-restricted things, like harvestable wormholes, the inside of the spaceship, and a happy alien city that you could reach by travelling back to the past. (I never invested in access to that area, though.) There was someone a lot more interesting hanging just outside the happy past alien city. Here's my buddy and mentor. Who could have thought that a young Petpet named Zorkorian would grow up to be a Dark Wizard, of all things?! =o The darkest edgelord in the entire park. He makes Mr. Grimsby cry in front of his mirror. Of course there were long quest lines to defeat him, but interacting with him was fun, because just look at him. He was the only really Evul NPC in the park. The real deal, aw yeah. Next time, join me for more magic and spookiness.

Gather round, quickly now, we're getting to my favourite areas and NPCs. Ta-daaa, it's Mystimar Glen! The land of witchcraft and wizardry, magic card duels and basically Hogsmeade by night. All dusky, glowy and magical with a lovely background music. This place had edible purple magic wands. How Harry Pottery! I still love those buildings with their stained glass and glowy things. Mystimar's main gimmick was the Cardcasters game; all of the buildings had some connection to it. It was kind of like Neo's Dueling Decks, except you needed to buy plenty of cards with NC. c: There wasn't that much else to do in Mystimar if you weren't into Cardcasters, but I just liked to... hang out there. And play with this handy cauldron that happened to be ready in the middle of the street. Who knew that Sophie the Swamp Witch's wand had a relative all the way in Petpet Park? That poor stirring wand is like "FYORA HELP ME SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF HERE" Those sparkly trees weren't particularly useful, except for harvesting magic ingredients sometimes. I just like glowy trees. Jinxie and I staring at the statue of our idol, Grimelda. Paws off, Jinxie, she likes me way better. Grimelda was one of several opponents in a Cardcasters tournament with special prizes. Booyah! Even her statue is magical. <3 Grimgrim was the best mage in the Park, hands down. Need a potion to save the world? Grimgrim will whip it up in a jiffy - after scowling and glaring and scolding you a lot. <3 Wouldn't it be great to meet her at some point? ;D At last, here is the properly spooky extension of the Park, added right behind Shadow Grove for the first Halloween event: Fogbottom's bog, made of 3 areas - the Founder's Cemetary, Bogbottom, and the Pumpkin Patch. (The next Halloweens added another area with zombies. I am not into zombies and this is my tour of the Park, so I will show you no such things.) My favourite part of the Park is literally a graveyard. What, it's very quiet. A neat-looking graveyard, though? Those glowing Wraithberries made little ghostly chiming noises when harvested. The first Halloween event (all the way back in 2009, I think? wow) had a neat plot which started with exploring the graveyard and cleaning the headstones. To help this grumpyface. In front of that cranky Meowclops are the tiles leading to the minigame I played the most, Runemaster. I got into the top 3 on this game's high score table a bunch of times. It was... just another "match the tiles to make them disappear" kind of puzzle, but with a bit of action too. Matching the tiles made Banks move across the level little by little, there were encounters with creatures that you needed to duel with more tile puzzles, and there were different paths to select with either more enemies or more point bonuses. The enemies were so cute, though. D: I felt sorry every time Banks got to whack them with his shovel. That's a neat Mausoleum. And inside it was another of my favourite NPCs. He's a ghost. Meepit. LOOK. A GHOST MEEPIT. The stairs by that statue are the other entrance of the Wailing Tunnels, leading directly into Jorguss the Spyder's cavern. The awesome ghost cap that my Petpet's been wearing in those screenshots was also a rare wearable from the early days of the Park. And that nice Meepit was the one who gave it to me. \o/ Best wearable in the Park. So of couse I left that hat on my Petpet at the very End of the Park. This is how I left my Petpet just before logging out of the Park for the very last time, before it went poof. ;w; Dressed in the right outfit to haunt JS's servers. Yes, that is a sparkly ghost sheet costume. If I haunt a place I will do it in style, thank you very much. (*winks at Mafia 3 players if there are any around*) But hey, it's not the end yet, there's more to explore. One of the ghost NPCs involved in that Halloween plot. I was never sure what to call those statues on the sides of the gate to the next area - they look like sleeping Yooyus to me. Anyway, on to the next area. Such a nice swamp. If it was in Neopia, I would definitely have tried to write the backstory behind that boat wreck. Oops, ignore my Petpet's old outfit. This photo was, erm, from a field trip that she went on for Magic School, or something. I was rushing to collect screenshots at the end and didn't even catch all of my favourite area. D: Somewhere off screen is another ghost. There were more trees and harvestables - I'll just shove the items from the 3 areas here. Here we go gathering spooky things (sort of)
And in the swamp there was a little house with another NPC in it. ... Ohmygoodness. *nudge nudge* *whispers* It's... it's Grimelda. C: H-hi Grimgrim. <3 Nice house she's got. Very swamp-witchy. I'd like one of those. Her speech bubble is silver because the last quest I did for her glitched and I never finished it. D: At least silver looks great on her, much better than gold. *nod nod* Grimelda was so tsundere. She blushed and softened as soon as you paid her a compliment. And here we have Kripske, the main star of that Halloween plot and of the Trick-or-Treating events that followed. Yeah, I just carved myself a wearable lollipop out of your magic pumpkins. What you gonna do about it, you can't get down from there lol Krippy was a friendly fellow. He was kind of dying when we first met him, so the first step was to get Grimelda to revive him with a potion. Then the entire bog needed to be revived by... catching bugs. *shrug* Eh, they were cute bugs. Very old exclusive quest rewards of nostalgia
The final reward - the skullbasket - was needed for Trick-or-Treating. But when I first did that quest... it glitched on me. And I- I *sob* missed all the Trick-or-Treating. :c But then I did the entire plot again on another account. The next Halloweens had less plot and more Trick-or-Treating, with special cauldrons around the Park. Some of these cauldrons needed several players to stand on them at the same time before they spat out candy. (Which led to problems with the chat's filter when you needed an extra person. "hey we need 3 - three - third - ANOTHER, SOMEONE ELSE please") In this issue, and in most of the others for that matter because this is my usual outfit, Symcha is modelling the Mystical Magic Color Bottle, the Dark Faerie Haircut, the Sword of the Cyodrake King, the Fire Stone Collar, the Swashbuckling Shirt and the awesome Bandit Jacket, all old / rare items that noobs can't get. (I'll mention the tiara lateeer >>; ) All right, done with the spookiness for now. Next time, we're getting fabulous. By which I mean even more fabulous.

((Gotta say I'm loving this, Liou!
I never played much petpet park, but I think that 'first Halloween event' you speak of was one of the only two things I ever did - that and some Christmas thing that may've involved hot chocolate and snowflakes??
So as much as I've enjoyed reading these anyway (because you just write so engagingly!), this is where it's actually struck nostalgia for me <3))

Enough rambling and wandering. Adventuring makes a Petpet rich, and my Petpet was a big shot. Make way. Being a rich big shot requires a very important first step. A MAKEOVER~ Bling bling. Now when you're a rich Petpet there's no more of this "walking around" rubbish. (OK, you use a handy teleport-map to get around the Park anyway, but that's beside the point.) What you need is a fancy private vehicle. Like so. Why is the train so big? It needs storage room for my Petpet's ego. OK, that train was just a kind of in-between area to get to Autropolis, one of the NC-restricted areas. Basically Petpet Park's Moltara. I never invested in access to it so you won't see it. You'll just see the train, in which there was lots of room to... sit. You sure can sit in this thing! Anyway, I'm so rich that I bought me a farm. All dis is mine now. They work for me. The Fleep would buzz, fly and bleat at the same time when you moused over them. The giant Chokato was a daily in the same style as the Giant Omelette; it gave out chokato-themed items that completed - of course - a collection. My, so much food in this game
There was a giant Cherryapple that did the same somewhere else, but only for a limited time. They're not just apples, they're Cherryapples, see, that's more interesting
Shake it shake it, all these Peppermelons are mine. Oops, I didn't catch Farmer Green in a screenshot. He had a long, repetitive vegetable-picking minigame. And there was an Auntie somewhere who taught you to harvest popcorn by using a magnifying glass (actual handheld item) on the corn field. They also had a barn. One time a band played on a stage in the barn, but nothing really happened in it. Except Agent Scully here. Linski. Whatever. Girl, you are Scully to me. Cook me up some nerdery. She had her Mulder-expy outside the barn and they gave quests at the beginning of the "save the crashed aliens" plot. You may have noticed a shiny haystack in the barn, with an eggy sign near it. That is one of the remains of a yearly event that took place in April. What? Easter you say? No no no, nothing to do with that, not at all! It was Clucken egg season. And it started here with Mellee the Clucken nerd. The restricted-access barns behind her contained, um, random daily collectable items and stuff. The minigame was pretty good. You had to send eggs rolling down overly complicated ramps into baskets and match them by colour. (Not sure which Neo game to compare it to. Somewhat similar to Bumble Beams, but not exactly.) So, Clucken eggs. There were more sparkly haystacks all over the Park and they contained eggs of all colours. After harvesting a bunch for that purple Harris, you got a quest reward that allowed you to harvest MORE eggs in MORE colours like orange and icy blue and shamrocks and lightning. Don't you usually buy a dozen of these at your local market?
With a bit of NC, you could harvest EVEN fancier eggs with colours like plaid and paisley and that got a bit ridiculous. Quest rewards, let me see... there were a lot of trinkets from Mellee's rival - a shady collector - back when the two were competing, there was a Golden Egg, magic stuff, those awesome boots I wear everywhere, and a Clucken Petpetpet. Oh yes, the Park had Petpetpets. 95% of them were only available to members. They just ran around you a lot and could be petted and fed but didn't really need it. *shrug* Clucken this, Clucken that. Everything is Cluckens.
Who knew you could get so many shiny knick-knacks in exchange for eggs?
Enough eggs and farms. You know what rakes in a lot more profit than a farm? A severely overpriced campus shop full of things that students absolutely must buy for their studies. (For some reason I took a screenshot of the University shop rather than the other University schools. x3) The items sold there were not actually necessary for school-related quests, they just fitted the theme. And here's the library. Looks neat. I'm so rich that the books are begging to be read by me, haha. A lot of the quest lines that involved magic sent you to research something in one of the library's Ancient Tomes of Magick. Well then. Excuse me if I move on to a place where my fashion is appreciated. This ocean of greenness is Lucky Valley. There were luck-related events there in the month of March. Any resemblance to real-life events involving greenery and shamrocks would be purely coincidental. Clover collection yay - I mean nay, those things were so hard to get 8I
Things I did not bother to screenshot in this area: Innogen's treehouse, the NC-restricted Illusen expy, and Blocktacular, the Destruct-o-Match expy. While I'm at it, let me mention some other things I did not screenshot at all. * the Market Lane - basic stores and a really neat cooking minigame that I actually miss * Laughing Springs - water carnival + Swirling Seas, basically a NC-restricted Maraqua * the Pawvillion - it had some minigames with... marbles, and dancing * Blizzard Mountain - snowflakes, daily cocoa, NC-restricted candy palace, Advent Calendar * that's not even all, there were nooks and crannies everywhere. D: And here's Fashion Field. Let me explain the theme of this place - oh, you guessed already? Good job. Ay giiirl! Haha, she's so stunned by my swag that she's seeing stars ;D Flerilda had class. You think those benches are shiny? Pah, I literally had the same in my home. Off screen were the shop for haircut tickets and colour bottles, and Groomtopia where you got your makeovers. Mirsilla, the shopkeeper of Groomtopia. I'm including her because she's cute, thank you Book of Ages Off screen also was the Wheel of Fashion. You know, the Park got a lot of backlash for having so much NC-restricted stuff... but this wheel gave you daily items anyway, many of which were NC. I got so much stuff from it - clothes, grooming, home... and food. When you run out of collectable food, there's always MORE collectable food
And that is the story of why I look so fabulous, girl. In this issue, Symcha modelled a lot of nonsense. (Gold Colour Bottle, Rainbow Joy Haircut, Rainbow Shine Sunglasses, Clucken Tending Hat Golden Paw Sceptre, Dashing Farm Boots. Next time, things will be a little less shiny - NOT!

... Really? I missed the Wheel of Fashion? I left the Park but mainly because of the lag from Flash (among other reasons), but it was definitely before the wheel was released. Oh well.

Eh? What, you want to explore another land? Give me old Petpet a break, whippersnappers. She likes to chillax at home sometimes. Well of course she had a home! My little Lag Palace. A lot of the furniture came from daily freebie wheels. So much furniture that I had to make a little outdoor room with whatever didn't fit into the house. Tragic. Here you can see that it was possible to garden and grow fruit, and just how much I cared about that. Fine, I guess you can see the inside of the house too. It's a bit dull. What did you expect? Look at all my stuff. Look at my golden egg. (At the end of that quest, you could either give the egg to one of the rivals and get a pinwheel, or keep it for yourself. Uh, no dilemma there.) Look at all my XP trophies - one for every 5 levels - that cover almost an entire wall. I only needed one more. Why'd they stop at 55 ;_; And. Look. At. My. DIAMOND TOILET. If anyone needs an excuse to bring back Petpet Park, here it is: you could have a diamond toilet. With a matching telescope to spy on your neighbours. All right, time for our grand finale, let's make it count. We've got a fabulous rich Petpet, so let's go somewhere reaaal luxurious. What? Jenkins? I'M NOT READY YET, we'll have the photoshoot later, GET THAT CAMERA AWAY Oops, too soon. You know those NC-restricted zones I've been mentioning? I did get access to one of them. It was a tough choice. The island's beach club zone had more flowers and rocks needed to complete some collections, there was a mysterious Valentine-themed town somewhere beyond the post office (which I didn't include at all because it was dull lol), there was a Maraqua expy under the water carnival, and Blizzard Mountain had a palace made of candy! D: And then there was Celestial City, with lots and lots of quests about elemental magic and saving the world, and another freebie wheel! And clouds! Like Faerieland but still in the sky. B) This little horsie stands in the Knight's Keep all day long, making awkward conversation with Sir Liam, waiting to drag rich tourists back up to his hometown. You could feed the poor horsie some Snow Cabbages and carrots. At least he had a bigger role in some of the saving-the-world quests, which was cool, because it allowed people to do Celestial City-related quests even without buying access to Celestial City. You just came to see the horsie and talk to him about magic instead, and then you went to chase evul storm clouds around the rest of the Park. (With a magic staff) (that turned them into rainbow clouds :3) Celestial City also had a Meepit. You've seen creepy little staring Meepits - plenty of them. Now get ready for... ... a burly macho square-jawed Meepit bro. Dude. He does not look too reassured in the middle of all this sparkly peenkness. Can you see my Petpet's eyes? Thanks to the Sparkle Colour Bottle, she looks like she's covered in tiny diamonds, and she has golden-bronze-butterscotch eyes that can be liquid or as hard as marble. Any resemblance to a very popular modern twist on vampires would be purely coincidental. Anyway, what a sweet magical land full of fluffy clouds to bounce on! Better know how to fly. Good thing this little pony can teach us. Flap flap flap. Did I even have that flying trick or did my Petpet automatically start flying near the pony? I do not remember. CLOUD PRINCESS JUMP SCARE Remember Casandia the air faerie? The Petpets sure do. These fluffy clouds are a wonderful place to rest for a while. With a lovely view, too. Dance for me, Casandia! Casandia's statue was a daily that gave out random trinkets... to complete a collection, of course! There are always more shinies
(I don't know why I include so many of the items) (I just like their designs, sorry ;_; these are a few of my favourite things~) Oh look, this is the dragon lady of Celestial city! Sounds familiar or what? ;D It is good to see visitors, she says, ogling the yummy fruit on the cotton-candy trees. Fine, fine, I'll get you some fruit. Aw, I didn't properly screenshot the Wheel of Magic, either. It had even better daily freebies. That's just sad, those wheels gave me so much, and I couldn't even take two little screenshots in return. ;~; This is Kelzara. She has AWESOME HAIR. She's also been in a staring contest with that spooky orb for as long as the city remembers. She is ready to /fight/ that orb and the fountain it came with. Now now, friends. Let's calm down. Listen to the peaceful sound of my harp. Kelzara was a cool seriousface sorceress and the main quest giver here. There was a quest to clear Evul storm clouds, and a longer quest line to save the stars and restore light and fend off the darkness by collecting NOVAS =o All that. Wow, what would these people do without my Petpet! NOVAS \o/ rather special painted novas
Novas! Harvest them from sparkly pink fountains! Novas! Give them to NPCs! Novas! Melt them into potions that you put into magic lamp posts to save the world! Novas! Collect them all! It's quest reward time again, be rewarded! ^_^ So shiny
More stars and sparkles and pinkness and rainbows. I like that bridge. Oh look on the right, that's the spa. >_> The beauty parlor sold some pretty wearables. The crystals glowing behind that warrior dude made pretty noises when you moused over them. You could play little tunes with them. ... this. Is MY spot from which I dominate the world while bathing in rainbows. I don't care if you're some sort of princess, I have a lightning bolt in my hand and my legs are made of rainbows. In this issue, Symcha totally rocked the Sparkle Color Bottle, the Lavender Joy Haircut, the Blue Towel Hat and Robe, the Cucumber Mask, the Hand Mirror, the Magic Lightning Crown, the Celestial Springing Tuxedo and Shoes, the Lightning Sword, and the Rainbow Tights. Dazzling, simply dazzling. And Petpet!Liou flew up on the rainbow and sparkled gaily ever after. The. End.(My screenshots have served a purpose, wheee. Thanks to everyone who read/commented/clicked "like", it was nice to know I wasn't just talking to myself here. ^^)
