Hey everyone! It's currently mid-November and I just wanted to post a few notifications here.
We currently have 15 members participating in the Warm Fuzzies and sign-ups will be open until the 14th of December. Due to the current number of participants, I am ready to extend the deadline for completing and submitting the fuzzies if necessary. If anyone feels like they will need more time to write their fuzzies for everyone, please let me know and I will consider moving the deadline into the new year.
As a reminder, now is a good time to start writing these fuzzies. Some of us are participating in NaNo this month and would like to focus on that first; there is no rule that says we must start writing the fuzzies as soon as we can. Just be aware that I find it helpful to write all the fuzzies early so that I have plenty of time to give a lot of thought into all of them.
We have some first-timers participating in this year's Warm Fuzzies. I'd just like to make a reminder that if anyone is having trouble writing fuzzies for members they don't know very well, a good thing to do is to start a conversation with them and to get to know them. I will probably start up some PM conversations with a few of you in the coming days.
That's about it for now. Remember that any questions or concerns can be posted here or PM'ed to me or Celestial.
Thank you all for your participation. I look forward to the day when the fuzzies will be sent out to everyone.

I would really appreciate a deadline extension simply because the 14th corresponds with finals week for me, and I'm already scrambling to finish all my projects before it happens. It would just make my life less hectic to not have another major project due that same week.

It would just make my life less hectic to not have another major project due that same week. The fuzzies aren't due until December 21; the sign-ups close on the 14th. Sorry about not being clear on that. If you still need it, we can extend the deadline a bit.

I would like to add a few things to what Kozma has said: PMing people and talking to them is a great way to get to know them but if you are like me and want to hide under your desk every time you even so much as think about starting a conversation with a stranger, there are other ways to get to know people. Poke around their forum activity, their NT contributions, their art thread or DeviantArt account (if they have one) or any other internet presence they have. Since the fuzzies are anonymous, it won't make you seem like a stalker, don't worry.
It is also perfectly acceptable to compliment people's art or writing, since we are a forum full of creative people and I am sure we all love having that acknowledged. Just remember to say what you like about their creative output and why instead of just going "ur art is gud" and leaving it there.
Speaking of substance, fuzzies do need to have some meat in them but since there are a fair few participants, you cannot write a short novella for everyone. A few sentenses is good and the ideal is a smallish paragraph. Use your judgement. If it seems like something you would be happy getting, it is probably good enough.
That's all. Looking forward to all your fuzzies, and remember, any ones for Kozma get sent to me. ^^

Regarding the deadline extension, I do think it'd be quite nice to receive them on the 25th if that does work...
But if other people would value an extension then that might be best. It would certainly not be ideal to have people rushing their fuzzies rushed and perhaps not able to make them so meaningful as they'd like.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion as Reiqua. I think it'd be really nice to get lovely warm fuzzies on Christmas, but hey, if other people would like an extension then I'll make the most of it too. =) Then we can all get notrushed fuzzies at a later date!

Actually, I'm of the opinion that Christmas is not the best sort of day for this type of project.
It's just, Christmas is already so chock-full of warm fuzzy sweetness you get cavities just thinking about it. It's one of the days I need warm fuzzies the least, because it's already fuzzier than bunny slippers. I mean, I guess I get wanting to make that one day so absolutely perfect that everything good that could possibly happen, every gift you're looking forward to, every warm feeling you can get happens on that one day.
But I don't know about you, but the day I really need a warm fuzzy is a ordinary cold, dark day in January, when there's nothing else to brighten my day. When the warmth and fuzzies of the holidays has long since faded, when there's nothing to look forward to, when life is just being life again. And life isn't always that great. And you feel like no one cares what happens to you or what you create, like it doesn't matter.
That's the day I really need the warm fuzzies. Not some day that's already filled to the brim with them. But maybe that's just me.

Actually I can totally see what you mean! I guess me and Reiqua overlooked that on account of living in the southern hemisphere, where January is bright and cheery anyway. xP

I take your point, June - I guess I just didn't think of it because where I live, January days are generally 40-43 degrees (that's about 100-110 Fahrenheit), so any warmer and I'd probably die XD Still, I can see the merit in your point that it might be nice to spread out the fuzziness
EDIT: LOL! Ninja'd by Thorn xP Yeah we southern hemisphere minds think alike *nod nod* xP

Reading June's post has made me open to the idea of extending the deadline until January, seeing how what she said regarding cold, dreary winters likely apply to the majority of participants here. And also because it wouldn't hurt to get more time to lovingly craft our fuzzies =P

I dunno, considering I will probably be spending Christmas Eve at home by myself, and Christmas night at work (yes- Walmart's overnight staff has to work Christmas night) I could probably stand to feel a little bit loved that day. :,D
Don't get me wrong, if people NEED extensions that's totally fine. I'm just saying we don't need to change the date because of the notion that Christmas is already fuzzy. Not everybody will necessarily have a holly jolly one, or even celebrate it at all if the aren't Christian.

Hey everyone! I'm just writing to let everyone know that I've been following this thread and that I've noted everyone's concerns about having the deadline extended into January. I understand why we would rather have the fuzzies in January but I also understand why some may want to have them on Christmas day. I am going to talk with Celestial and see if we can come up with a solution for this. I do have an idea that we could try but I'll have to see if it would be feasible. In the meantime, I would like some more input from everyone about this. What are your thoughts? Would you like to have fuzzies on Christmas day or would you like them in January?

For the reasons Shinko said, I do think having them on Christmas day would be nice. Not that I think any less of June's proposal (:
I think I'll be happy whatever you end up deciding, Kozma!!
