Six years ago, the late Steve Jobs wrote a long letter about why Adobe Flash was bad: www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ (love the snark in the last sentence) Well, it looks like Apple is going a step further now and in their Safari browser for the next major release of OS X (renamed to MacOS), they are making Flash disabled by default for all websites and you will have to "whitelist" the ones that you need to run Flash on. www.macrumors.com/2016/06/14/safari-macos-sierra-plugins-disabled-default/Although Apple isn't quite the huge player in the desktop/laptop computing market, they are still influential and I think other browsers will start to do the same thing. Flash, as you know, has recently become a huge security risk and most would rather do away with it altogether. So...what about Neopets? This path surely will end in Flash being killed off eventually right? Nobody in their right mind wants their users to see that their website uses old, aging technology and have to click an extra time to access it. What happens to Neopets in a post-Adobe Flash era? They can't port every game to WebGL as that would be a huge time sink for the limited staff they have. I have a gut feeling Neopets may just fizzle out...and that would make me sad. Update: Google also did something similar last year but only for adverts: thenextweb.com/apps/2015/09/01/adobe-flash-just-took-another-step-towards-death-thanks-to-google/
